Love the color, I don't think it's too dark. I'd suggest built in bookcases on either side of the fireplace, and flames in a fireplace are always a good idea.

Fire place idea sounds fab too.

Love the color very much ! It is making the space kind of cosy and also chic. Love the fireplace and i would put some bricks in it that is making the contrast with the fireplace paint like silk and rough. We do have the same fireplace like you do, and in the beginning we did use Ethanol but the effect was minimum, so we bought a electric one with almost real looking fire ! Plus if you wanted it can blow warm air into the room, but we don t do that because we have central heating. Love the English houses very much, not to big and with very amazing details like your house. Love this video and i subscribe to see more of this nice decorations ! Greets from The Netherlands !

Please paint the window trim and door!!! Love the colour❤❤❤Ethanol chimney will be lovely using those personally and so easy to light up and zero maintenance, tile it up following a pattern you have already in your home to tight it in it will give a lot of character and be a focal point entering the room...

Usually I prefer darker colours but I'm not sure if I would be satisfied with this one. It's a little too grey for me. The colour could have been richer!? Anyways... with some lights in soft, warm tones and some colourful accents it will look very chic. Because it really depends on the architecture and history of a house. Always love to see someone giving the love and putting the effort to create a home. If it fits your personality - it's absolutely perfect. So many homes look sad and liveless. So you did an awesome job by giving this house some personality and a soul. I'll definitely steal the idea of painting the walls and ceilings in the same colour. Love this seamless look.

New color is good choice! Over here in the states every interior is stark white which has no soul. Doing the ceiling also perfection. I think the painting deserves a frame. Your garden looks great after your cleanup. Looking forward to next video.

HI Ash. Looks beautiful. With Farrow & Ball paint, I would advise getting it from one of their stores or stockists as they can mix the paint. In the DIY chains, they have batches of the paint which doesn’t work so well when you want to do a refresh/touch ups.
With the picture, I would leave it as it is, leaned against the wall over the fireplace unframed as it looks naturally beautiful.

Portrait would look great in an ornate gold frame, it'll cost you, but worth it and something you'll have forever. Personally, I would do a picture light above the portrait. it would be very dramatic at night. Lights on the side will create unwanted shadows and there are so many things you can put on the mantle like hurricanes, candlesticks, vases. New paint color was a great choice.

I painted my Hollywood condo in F&B dead flat and be warned- I sold that place years ago and the paint is still a running joke. If it gets touched at all, there’s no cleaning it and no touching it up because the matte finish doesn’t match with layer touch ups. The whole wall section has to be repainted. It’s beautiful but horrific to maintain. Best for ceilings and places where people don’t touch or scuff or really do anything but look. Good luck!!

A gilded frame for your painting is a must,it will give it more impact . Unless you are going for a dark academia look you will need some contrast either in paintings or drapes to lift the mood of your rooms. Grey can be too grey sometimes in my opinion. Victorians also used beautiful wallpapers if that’s what you’re going for in your design.

The colour is good. Stay with gilded picture frames - they create unity in the ground floor and it's fantastic how they catch the light in lamp, candle or fire light. You might, however, leave the gentleman unframed just to create a small visual jolt among all the other pictures. Great job.

I like the new colour, it adds a little bit of drama to it. Which is fitting for a Victorian house. I really like your channel, it’s so nice to see how fast you improve your vlogs. It’s not too slick and not too messy, it’s just right. I’m inspired now to tackle my hallway this weekend. Just have to wait until my son’s home so he can carry the paint and accessories 😂.
About the fireplace: I just had the limestone slabs removed (a pain to clean with a dog and cat who feel the need to trample all over it) and replaced them with emerald green zelliges (glaced handmade Maroccan tiles with just a hint of a mother of the pearl shine to it). Easier to clean and they add a bit of colour

I love how you painted out all of the trim with Mouse's Back, it is elegant. If it were my home, I'd remove that second (faux) fireplace in the dining area. Do you ever paint the radiators? We did for the first time ever when redecorating one room recently. We used the same colour on the radiators, skirting boards and door surrounds. Also in the hallway, the walls of which which are very dark chocolate up to a certain height (pretend panelling!). Glad you are not afraid of dark colours. A darker wall colour is calming and also emphasizes the view from the windows.

Congratulations! I love walking into a room that reaches out and hugs you and won't let go. Such a welcoming feeling. As a guest you want to be invited back over and over because you've just been loved in a way you never knew you needed or wanted. Ash, keep going for moody and seductive. Candles, dim lights, a fabulous meal with stimulating conversation is the sexist experience a host can give a guest. Please keep doing what you're doing!! BTW, I'm free for dinner anytime next week. 🙂

13:28 Why not get a picture light from Pooky Lighting, the company you mentioned in a previous vlog. They have them battery operated, and they truly enhance an oil with no glazing, especially one where the subject is dark.
17:05 Limestone would fit your monochromatic colour scheme the best, in my opinion, or a predominantly black/grey tile with a touch of blue and orange/red.

Ah, you're a braver man than I am, Ash! I'd be too afaid to color drench! I think whether it works well depends a lot on the dimensions of the room, the style of the room, and the color chosen, though. I think it looks nice in your house, but I liked your house before you painted as well. It really is just a different mood. I think that the new color really goes well with all of your artwork, too - and I always love your frames. I think in your location (London), there is access to a lot more really good older art than where I am (Phoenix). And, of course, region dictates so much: architectural style, access to certain kinds of art, and compatitibilty of art/furniture with the rooms themselves, and even the nature of natural light itself. Anyway, I love your videos!

    • @TheFiown
      @TheFiown Месяц назад

@@ashmazzina I know right ! In my old Paris apartment I had a terrible experience with one fairly pale colour and swore never again then in my last house I prepped the walls, all white then Sudbury yellow over it again and again and again and it was still terrible so I hung paintings all over it. I have a 2.5 litre pot of green for the hallway and am dreading using it but I know from experience that it is also a paint that goes 'off' and turns so I will try. F&B have sold their recipes here in France to Leroy Merlin and you can go there and order F&B for half the cost at least and choose any base. In this new old house I had planned on Sudbury again in the kitchen, really not sure if I need that hastle. A painter friend did tell me that the company had trouble for a time with their recipes. She called them Fuss & Bother ! We will see.
