When is the AFL going to do something about the way the umpires administer the “advantage” rule? It wouldn’t have made a difference in this game and as an Eagles member, I don’t mind seeing the Dockers lose. However, blowing the whistle for a free kick, making everyone but one Sydney player stop, then calling “advantage” is hugely unfair.
If the nearest Dockers player made the tackle after the whistle had blown, the umpire would’ve given a 50m penalty, so the Docker does the right thing and stops for the whistle.
Why should he be punished for following the umpires instructions?
Note to umpires: if you want to call advantage, be like soccer referees and keep the whistle out of your mouth.
Somehow I don’t think it would have changed the result.

Such a hard game to watch. Honestly, i can excuse our boys tonight. Somethings are bigger than football.
Cam should have been here. He had a whole life ahead of him but his demons took him away. Our boys knew that. I bet some of those veterans wish he was still running out on the ground beside them.

this game shouldve been postponed. just another showing of the afl not doing enough to help these players move out of playing a sport back into the regular life the rest of us live. its a luxury to play afl but its damn hard. afl just does their best to cover their asses for lawsuits. this is unacceptable and we shouldnt have these players fall victim to problems where things can escalate so quickly. rip cam 💜💜
