I’m surprised to see a comment like this, how do you feel about all the rap songs kpop groups have always made, even back to the 90s groups like HOT? Or the drill song enhypen put out recently? Or all the disco/80s songs of the last few years? Just as examples. Those are all drawing on western genres and kpop has been doing it forever. Do you feel the same way about those, or do you dislike this because it’s taking inspiration from a different western genre (raggaeton) than normal? /gen (just curious)

Kpop identity is primarily on the top line, and this topline is 100% kpop. You can say what you want about the instrumental, but like someone already commented, kpop has been using other genres to create instrumentals from the start. So I don't know what western songs you're listening to that sound like this.
