You forgot to say, "Hey, neighbor, how is your garden growing?" I love that cheery greeting, lol!
Awww! It will definitely be in next weeks video 👍
I want them all!!! But I will say, your videos have made me notice, and appreciate the "weeds" like frogfruit growing in my yard. I even propagated it, put it in my raised bed, and it spilled over it with little flowers all the way down.
Yay!!!! That makes me so happy 😄
Nothing beats Firebush, Beautyberry, Coral Bean and Coral Honeysuckle for central and south FL. I’m convinced I have the world’s largest Coral Bean. It’s about 30 ft tall and is a true tree that was never suppose to become a tree 😂
I went to Sweet Bay! Totally worth the drive for me. I ended up getting beach verbena, potterweed, the buttonsage lantana, tropical sage and Eastern Beach sunflower for a project in my community. Thank you so much for sharing so much info on our natives! I can't wait to see the butterflies fluttering in our community's common areas
Another one I love is Privet Cassia. It took off in my yard, so low maintenance, and I had about 10 yellow caterpillars all over it recently once the butterflies spotted it!
I have all of those except frog fruit. I have sunshine mimosa instead, plus beach sunflower. I actually have a lot of native flowers in my yard. They do better than all other plants I have. I love the native!
❤ love your videos🤠
My favorite Florida Native is Yarrow. It attracts wasps which kills pests.
If in Zone 9A or lower, Firebush will likely take freeze damage in Late January/Early February. The damage can kill it back by half or even knock it back to roots, but it will start coming back in March. To minimize freeze damage, don't trim off damaged material until after last frost.
Fire bush is such a fantastic plant. Aside from the insects, butterflies and hummingbirds that it attracts, the birds love the fruit it produces. Mockingbirds and cardinals in particular.
Sunshine Mimosa is another great beginner friendly plant.
Awesome suggestions thank you ☺️
You are welcome ☺️
Such a fun informative video ❤
Glad you think so!
I really liked this video!
Thank you ☺️
I have all the things except the Salt & Pepper plant (can’t find it in my area). The Tea Bush, large Bidens Alba and Bee Balm are the favorites in my yard with all types of bees. We have a wild honey bee hive living in my neighbor’s pine tree but we have sweat bees/bumble bees/etc. Love watching them flitter about my yard. 🐝🐞🐛🕷️❤️
Yay!!! I’m so happy you have so many of the native plants in your garden! Also check for Snowy Squarestem (Melanthera Nivea is the scientific name). Sometimes they go by different names.
I love native porterweed
I wish the big box stores carry more of these native plants. The only one I see is the Firebush.
My tea bush froze last winter. I am in Northwest Seminole County, right at the northern end of 9B.
Yes mine did too, Jacksonville zone 9a. It did not come back from its roots like firebush does.
Wonderful
Thank you ☺️
Great video.
I hope you didn't get any damage from tornadoes the other evening.
Thank you! And thank you for checking in on our safety Fred’s! We are safe and sound here 😊
I’m attempting to add native flowers, but nowhere in my lawn gets full sun because of trees. How about native plants for partial shade yards?
What nursery are you filming from? It’s been a challenge to find many of those native plants in my area.
I was at Sweet Bay in Parrish! They are amazing! Soooooo many amazing plants! Leah and Cindy have been so helpful answering my questions! Leah helped me put together this list of plants 👍
Buen video
Where can you purchase all of these in the Pensacola area? I’m finding it hard to get native plants.
I also just got some porterweed and these are NOT ground cover, they get to 4’ tall x 4’ wide… where do you get the ground cover ones?
Love these! It may be native but it feels invasive... do you have any advice for clearing sandspurs? My yard is FULL of them.
Yay! I'm glad you like the list! I do not have any experience cleaning up sandspurs :(
Do you have a video for a pollinator plants and design for a raised bed?
I have a firebush plant that I put in the wrong spot. It's crowded between two gardenias. Can I move it after many years in that spot? I noticed that the plants you showed were in full sun. Is that good for firebush? Thanks 🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋
I wouldn’t move it… but you can definitely propagate it from cuttings or from seed. I have a video showing how… just search firebush propagation in RUclips.
@@WildFloridian Thanks 🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋
Which nursery were you doing this presentation?
I was Sweet Bay in Parrish 🥰 Leah was amazing there!
@WildFloridian, thank you very much.
What nursery are you visiting when you film videos away from home?
This video was filmed at Sweet Bay in Parrish on the south side of Tampa Bay. But I’ve also filmed at Wilcox in Largo and Little Red Wagon in Tampa.
Will native porterweed be grow in coastal sc
Can you put frogfruit in a garden path? Will it tolerate being walked on?
It will jump out of the path so be prepared to edge it or be ok if it jumps into other beds. Yes it can be walked on. We stand and walk on our backyard frogfruit all the time and my 45lb dog sprints across it.
wow I thought frogfruit was a weed too!! Are these all dog safe?
Yeah they are i have a dog I bought all them for my dog
I have a lot of issues with ants farming aphids all over my firebush plants to the point where it’s almost killing them. I try to prune the affected parts off without taking too much, but does anyone have any tips to deal with this? I’d rather not use any poison on the ants.
Are any of these toxic or unsafe for dogs?
😊👍
