Lynette should have been happy that Tom planned the family vacation since she always done it. Tom took initiative so Lynette didn't have to do it but he should have told her beforehand since she put down a non-refundable deposit on what she planned.
What if he repaid her the funds would it be fair or there’s still other reasons used as manipulative emotional cards to justify her control it’s not enough for her as far as we know her personality
So the kids are happy to go to Hawaii and so is Tom, but oh fuck that shit Lynette didn't get her way. So she had to scare the kids out of the trip just so she could be in control. Tom could have pitched they all go to heaven and she could have chosen hell, and she would have acted the same vicious way.
I don't understand why people think Tom and Lynette had a great marriage in this show. They had spent more than 20 years together and they were never able to overcome their own insecurities about control and simply trust each other. They could never make the other feel they were good enough and they shouldn't prove who's got the upper hand all the time. Tom was always convinced his wife only wants to wear the pants and that she didn't believe he was a strong, adult man who is capable of making decisions for his family; while Lynette believed if she didn't prove she was the boss, Tom wouldn't respect her or pay attention to her needs and she would naturally become subservient to him and Tom would leave her in the end for someone who is more confident and strong. They just lacked faith in each other and themselves all the time.
Thank. You. I hate seeing comments saying they were the best couple. No they weren't, they fought constantly, Tom got SO angry at her, and Lynette never seemed to understand.
@@sesskag17 Their marriage was easily the most toxic of them all. Tom was always so angry and upset any time his masculinity was bruised, and Lynette had a habit of gas lighting. They were NOT a good couple. When they finally split near the end I was so happy... Then they ended up back together... Ugh
Kind of but it's more about Lynette being a control freak about everything. For the first time Tom wants to make some decisions for the family and Lynette always tries to find a way to control him.
It's not really about the holiday itself, it's more about exposing Lynette's personal issues, like being a controlling person cause she had a hard childhood, and seeing Tom doing better, cause she's always been the one to save the day and handle everything etc
While I agree that Tom should have told her before purchasing those tickets (given, she always plans vacations. He should have, at least, asked if she had anything planned). However, Lynnette could have put her current vacation on hold and went along with it next year. A different vacation is not the end of the world! There's no need to make life more complicated than it has to be.
lynette is wrong here. she really couldnt handle his success coz the fight wasnt about his success in the first place. she just needs to control. sure tom went behind and bought the tickets but she was angry at not being told but turned into control
Careful what you wish for right? Remember when Lynette wanted Tom to quit his job workint for Carlos because this new job offered more money? Tom initially didn’t want to take it. He did and it was the true beginning of their downfall.
Everyone talks about how crappy of a husband Tom was (which he was), but god Lynette was AWFUL! How can a woman genuinely have issue with her husband planning a holiday for her and the kids? She was a controlling beast, who couldn’t stand the fact that Tom was finally the big shot, earning the big bucks. They ended the show with Susan & Mike apart, but it honestly should’ve been this two. The marriage was purely TOXIC!
Lynette saying that a decade before doesn't mean she was right (also this whole thing is not consistent at all since Lynette gave up her job when she gave birth to the twins so the only one making money was Tom), and people are allowed to change their mind over the years. The point here is the same that moved almost all the dynamics in their marriage: Tom being insecure and feel threatened by a wife he obviously can't handle for the simple fact that she is better than him at everything they do, at the end of the day it's Lynette who supports him because she's the pillar of it all, not the other way around.
Lynette.. We're talking about beautiful Hawaii!! Wtf is your problem? How can you say NO to a amazing trip like that?:-( If I lived in that house, I would have taken Lynette's children to Disneyland Paris and I would have completely ignored if Lynette had complained:P
Both at fault? It is Lynnette's fault, she always wants to control everyone: where they spend their vacation, what Tom's office should look like, where he needs to work, what he should do at work etc. Not only she didn't actually care about where to go, but also she spoiled holidays for her own kids, so it is completely her fault
Just watched this season for the first time and when I saw Penny crying, my heart just broke I wanted to jump in the screen and hug her right away….no child should have to witness this mess
I remember watching this show back in the days, and I thought they were the best couple ever. I was young and naive. Watching this show now, as a 40 years old, I can see how toxic are for each other. Tom is childish and insicure, but he tries to be a good husband and share his success with Lynette She is a control freak, way more than Bree, she never supports her husband and always disagrees with him, if he doesn't do things her way. They are really awful.

@@faisal1979m Yea Tom could have paid her the nonrefundable deposit cause earlier in the episode he didn't have a problem with losing the deposit.
Yes i agree. Lynette’s control issues nearly destroyed her marriage
Lynette is always whining about how she has to do everything, but the moment Tom takes an initiative she gets angry.
the delivery of that "Raging bitch" line drove deep like a sharp knife. geez...

Funny how Lynette didn't see them as equal partners ten years ago when she was earning and decided how to spend
@Jalina Curandera ya did
She always wanted control
Not surprising tbh. She was always clear about wanting to work
Husband and wife fighting for power instead supporting each other

"When you make the money you can decide how its spent" yea, I would have left her on that day. Not a way to speak to your spouse
It broke my heart that Penny witnessed her parents seriously fighting. Like the start of a divorce fight.
I was always wondering why some people would choose camping over Hawaii. The opportunity was literally there and first class tickets!
Their parents put them in an awkward place. Just shows the picking divorced kids have to do.
