Ok so I have an update. Great job on this board pyzel. I had this board for a month but the waves have been shit so I couldn’t take it out and use it. Finally we got some small surf so I took it out and wanted to share my experience. It was a 3ft day soft burgers everywhere. This thing paddled well. Got into the 3ft slop well and I was able to get down the line decently well considering how gutless it was . I’m impressed. I would say this is a great board. The first popup it felt very natural under my feet. I was able to pump into a nice snap off the top on the softest 3ft wave. So I can only imagine it’s going to go well when the waves pickup a bit. First pyzel ever. I might have to convert over from lost. If anyone has questions let me know. 6’2 stock sim is the size I got. I’m 6ft and 200 pounds. I been surfing 20+ Years. I used Craig Anderson large black stix fins.
Hey Jim, any more updates? Are you riding it in epoxy or Poly? I am in San Diego and the waves can be soft so interested to know if you have been able to keep it going in the smaller weaker stuff.
@@brianfleming1310 ya I took it out a bunch more times. It needs the right fin for sure or else it feels stiff. Had a lot of drive and hold. I like it but I found myself drifting back to my neckbeard 2. Loose and fun and can surf it 3ft to 6 np
Surfed the XL version and it was 10-15ft on Surfline here in SoCal.. This board held its ground. I was able to sit deeper and the guys on there 6'6+ boards where surprised when I said I was on a 6'4 lol. Drops where smooth, paddling was cake. Im 5'9-195
I just got the 6-0 , down sized from a 6-10 rainbow ive been riding. Recently got back to surfing and teaching my son to surf. Cant wait to ride it hopefully this weekend in Florida with this cold front.
Got mine a couple weeks ago from surfboard Empire Coolangatta and really happy with it. It's NOT a full groveller and NOT a full HPSB. It fills a nice little slot between. It complements my Ghost Pro (my step up) and Shadow nicely. I often have to surf at high tide due to work commitments, this is my new go to for those fuller sessions. I rode my HS Holy Grail to death but transitioning from the HS to Shadow was annoying. Red tiger to Shadow is still different but I click back into Shadow mode quicker. Disclaimer- I don't "surf" full on grovel, I'll ride a foamy if it's completely weak. I'm based on NSW north coast Aus.
HI BJ, so would you say that the Red Tiger works better than your Shadow on softer weaker days. I have a Shadow and it needs a bit more power to work. Also, what are you riding. How big and what construction>
I was told at surfboard empire the glass job 4 ounce top and bottom not the usual x2 4 ounce on deck the sales guy said he is custom order his to get the x2. 4 ounce. How is your holding up
@@michaelshort5115 from my experience stock boards are usually built a bit light but now I'm at a stage in life where I have a decent paying job I don't mind. I haven't surfed my red tiger a tonne to be honest. Been a bit slack getting out there. I have a 5 board quiver too so no one board gets too much attention.
It’s fall in north county San Diego and this board is really doing it for me. I’ve surfed it in a variety of conditions but had the most fun in waist to OH . Believe it or not it goes great with NVS convertible kraken twin+trailer. I don’t like twin +1 in short boards but this hits different
I have a Pyzalian 2 and it's great, but it's more performance than they let on. The Red Tiger has a flatter mid rocker and a squash tail, so I'd imagine it actually cruises through smaller surf better. I haven't tried the RT, and I'm no pro, but that's my opinion. You might also consider the White Tiger instead if you already have the High Line.
Hi, I'm thinking of getting a new board, 1-4 or 1-5 feet. Firstly, what size waves would the red tiger surf best? And what board would you recommend for a 1-4 foot, intermediate, everyday board that I could progress on? Great video!
Hi Jon. Am following the Tiger models with great interest. There are already rumours circulating that the Red Tiger enables riding out of airs with greater certainty and consistency. It would be interesting to see how Koa goes on one since he is in the process of upgrading his air game at the moment. It would be interesting to put Koa, Nate, and Ivan on a Red Tiger, since they are your team riders and send them out at Rocky point and see what happens.
Pyzel what dimensions does John John ride in his red tiger including the volume I usually use him and his board dims as a reference when ordering my customs. (Thank you for always taking the time for me when I'm in the shop your boards are amazing and you truly are a legend)
you can see his dims on a recent video they posted about these boards (not on this channel) they were all around 30.8, i believe. seemed a little much for JJF...is that normal for him?
Red tiger is easier to surf if your back footed. If you surf cleaner waves go for P2. Red tiger will release better and pivot better and P2 will carve better especially with no hip. Both are easy but red tiger also paddles better for the rocker being lower.
CLASSIC TO SEE A GREAT GOLDCOAST SURFBOARD DESIGN REPLICATED AGAIN FOR THE BEST JOHN,,,NEV HYMAN MADE THIS SAME DESIGN FOR MUNGA A GREAT SURFER AND MARGO ,LEGENDS I AUSTRALIA,,,ITS A CLASSIC FLAT BETWEEN THE FEET V IN THE TAIL ,SIMON ANDERSON STYLE THRUSTER,,CLASSIC ,,,that NEV made work for the goldcoast.
Any updates on how this goes in california? Hopefully SoCal beach break waves? Also super interested in hearing how well this paddles with the wide point slightly back from center
in Australia they are stronger than the Merricks (of course) but generally not as strong as a JS. I’ve had some issues with tail sinkage on the stock boards, even with the carbon reinforcement
In both heats that John has been eliminated at in the sunset and portugal contest he 1. Broke his board and 2. fell off the wave doing a snap in the critical section. Maybe its a great board for predictable waves in glassy conditions but he needs to go back to the ghost if he wants to win a title this year. Go JJF!
Gotta hand it to Pyzel for the most confusing and convoluted board lines... these will become: white tiger pro, red tiger xl, red tiger mini, orange tiger, etc lol

As Wesley said-- the RT has a flatter overall rocker and outline through the tail which I think you will find a bit better in softer waves than the P2

Whats the difference between the Red Tiger and the Phantom? As an intermediate surfer surfing average waves which board would you recommend?
sweet stick! now for the much needed comparison... red tiger vs. phantom ?
I would also love to see this comparison. I have a phantom now and I love it, but I’m thinking about selling it to get one of these they look awesome
I don't have a phantom but ive fondled a few in the shops and I feel like the phantom is way chunkier than red tiger.

It’s pretty user friendly , get the xl dims , the extra foam has no negative effects that I can tell. It’s not your average overvolumed shorty.
is the purpose of the hip to make it easier to release off the line you set on the rail?
Dang... that board looks super fun
It looks like the perfect board.

Where does the Mini Ghost fit in relative to the Red Tiger?
The Red Tiger is a better board for Low End waves for sure, but more high performance too
So.what wave range this board made for please?
anywhere from waist high to overhead
Seems similar outline and rocker to og flyer
Why is the thumbnail 144p?
The Tiger Balm lineup. Comes mentholated in Red and White strengths. Only asians know where Pyzel gets his inspiration from.
