    Great video, just about to offer an online course on my website and was considering Vimeo, after being put off by the high price of Wistia. Your video has given me all I need to know, thanks very much.

    Hi Jason, Thank you for always uploading great and educating videos, just a quick question, if i use the plus plan, will my student be able to share my link to a 3rd party? or i need to upgrade to pro before my course link can be protected? Thank you so much as i await your response.

    Hello Jason, I hope all is well !
    Is it good to use VIMEO , if i'm going to use the embedded link on my wordpress website to host my online courses?
    i've seen a lot of videos telling(How to download vimeo videos) so., it's a bit confusing, what do you recommend?
    Thanks

      That would be the way to do it... It's inevitable that people will try and steal your content regardless of what video hosting solution you choose

    Hi Jason, I've found your content really valuable - just as well as getting support from platform providers like Vimeo is difficult! Do you know the answer to this query. We want to license videos to corporates, i.e. X courses for Y users for $Z. Is it possible to set this up using Vimeo privacy settings or is it necessary to set this up through our website?

    • @JasonAWhaling
      @JasonAWhaling  4 года назад

      That's something you need to do through your website. You'll be able to hide your videos from Vimeo and set it up so they can only be played on your site, but the licensing needs to be done through your site

    • @JasonAWhaling
      @JasonAWhaling  5 лет назад +1

      You can sell your course with any payment structure you'd like. That would be determined in your membership site software, not Vimeo.

  • @LifeinGlow
    @LifeinGlow Год назад

    Hmm you could have showed more details about why vimeo is better than some other platforms. I am not a newbie but it was not clear. For my 1st course choosing between Thinkific and Podia yet for the amount of students for my pilot launch with 1 year access to the course, the price of basic subscription where I need certain features, is still too much (unreasonable).
    Wonder how would a course look on vimeo (not just embedding vimeo videos to your website). And also whether they allow to have quizzes, surveys and show students' progress bar.

    • @JasonAWhaling
      @JasonAWhaling  Год назад

      Thank you for letting me know how I dropped the ball on this one.
      With vimeo you'll still need another platform to host and protect the content (my fav: jasonwhaling.com/thrivecart). Then you embed the videos inside the membership site

    Okay... I'm convinced.
    I go over to vimeo - where I've been a customer for a decade - and search for your channel... only to discover that your courses are there, but you're not using it as an advertising platform for your own creations...
    * * *
    And this video is released a day before you release another video on the 3 reasons why vimeo is NOT a good choice for hosting video...
    * * *
    I'll go back and watch them again to see how they differ, but I would, at first glance, decide that your sincerity is in question here...
    You argue both sides... then use the one you decide isn't a good fit for what you do...
    AND change your favorite a day later... hmmm...
    * * *
    Until that time...

    • @JasonAWhaling
      @JasonAWhaling  6 лет назад +1

      That's correct, I only use Vimeo to host the videos, not sell or promote them.... For the multiple videos it's my goal to provide both sides of the argument to help you make a informed decision. I see you saw my 3rd video on Vimeo vs RUclips... that video is my personal recommendation.

    • @JasonAWhaling

    So what Learning Management Software do you use for your courses? I take it that you only use Vimeo Plus to host the video then you enter the link of that video on a LMS (with a nonvisible link to video watcher). I guess you cannot use something like LifterLMS or others like it.

    I assume a common traffic flow might be: uTube > Landing Page > Vimeo Course.
    Do you have a video on where to host your landing page? Does Google try to keep traffic from leaving uTube, and if so, how do you get around that?
    P.S. You're awesome.

    I'm someone who's using Vimeos platform as a student and I'd tell any instructor who wants to make an online subscription site to NOT use Vimeo. It messes up something as simple as making a payment. The navigation is really poor and the home pages that I've visited don't have any of the information a first time visitor wants. Is that the creator's fault? Yes - to a degree. Anyone who's looking to build their own subscription site would be better off doing a lot more research and really spending time building a site rather than using a ready-made platform with issues . Not that it has to be that hard. There are premade templates or plugins that help. But Vimeo is just bleh - saying this as someone who's just trying to follow classes online

    • @JasonAWhaling
      @JasonAWhaling  4 года назад +2

      Thank you for sharing your story! I would defiantly agree that it's not great for online courses. It works best if it's on a wordpress site and the videos are embeded there.

    There is no privacy on vimeo. Anyone an download your content when you embed it to your website, you can make it private, non downloadable, but no sense. If the video can be downloaded, then blocking it embedding on other unauthorized websites is a useless act.

    • @JasonAWhaling
