Thanks! I’m relieved too. He’s back to normal now. He’s trotting barefoot all over the stable yard. Almost like he’s showing off now. Looks like it’s been a bleed in the foot from what his feet have shown. Xx
It’s going extremely well ☺️. We still need hoof boots for hacking on roads/stoney tracks etc but it’s going extremely well. Did our first XC competition which was brilliant. All in all it’s going really well xx
Hiii :-) I'm very interested to hear about your journey & so sorry for the nightmare you've been having recently - these beasties are a worry! Just thought I'd share something which may explain the abscess lameness (if it was that, of course).. Many moons ago, we had a Shire on the yard who was shod as a yearling to show (groan)! When he came to us & the shoes came off, over the next year, he abscessed in all 4 feet in turn while they healed. He's never abscessed since! As shoes reduce blood perfusion through the hoof by quite a large amount (Prof. Robert Bowker's vids explain this in some detail with scan images -he's done an amazing series with x-rays, cadaver hooves & radiographs), plus shoes cause the hoof to load periferally & increase concussion, they really do damage (& contract) the feet over time. Your boy's feet were probably pushing the dead tissue out to allow healing. Hopefully the only way is up now! 🤞 If you like to read, I can recommend a brilliant barefoot book.. Feet First: Barefoot Performance & Hoof Rehabilitation - it's so informative. I'm interested in hearing your opinion on scoots as you use them, through mud, on different terrain etc. Going to have to splash out on some new boots soon so currently reading up again! My girl's v sensitive to sugars too & I find the lami app useful (like you said, if just for peace of mind). Hopefully, RUclips's algorithms will show me more of your vids & I can follow along on your journey. Good luck! Your boy is absolutely gorgeous (& obviously a comedian too 😂) 💜
@@joabson9166 don’t worry about it at all! I really appreciate the time you’ve taken to message. It actually turned out not to be an abscess as far as I could tell! It looked like severe bruising which came out on the right fore hoof. I do like the scoot boots but I prefer the flex boots. I use scoots on the hind feet because they were a perfect fit and the flex boots no longer fit the hinds. Xxx
Awww thank you so much! I really appreciate the kind words. The algorithms tire me out for sure! I’ve lost a bit of motivation for you tube. I do have another vlog to create which I will try to do on the weekend but I’m very active with updates on Facebook. Make sure you hit the subscribe button here! 🥰 xxx
SENDING LOTS OF LOVE FOR SPEEDY RECOVERY ❤❤❤

Glad he’s doing better ❤
