    That’s total bullshit about the new model EJ blowing up. The only reason an EJ blows up is lack of maintenance, bad tuning & driving it like a race car 24/7. I have a blob eye sti pushing 550awhp stock block its been tuned like this for 8 years and still no problem. The only reason people buy A wrx over an sti is they can’t afford it. 100% fact. Im so sick of listening to fuckin wrx owners ALWAYS JUSTIFYING why they bought a wrx. Its like your all embarrassed about buying it. Who cares just be happy with what you bought.

    Congrats on the car Ryan, and you guys should really chill with all the hate, hes happy with the WRX. Whats all the matter about then? If somebody is happy driving their car, and hes completly fine with how it is, then let him be. His channel is to bring us along on his car adventures, and to have fun doing it. He shouldnt have to come to the comments of all his new videos and see all this hate.. Nice car btw Ryan, 3 people own a WRX in my neighborhood, so I see those cars like on the daily. They are a very nice ride.

    The WRX stock is horrible. I could never advise someone to buy it UNLESS they were going to modify it. I just returned my WRX to the dealer after 7 days of ownership because I was that disappointed. I'm going to lose money but at least now I am finally going to be happy with an STI.
    Part of the reason why I messed up my decision is because I listened to too many people on the internet who sprouted crap like whinging about fuel consumption on the STI and the generic comment WRX = daily, STI = track. Could not be further from the truth. They might look the same but the driving experience is COMPLETELY different.
    The STI is not about being fast, yes we know you can modify your WRX to be faster with a few grand... the STI is about the overall driving experience... the way you feel driving it, the way you feel connected to the car and the road. The WRX experience lacks that completely, for me anyway. I couldn't stand the shifter (felt like lego), couldn't stand the rev hang, the honda civic engine sound, the weak power band that drops off. I know all of these things can be "fixed" with mods, but I want my car to feel amazing stock, then I can add mods from there.
    Seriously I hope this post helps someone so they don't make the same mistake as me. Don't rationalise your decision like I did around fuel consumption, daily driving, and saving money for mods on the WRX. If you have the money GO THE STI - no questions asked. You will thank yourself!

    I almost bought a Genesis but the previous owner had lowered it and put on exhaust and while I liked the exhaust the ride was really rough... like...really bad. It went around corners well... BUT bumps....kicked your ass. I went with WRX and put a few mods into it and the best mod was probably the Cobb AP and whiteline rear sway bar. As far as beating an STI... under $1000 I doubt it.
    Stock the engine has really bad high end torque. The car NEEDS a OTS tune at least.... It opens up the higher end. I also have the ETS intake with box. Nameless muffler delete...takes off weight and sounds much better than the stock huge mufflers. I guess he likes the instant boost and early torque, I prefer the Cobb Mishimoto/ETS OTS tune. Oh yea....the stock OEM tires I was not a fan of either.... I also got a Perrin shift bushing and shift brace.

    hay man i went the same route as you and got a 17 WRX as well few months back (WR blue though) you are correct about the EJ motors blowing after hard use, but from what iv found is people that have pushed the FA motor their I beam connecting rods fail, grenade the engine block. i love my WRX but i do plan to have those swapped before i go bigger turbo. id advise looking into it yourself to see if you plan on pushing the FA hard.

    I got a 2019 wrx could have got the sti but the new 4 banger turbo and 400 pounds lighter makes the wrx faster the sti is for if you want to track race or do car shows but the wrx comfortable fast and you can put the 15 grand you save by not buying the sti into the wrx and it turns out to be a better buy but in the end you like what you like i absolutly love my rex #subie4life

      shawn woodson it might, the 2.0t was dog slow stock with awful power delivery. From a dig a stock wrx would rape a modded genesis 2.0t easily.
      There's a reason the genesis coupe never got much love in the racing scene, its just not a great platform.

  • @naturallydank95

    Just to say.. I bought a 2015 Genesis 2.0 T then I bought my 2017 wrx .
    I like both cars honestly.
    Genesis felt good but didn’t like the fake vents in the hood
    I’ve driven both sti and wrx 2015-2018.
    Boost kicks quick around 2-3g rpm in the wrx and I’m getting 27+ mpg.
    Sti you need to rev out.
    Wrx does fall flat high end but... will make you focus and is deff quick.
    I’m completely stock after 2 years of ownership and 30k and deff mods to come.
    Access port will be first.
    Good video just to say. 👌

    Not understanding this. The 2017 WRX mods well, but so does the 17 STI.
    In our crew we have 3 preferred AWD platforms- evos, stis, and 3000gt vr4s.
    The 3000GT VR4 is the fastest stock to stock due to the gearing, the other two arent as fast stock but mod better and handle better.
    We have some wrxs as well, but the sti is definitely preferred. There's a reason theres a price increase for the STI- its just all around more performance oriented.
    In a stock to stock race vs, lets say, an evo x, 2017 STI, and 94 and up 3000GT VR4, the 2017 wrx will be left in the dust easily. By 100mph the VR4 is in front, with the STI behind it and the evo x a bit behind the STI (the evo x was the weakest stock evo imo), and the 17 wrx would be car lengths behind the others. Throw mods on all of them, and the it will be similar results, the wrx will be behind the others if equally modded.
    If you're going for pure performance and modding potential, you should have gotten the STI.

    • @painfullz_4554
      @painfullz_4554 6 лет назад +1

      This is so far from being true lol. ej257s mod for mod are so shit. An evo with basic bolt ones (i.e. intake full exhaust tune) on 93 octane will walk an sti full bolt ons e85. Evos make 430+ whp stock turbo full bolt ons e85, stis on the other hand can barely break 340 whp bolt ons and e85. Also, these fa20 engines can make 380 whp full bolt ons e60. The ej257 is a shit engine, and is far from being mod friendly.

      Painfullz _ also, i should have prefaced which evo x i was speaking about. The MR Evo X isn't all that quick stock.

    WRX and STi's are MAD fun to drive! I have an STi, and yes I totally agree with the WRX. I got my STi for a great bargain because it was used. So, that what great BUT the car insurance is a b*tch! and I'm so not touching my engine. I would have preferred the WRX for cheaper car insurance, gas mileage and softer suspension. ...but I love both cars for different reasons. Having an STi makes it hell when you're trying to buy a house, or have children or any major responsibilities. I seen people on youtube who devoted their whole channel to their STi, and had to give them back to the dealership. I'm in LOVE with both cars though. Have to say, nice upgrade over your Hyundai tho. The 3.8gt /2.0t genesis coupes weren't popular for a reason...both are disappointingly slow stock, and neither mod as well as a wrx does. Stock to stock the wrx would probably waste both, and mod vs mod the wrx easily wins.
    I didn't even realize the genesis coupe had a following until i came across this page, i forgot they even existed.
    Considering youre coming from a genesis coupe, this is a nice upgrade. Just throw some mods on it so you don't get gapped by other stock AWD cars like the Mitsubishi 3000GT VR4, Mitsu Evos, and STIs, as well as older Audi S4s.
    Biggest problem with the wrx is its gearing, they run out of breath after 100mph.

So is a give and take the sti is more raw the wrx is more livable day to day driving. Also no the sti was killed off and not getting any FA motor. That's not to say all this pros and cons can be fixed but imo the only thing the wrx has better than the sti is the FA motor and turbo that is it

    • @300zxttswap6

      The 3.8gt r spec is slow as fuck stock, takes waaay more $ to mod, and is honestly slower stock to stock and mod vs mod than the 2017 WRX....
      The 3.8gt r spec only has rarity going for it. It wasnt a great platform, hence why you hardly ever see them at the strip or the track.

      300ZX TT SWAP you obviously dont know shit about gen coupes. My bk1 3.8 with just bolt ons and a tune makes 320whp. A good tune is what really wakes these engines up. Also at 320whp a wrx will blow a bearing. But i guess you didnt mention reliability since you drive a 300zx, so you're used to cars that break down all the time...

    • @brandonhauser1009
      @brandonhauser1009 6 лет назад

      300zx, you have no idea what you are talking abt but when I had my car stock it put me in my seat lol. I did race a wrx stock and beat it with my genesis coupe 2013 genesis coupe 3.8 gt vs 2017 wrx at the time. wrx are not as fast as a genesis coupe that`s why stock 0-60 is 5.2- 5 secs for the genesis coupe and wrx is 5.5 secs. sti on the other hand would be a good match up for a 3.8l and wrx is a good match up for the 2.0t lol. Not saying genesis coupe is the fastest thing out their but your point is wrong wrx are not even fast. I will bet you never even been in a genesis coupe ever and then to tell me they are slow that is pretty pathetic on your part.

      The genesis coupe never caught on for a reason.

    Not hating on you but. Getting a WRX instead of a STI is a mistake. If you can’t afford the STI. Save and wait. Don’t just buy a WRX. It’s like the IPhone 8 and the iPhoneX. Buy the better one and not the cheaper one. 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️. My STI will 100% dust your WRX

    • @ThatStiGuy95
      @ThatStiGuy95 5 лет назад

      Yea man I agree. I said screw it and got a STI just for the reputation, Brembo brakes, Recaro seats, upgraded suspension, differential, unequal length headers, and much more. I have a 2019 STI, and couldn't be happier. My opinion it's the same thing as if someone bought a V6 Camaro. why not throw extra cash down and get a V8 😆🤦‍♂️🤷‍♂️

      Insanitykills 187 by the way the sti has the si drive mode “s” or “s#” whichever mode you’re in makes a huge different in throttle responses, and the Wrx does not have that.

The amout of disrespect in the things that are said is crazy to me. Your making content for your viewers like don't watch his shit if you think the content is stupid as far as what he wants to do with his car. Huge difference between let me know what you think i should do next for open minded options and just being plain disrespectful to a youtuber.

      You clearly know nothing silent. Who the fuck buys a wrx to leave it stock ??? Someone who can’t afford to buy car parts!! Just an FYI, I have a 13 wrx with invidia full exhaust, n1 Cb hf cat & a torqued performance stage two tune on my accessport & my buddy has identical mods as this and I walk him every single time. We used to commute to work an hour each way together & I honestly can say I would never buy a new wrx ever. The only appealing thing is the six speed tranny you get as opposed to the five speed that’s stock in mine. While you’re shifting into 4th, I’m
      Still pulling away from
      You in third you twat :). Have a good day !!! Hector you know your shit!

    • @ThatStiGuy95
      @ThatStiGuy95 5 лет назад

      @@RyanJosephBills I guess that could be true. But the only way u can compare the WRX and STI is doing it stock. Obviously a Stage 1 WRX would beat a Stock STI. Not a comparison lol.

    Point blank the current sti is not worth the money you pay. The current sti engine is a dinosaur and showing its age the wrx has the same 0 to 60 as the current sti. Which is why I'm waiting for the sti to get an fa engine

  • @mg-by7uu

    I bought a 2017 WRX Premium with 600 miles on it because I got a great deal. But there is a reason someone got rid of a car that had 600 miles on it. If you don't plan to modify your car then don't buy the WRX. It's horrendous tune, atrocious rev hang, disgusting throttle mapping, grabby clutch, and early torque make it an awful daily driver. It is literally painful to drive since 20% of the pedal is full throttle. The majority of the time your toes will be pointed straight up at the sky and it is definitely not an ergonomic position. Not to mention it loses power so hard after 4800 rpm that the car lurches forward. As far as the suspension I think it rides worse than the STI but that could be the aforementioned issues affecting ride quality. Subaru is building my 2019 STI right now and I can't wait to get out of the WRX.
