  • Quick how-to video for changing the oil on a Ford Lehman 120. It's a really simple job and can be knocked out in about 30 min (don't spill!).
Per the maintenance manual this quick service is required every 50 hours of engine run time. Every time I have done it the old oil coming out has looked really really clean--like brand new, so I think you probably could wait longer but on engine parts like injectors it's essential to stay ahead of problems so I recommend following the owners manual, as always! If you don't get 50 hours of runtime per year I would also encourage an annual oil change to be safe!
I made the mistake of overfilling when I put my fresh oil in, but even if you do too, this is still a very quick job and pretty mess-free if you're careful!
Please leave a comment if there are other routine maintenance items you would like to see!
    Thank you!

Technically you have changed the injection pump lubricating oil, as the injectors are a very small part of the system installed in the head. Carry on...

Now that's what I am talking about! Love engine rooms big or small. So I have never heard of a Ford Leman, have to look it up. My only concern is, a Fram?!?!? Come on you can get a better filter. Lol. BTW looked up the band Midland. You are right the are amazing! Happy New Year!

The Lehman is the second best marine application out there behind the Detroit diesels! Glad to get ya onto a great band too haha. Curious-what’s your beef with Fram? I’ve been using them in continuation since that’s what the previous owner used for a decade without problem! Always open to recommendations

@@crown_city_trawlers I thought the same thing about the filter. I never use Fram. I either use Mobil One or K&N filters, something along those lines. Fram's are cheap and the materials are low par. The others take out more impurities. Look it up on YT here, many people have done the comparisons, even cutting them open to show how well some are made, and how some are not so well made.
Nice video btw. Oh, the Rotella is excellent.

@@crown_city_trawlers I have failed in my diesel knowledge.... Being a motor head I will have to research them. For the filter I base that on something we did in HS AG class. We cut open new and used filters. The "element" in Fram does not hold up well. I saw this when compared to others. I have been told that the paper can tear. Depending on engine I use Deere, Baldwin, AC Delco, and have used NAPA. Alot of filters are made by same company, it just depends on what goes in them. I will say a marine engine is in a lot cleaner environment that a tractor or construction equipment.

@@tigergreg8 I agree. Cut open filters in HS and surprisingly the most expensive filter didn't have the best element.... Rotella T6 full synthetic is what I run in my diesel pickup. Well I did until the recent shortages....

      How do you drain yours?

@@crown_city_trawlers i believe some lehmans have self supplying injection pumps. I also wanted to do an oil change on my 120 lehman injection pump but there are no drain plugs or anything, however there is a steel mesh hose going towards the engine oil filter. Could not actually find information on this, so if anyone has some knowledge about newer ford lehmans with self supplying injection pumps it would be much appreciated.
Off topic, there is also a modification which makes the coolant system self bleeding which is also a small steel mesh hose connecting the bleed plug in the manifold to the expansion tank. I do not know if my lehman is a unique piece from someone with these ideas or of it is a newer version.
