To use backslide while facing the enemy, you need to lock onto the enemy and perform an attack. As soon as you do, input the move for backslide while holding back and letting go of the lock on button in one motion.
Not sure if he''s going to answer so I'll do it. You have to switch weapons twice very quickly. When I do weapon switch I press the switch and the attack button at relatively the same time. So after the attack is done it's jump cancel--> weapon switch--> weapon switch + attack. Hope that helps.

Beautiful guide! Slow and very precise with tips. Actually the only video that made able comprehend what beasts like the legendary donguri(Dante himself) do in his combo videos and gave me a sense I can do it too. Long rant, but I felt too happy watching this vid.
I'm having so many issues trying to do this, picked up the first two parts of basic jump cancelling pretty well, but once I have to start changing up styles and weaponry, it's like my brains been fried trying to remember to do it xD. Ah well practice makes perfect I guess.
For any new console players out there go to legendary darkknight difficulty and go to mission twelve with dante you will have your fair share of scarecrows to practice on have fun

As an average player, I've finished Dmc 4 without relying on methods like these and just playing it normally. Due to the fact that I don't know how to do them of course. This vid makes me want to reinstall Dmc 4 to learn and master how to do combos hahaha. A really helpful vid sir! Liked and subscribed. Also, I just wanted to ask your personal opinion, which is better, using a keyboard PC, or a controller (Xbox 360/Ps3)?
I would take the time out to learn this but I play console... And it's tedious to have to try and test these on enemies who do eventually die. So I just play the game and try to self teach myself things. However, this tutorial did still help me realize enemy step is a very useful tool for Dante. I just can't do the many difficult moves with JC
Just keep trying. Play the first couple of levels of Bloody Palace. Launch the Scarecrows into the air and press B A (O X) by sliding your thumbs. This won't guarantee and infinite combo, but doing that enough times will allow you to start seeing where you're attacking too early or too late. The goal is not to rely on the sliding method, but to press the attack and jump buttons at the right times. I recommend watching Chaser's hands video.

First of all, "born" is the proper verb when in the past tense. Second, Chaser will most likely get the game eventually. I love the game myself, but I have to admit that the combat is not as deep as DMC3 or DMC4. That doesn't mean you can't do advanced combos in the game, UltimeSon has proved that with his videos. I just don't think Chaser is interested in playing it right now. I hope they make a sequel though..
Dude... I've been trying jump cancelling for like 2 hours... I kinda got the hang of it at the mega scarecrow part but I still can't get it right 70% of the time when I try JC on an enemy in the air. The JC just doesn't activate sometimes... and I'm sure I was close enough to the enemy. In fact... not even Air Hike activates sometimes. Srsly wtf is the problem? What am I not doing right?! It's so damn frustrating D:

so, I believe JC ing easier to be done in turbo mode since I can slide my thumb from jump to style button, but it is harder to change style and weapon mid combo in turbo mode :p

It is a valid strategy for sure since you are much safer in the air and singling enemies out along with manipulating the camera works well in all dmc games.I agree that most the enemies in this game can be really annoying so it's always nice to launch them one by one and jc them to death,frosts and angelos are good for doing that but on dmd enemies tend to break out combos so you need to chase them and relaunch them.Chimeras i just don't approach at all,i use guns to deal with them since they are cheap.
@@theodorematsouliadis5124 To a degree DMC3 was kinda like that too. You ever fight triple hell vanguard on floor 8000+ in bloody palace? They just spam their teleport charge attacks the entire time, it's almost comically unfair, I can't even get mad about it if I lose to them
@@achair7958 I totally feel you,i get totally overwhelmed onsome of the fights on the upper floors and i end up panicking and getting hit.I also hate fighting blitzes in 4 with trish.

The electrical shield is bad enough, but the fact that ranged swordmaster moves like round trip and drive don't work on it is really terrible and doesn't even make sense. Not to mention, even when you do get the shield down they still have an unreasonable amount of super armor.
Is it normal to be able to JC perfectly on DMC 3, but are complete utter shite at JCing in DMC 4? Cos I just can't seem to get it down in this game. Any tips?
I fell like, in DMC4, the enemies keeps backing away from Dante, to a point I can't jump cancel anymore. It's like enemies take more 'space' than they did on DMC3. I fell like I hit enemies from far in DMC4, and they are less crowded. DMC4 lacks the crowded fights DMC3 had in the Love Planet and Skull chamber. It's way harder to perform multi-enemy combos in DMC4.
y i havnt seen any dmc 4 combo artists use lucifer's abilty to make the blades follow dante arround by holding down the style button .I found u could keep the blades forever near dante. My ps3 is out of reach now to play DMC 4 anymore , so i can only watch others do it :( . Chaser can u showcase combos using lucifer as the primary combo weapon rather than a jump cancel thing, i know it doesnt deal damage on contact but i feel it has the same depth as Nevan even if it lack Nevan damage.

If for what ever reason I wanted to do a lot of this on the Xbox 360 version, is there something different about enemy health and hit boxes or something between the Xbox version and the PC version? I'm just talking about the technical stuff. I know this was the case between vanilla dmc3 and dmc3se. And if there is a technicality difference between the Xbox and PC version, does dmc4 special edition have the PC versions technicality?

with all those inputs does it matter if your locked on to the enemy in some parts of the video you are locked on and some parts your not locked on the enemy im just wondering if it matters if you need to be locked on or not when jump canceling, its a little hard when your holding right bumper and trying to switch weapons

If I remember correctly Chaser uses a PS3 controller. He made a video of what his hands look like as he is playing.

+Sam dot Well if you haven't already, I would strongly recommend switching gun attack to R2 or L2, and maybe switch your DT button as well.

I had the same problem going from 3 to DmC to this, just keep experimenting with timing

Jcing on DmC is a joke. Just... A 9 year old could do it, its that easy.
