      LGB trains are teeny tiny versions of _these_ engines.

    I was unaware there were other two foot gauge railroads other than Edaville in the U.S. the western narrow gauge was three foot. Once Covid and winter let up we will have to visit this place.

      Wasn't there an extensive network of two foot gauge in Maine?

    Why does the Number 1 plate on the smoke box door keep turning around?

      It's because it's mounted to the screw handles for the smokebox door locking mechanism. Otto (#1) is a German-built locomotive and the smokebox door is locked with a screw-and-bar mechanism with rotating handles on the front of the smokebox. When the numberplate was put on Otto, it was set so that it could be made level when the smokebox was closed. As Otto rolls and bounces down the track though, it will sometimes spin a bit. I've seen it sideways, upside down, and at all sorts of weird angles. It's a finicky process to get it straight, and Heaven help you if you touch it once it's straight.

    The saddle tank looks German was it brought in from Germany by chance?

    • @FleegletheGreat
      @FleegletheGreat  4 года назад

      Yes it was. 0-4-0T #1 "Otto" came over in 1966 after it was purchased by four brothers. The arrival of the locomotive marked the founding of the railroad.

      The whole engine is from Germany with everything being the same, nothing has changed on it for the 83 years it’s been a thing
