My friends and I used to play this song on repeat, when it first came out, while we drove around New York. It was a very different time; Dance and Electronic music (and their various incarnations) were King back then, and their influence made up the bulk of mainstream Pop hits. Lady GaGa's 'Born This Way' album had also just been released, and the sound and aesthetic surrounding that album had permeated almost every up-and-coming Pop/Indie/Alternative artist. You can clearly see/hear those influences here in Miliyah's 'Desire'. It brings back really happy memories for me. I've grown tired of most of the music I loved back then, but hidden gems like this song come back to me every now and again. Thank-you for recording this song, Miliyah. It meant a lot to me back then, and means a lot to me now. 🙇🏽💝
