- A Football Life Terry Bradshaw
Terry Paxton Bradshaw (born September 2, 1948) is an American former professional football player who was a quarterback for the Pittsburgh Steelers in the National Football League (NFL). Since 1994, he has been a television sports analyst and co-host of Fox NFL Sunday. Bradshaw is also an actor and recording artist, having participated in several television shows (mainly as himself) and films, most notably co-starring in the movie Failure to Launch, and releasing several country music albums. He played for 14 seasons with Pittsburgh, won four Super Bowl titles in a six-year period (1974, 1975, 1978, and 1979), becoming the first quarterback to win three and four Super Bowls, and led the Steelers to eight AFC Central championships. He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1989, his first year of eligibility. Bradshaw was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 1996.
Bradshaw is known as a tough competitor and for having one of the most powerful arms in NFL history. His physical skills and on-the-field leadership played a major role in the Steelers' dynasty throughout the 1970s. During his career, he passed for more than 300 yards in a game seven times, but three of those performances came in the postseason (two of which were in Super Bowls). In four career Super Bowl appearances, he passed for 932 yards and 9 touchdowns, both Super Bowl records at the time of his retirement. In 19 career postseason games, he completed 261 passes for 3,833 yards.
My father sat next to Mr. Bradshaw on a 3 hour flight over 25 years ago. He said that he was sitting in his seat and Terry came onboard and sat next to him and looked over at my Dad and said “ hey, you look familiar, do I know you from somewhere “? Lol. My Dad always loved to tell that little story. He said that you couldn’t have met a nicer guy. 👍👍
Wow that's awesome ... It's cool how you get to learn more about a man's personality through another person shared story thank you ... Just makes the good things about Terry more believable only cause i only learned about him through tv and what not ,. But I like how he made your dad feel comfortable that he was a popular dude I bet a lot of people who met him can share that story that's so cool
Mr. Bradshaw is a genuine man. He's a gentleman. Please remember he had issues and came out with flying colors. He never gave up. Football comes and goes but life is a different thing. I'm a Steelers fan but I appreciate Terry's heart.
This is so cool of a story.Terry just seems to be such a down to earth, good ole' country boy.I'm sure your dad and Terry Bradshaw had some interesting and crazy, loose conversation.Awesome!😂
I watched the Steelers as young kid and must say that Bradshaw is the man. One of the best of all time. Thanks for beating the cowboys. I’m a Texas boy but love them Steelers.
Terry was fantastic to watch. What a great team the Steelers had then.
Terry is the most under rated player in NFL history. He was 51st on the NFL 100 greatest players. On the 100th anniversary team he was left off. Roger Staubach made it. Terry beat him ever time they played. Terry was MVP of the Super Bowl over him. He was MVP of the League over him. I think during his years in the media he pissed a lot of the selectors off.
I know. I was floored when he didn’t make the top 100 team.
doesnt he have 200 ints lmao
He was ranked No. 50.
@@obiohaz6023He's got 4 superbowls. What did you ever accomplish in football???
@@charlieyellowstone8248 i got a ws ring , nuff for me
I just love his laugh it cracks me up.
This Pittsburgh kid's boyhood hero. Love this!
Mine too
When being quarterback meant you had to be a tough SOB. Great guy who I love and is an inspiration to many.
Today’s quarterbacks don’t really have a clue what it’s like to be hit blindside and see stars in your eyes
What I appreciate about Terry so much is that he is a thinking, feeling person with deep personal convictions, and accepts who he is, he has certainly paid a price for it, as you do in this world no matter who you are and how you are, someone is always going to criticize. He is a good and decent person and a very bright light in this world.
Brad had a cannon for an arm & made this Chicago native a Pittsburgh Steelers fan for life! Here we Steelers here we go!
Bradshaw is one of the best to ever do it
Absolutely my favorite quarterback of all time! Ty, Terry for all you gave us and continue to! God bless from one Louisianian southerner to another.
Mine too!
Love you Terry Bradshaw! ❤❤❤
DAM!!!!! He is the best.
we love you terry! how can you not love this guy? unless you are a raiders fan
Need Kenny to watch this and understand what it takes to be a Steeler Quarterback
Kenny will get there. Remember we can’t do to him what we did to Bradshaw.
Lol when did everyone want Ben benched?
@@TWAF...most of our fellow Steelers fans are want Kenny to get benched and the O.C. fired and the Steelers 5-3 & it's week 9 of the 2023 season!!!..smfh🤔
@@pineytreez6811 it took TB12 5 years to find his groove
Cmon man😂
It is because of the Steelers team beating the LA Rams in the Superbowl I became a fan for the Steelers. this team was the most dynamic powerhouse I'd ever seen. Favorite Defense all time is Joe Greene and receiver Lynn Swann. Bradshaw was KING.
As a cowboy fan for many years . I love Terry he is awesome with a capital A.
Steelers fan for as long probably longer lol.....I hated Staubach back then...but not because of anything except fear of his game. In those Dallas Pitt SB's I never could relax with a lead because I knew Staubach could bring them back. I just re-watched the 79 SB and was reminded how good he was. Dude almost brought them back scoring 2 td's in just a couple minutes. Cowboys recovered an onside kick to score the second td. They did not recover the next one and the Steelers held on. If y'all had gotten that second onside I think Staubach would have drove them for the win. Scared a 12 year old kid half to death lol. Another thing I noticed was the sportsmanship both teams exhibited towards each other.
That was when football was football.
Terry, watched you in the 70's and want to thank you and the team for giving me and my family the opportunity to see the BEST football ever played. God bless you and your family. Much, much love from a gal born and raised in Pittsburgh...this is my home and yes, it's yours too! 🥰🤗❤ We love you, Terry.
That is awesome!
When i was a kid growing up in the 70s .The Steelers and Bradshaw were it
Terry Bradshaw is my idol best quarterback ever for the Steelers
Not my idol but I agree he is the best QB Steelers had.
I love Terry's laugh. It's so hearty and genuine.
I love seeing the Chuck Noll: A Football Life and then this one. After going to therapy for about a year, I realize this is how you best see things: from reading other perspectives.
Terry was exciting quarterback a 4 time Super Bowl Winner Excellent sport commentator. Just a great all around person
Couldn't agree more
I'm live long Dallas Cowboys fan. But I'm a big Terry Bradshaw fan...he's one of the best quarterback and person ever....!
As a kid I hated Bradshaw for beating my Cowboys in the 1979 Super Bowl. He broke my heart. However I learned to love Terry and his shenanigans. I also learned to appreciate his football contributions. The man was a big game clutch quarterback.
I was 10 in 95 and I feel the exact same way about Aikman and the Cowboys.
Terry Bradshaw was a hell of a quarterback, I don't understand why he's not mentioned among the elite. And don't try to quote me stats because the man was no slouch
Because 2 generations have now been raised on ridiculous Fantasy football. They only see stats. 95% of football fans have near-zero understanding of the game
As a lifetime Steeler fan TB was my idol as a kid he created so many lifetime memories that I still and will always remember vs Houston vs Dallas vs LA Rams vs Oakland vs Denver TB was the best big game qb ever threw the best deep ball and was THE leader of the Steelers!!
I agree!!!
Man there was nothing better than watching the Steelers and Cowboys play on any given Sunday from back in the day. Thanks for the memories Terry.
I would put TB up there as one of the toughest QB's to ever play the game. In his day, it was open season on the QB and TB took more than his fair share of hard hits and cheap shots and still found a way to win. I salute you Mr. Bradshaw and thank you for the memories.
Totally agree
From one Woodlawn Knight to another, Terry was my idol.
And on the eighth day God created the 1970s Pittsburgh Steelers.
I feel like I’ve been a Steelers fan my entire life, and Terry Bradshaw is a main reason. I’m glad he’s enjoying his life. His open discussion of his battles with depression helped inspire me to get help with mine. I’ve admitted to a crush on him for decades, and I don’t think that would ever change.
Remember when they interviewed his first wife before one of the Super Bowls. It was pretty sweet. But he broke my heart every time Vikings lost. Lol
I do remember that. JoJo Starbuck.
Lambert was the heart, Greene was the soul, Harris was the spirit and Swan was the style, but Terry was the mind, and that mind overcame it all to own the '70s and it was a privilege to watch him go. Thank you for the wins.
Very accurate
And Chuck was the Emperor, and Art was the Chief. 🏆🏆🏆🏆
Some people cannot handle funerals. And if you suffer from depression they can be a trigger for that condition. As someone who had depression as a younger man, I can tell you it is brutal.
He has at least acknowledged he should have been there.
Every boy needs a hero. I had two. My dad a WWII vet, and Terry Bradshaw.
I love TB… I also like Fran Tarkenton
I’m glad this is back on RUclips. Oiler fan here. Grew up going to Oilers games in the 70’s. When the Steelers and Bradshaw came to town…that was a big deal!
I was a Steelers fan when the Baltimore Colts left Maryland 😢. I lived in God's country the eastern shore peninsula. Terry was a country boy & that suited me. The front four was awesome. 🦜
Hollywood Henderson probably cost Dallas the superbowl from his rude and disrespectful comments about Bradshaw! lol
So glad the Steelers won! Favorite team of all time! All their players were just fantastic.
Terry Bradshaw my favorite quarterback! Happy I grew up during that era!
That man has a lot he can teach us all.
Indeed
I cried when you went back to Pittsburgh I'm not a Pittsburgh fan but I am a Terry Bradshaw fan and suffer from depression as well I'm 53 you have a great personality I'm sorry for what you went through I too do better at small schools who cares what people think about being intelligent that doesn't mean they get to be disrestfull it's obvious they were wrong..
He accomplished more than just on the football field. He allowed my father, and I to have a relationship because we could talk about the Steelers, Terry Bradshaw, and steel curtain. Without them I don’t know that my father and I would’ve had a lot to talk about.
I learned some things about him I didn’t know, but he has always been one of my favorite Quarterbacks.
Love Terry Bradshaw and I'm not even into Football.
Best QB ever. To me.
That first bit about his fame🤩 was hilarious. Humble, accomplished with a sense of humor/laughter, 😊, 👏👏👏
Terry Bradshaw Steelers icon legendary player a 4x super bowl champ a 1st Round 1st overall pick out of Louisiana Tech University in the 1970 nfl draft
In my book, the best QB. If Brady played during the same time as Brad and Staubach… He wouldn’t have played past 30
Don’t forget how many hearts she broke with the Vikings LOL! Mine was one of them. I’m only 63
Pure athlete, respective all of team mates with a good ole boy without biases. He made it happen. Never meaning no harm. That was influenced by the desire to play with the best and win.
Seems like a great true nordic cousin and a good ol boy nature lover. I can relate
It’s always a fascinating thing to wrap your head around when you see a man who was a #1 overall draft pick, 4x Super Bowl winner, 2x Super Bowl MVP, NFL MVP, college football HOF member, pro football HOF member, and always has a happy go lucky personality struggles with insecurity and depression. It’s an incredibly transparent display of how challenging depression truly is. Even someone who has achieved some of the pinnacles of success in their life, is widely beloved, and in a public sense seems to not have a care in the world can struggle. So sad that the reality is it can strike anybody and if they don’t tell us we could never even know.
So true. It hits anyone that’s the truth
He was the throwback TB12.
Agreed!
Except he wasn't babied by the league lol, and 70s football was built different Tom Brady would have been lucky if he survived a game in the 1970s NFL.
Great NFL QB thank u Terry for all the memories and stay on TV
Totally!!!
If people want to question Terry's intelligence, show them films of his 4th quarter comebacks. His football I.Q. was above and beyond Einstein.🤠👍🏼
Kenny Pickett needs to watch this story of Terry Bradshaw of what he'd went through to be of what he was before and what he is now hopefully he'll learn from the best in TB for sure it's just a matter of time
I wholeheartedly agree! Terry went through some serious crap and came out, smelling like a rose. As Terry puts it, “I’ve never lost a Super Bowl”
I remember the fans treated him terribly for his first few years in the NFL. When the Steelers hired a coach specifically to coach him, he then became a super star. Even Chuck Knoll gave up on him several times as during the Steelers 1974 season Knoll started Joe Gilliam. On a Monday night Game Gilliam was replaced by Bradshaw and Rocky Blier was also put into the starting lineup. He actually won the fans over during the 1977 season when he carried the team on his back playing with a broken left wrist.
Enjoyed this very much!
I was about 12, living in Michigan, when Terry caught my attention when he playing in college. How exactly that came about, I can't quite recall. Anyway, from there on, I was a fan and very excited to watch him and the Steelers win 4 Super Bowls.
Not everyone booed Terry in Pittsburgh. A lot of us were behind Terry from day one. I hope he knows that !
Te quiero, Terry... Nadie mejor ...que tu. Algún día voy a ver un partido en la casa de Acero
I love TB!
Me too!!!!
Does not get enough credit for how good he was.
They beat the crap out of the qbs in that era.
Rules to open up the passing game never came around till 1978...when they did he was nfl mvp in 1978.maybe the best big game qb ever.
His name should be right up there with any qb that ever played.
Only here to watch his beautiful daughters 😍
THEE Original TB12!!!!!!!! 🖤💛🖤💛🖤
Always
Franco is most well-known for the Immaculate Reception, but without Terry's incredible athletic ability, the play doesn't happen.
"Let's go, Joe!"
"Let's go T-Baby!"
Great moment, SB X
Terry Bradshaw was the Joe Montana before Joe Montana. A 4 time Superbowl champion Bradshaw was an important piece of Chuck Noll's puzzle in building the Pittsburgh Steelers dynasty through the draft.
As a young kid in the late 70s I became a BROWNS fan... whenever Terry dropped back and you can count to 3...you were going to get hurt bad..here comes the the deep pass
Terry Bradshaw was by today’s standards a jay cutler
He was hilarious in the movies too
He is naturally funny.
TB is clearly an animal lover. That’s all I need to know. Those who love the birds of the air and the beasts of the fields are clearly tight with God.
With Terry and Chuck Noll were oil and water. Chuck being the cold business approach and Terry the southern boy farm boy who loved being social. Terry even said it himself if he would have loved to be on another team with a coach like say Pete Carroll who was the players coach who congratulated everyone. The thing is those two won 4 Super Bowl together. Somehow through the uneasy relationship they won together. Terry had that TV persona of being a goof, but in reality a goof doesn't get to call their own plays. Terry did and Chuck trusted Terry enough to do that. The thing all Terry wanted was Chuck Noll to give him a pat on the back and say good job, Chuck wasn't that type of person. Chuck was the type of coach where if you practiced and prepared for the week, your play on the field speaks volumes. Even Chuck's own son said his dad wasn't the hugging type of father.
19:29 Ooh, needed replay on this one!!!
Wow. Terry is just a good ol boy from Shreveport who is smart and wise. He has the last laugh.
4:19, Terry just ran over a defender. As a 23 year old, who grew up in the modern NFL, this is absolutely baffling to me. People weren’t kidding, it was a different game back then!
Him an Dale sr the night before the 01 Daytona 500 was a good one
Man this mf a character 😂 Terry is that guy
😂 my all time favorite QB
Never liked the 'Stillers'...but hey, 4-0 baby.
This guy had guts, determination. What else is there?? AWESOME.
Aside from the obvious he was one tough SOB.
“I’ve seen guys hands split from trying to catch terrys balls”
Bradshaw was a killer
We share the same birthday September 2nd 😊
At least 10 HOF enshrinees on those SB teams. DANG!
and a lot of Steeler fans talking about Kenny Pickett isn't the guy for Pittsburgh, didn't watch the life of Terry Bradshaw...he was sacked for safeties in his first 3 games, & threw 6 touchdown & 24 interceptions!!!..and started 5-9 his first year!?!?!?!..😮😮😮
I agree. Give him time. He’s a tough kid with a sharp mind.
Go Steelers!
Yes always!!!
For some reason, this documentary does not talk about Phil Robertson not going to the draft or he would’ve went number one and Bradshaw would’ve not have went number one😂
Kool🎉🎉🎉🎉
Being a southern boy at it's finest
I'm gonna cry when we lose that great man
I will too. It’s been close.
Yep! Me too.
F _ _ K football. I love this guy as a man.
Bradshaw and Harris
Something else Thomas 'Hollywood' Henderson did eventually publicly apologize to Bradshaw reiterating that he watched Bradshaw's induction into the hall of fame while he was in prison.
That’s funny.
Terry in todays game with todays rules would have 500 yards a game passing.
Man TB, gotta let some ish go. Your an an all time great, you proved CK wrong or right. He clearly trusted you as he inserted you for the 74 playoff run because he knew you were the man. It appears that benching helped you one way or another.
Still love ya TB, but pettiness and grudges will leave you with a lot of regrets.
freeze at 2:51 and he looks like an aged kirk cousins
I will have to check that out!
12
He's Americas version of Jimmy greaves.
Yeah, today too many people want a superstar winning qb from their first game. Were all used to Tom Brady winning the Bowl his first year and then winning 7. Tom Brady was a freak. Hes in a league by himself. Franchises cant expect any new qb to be a Tom Brady. Terry Bradshaw was awful in his first year and wasn't a statistical god but he was a fighter, a winner, and his will and heart were huge. You cant measure that. Today tesms need to give 3 years to a qb at least. In those 3 years, you want to see a change from rookie to 3rd year. If you see a really good change for the better than you give him another 3 years. I think by the 5 th year, a coach should be sble to realize if this guy is going to take us to the super bowl. The fans and media need to be not listened too for the first few years. Everyone thinks they onow whats best for there team but nobody knows more than the coach and the players. Im so sick of the media with Tom Brady is to old and all done, then he goes and wins the Superbowl again. Terry was a good qb, very good but people immediately say, he would've sucked in this era. That doesn't mean shit. He didn't play in this era and wont. Pittsburgh was the team in the 70s. Terry, Franco, and the steel curtain. Lynn Swann was my favorite receiver. Joe Montana was my favorite qb. I was a Pats fan but was a fan of the game so i loved players from other teams. Loved Bradshaw, just hated that he beat us Pats all the time. Pittsburgh stuck with him when the fans wanted him out. He was dumb. Lol. You cannot be dumb if your a qb in the nfl. To much to learn and winning 4 Superbowl proves he was smart. Very smart.
Loved that he called his own plays!!!
He's me
22:48
Loved Bradshaw until he criticized Aaron Rogers for not taking the shot.
He criticized him for lying about it.
If your name is spelled "Terry," it's a boy's name. I have crushed on girls named "Terri" before though. They were foxy.
I don't like the revisionist history they portray about Bradshaw's last two Super Bowls.
Yeah he threw four touchdowns against Dallas.
But he also had three turnovers.
He threw two touchdowns against the Rams.
But he also had three turnovers.
He got two MVP awards, and it could have been argued he shouldn't have gotten any.
Stallworth should have gotten the one in Super Bowl XIV.
