    Awesome. I always learn something from you vids. Great to hear from Jim - he’s full of great info.
    Thanks.
    My SS700 doesn’t have any boots, windshield or alt air. The boot plumbing is all there but someone removed the boots years ago. It’s definitely a challenge to avoid ice and means I avoid night flying.
    I can’t justify the cost of fitting FIKI.

      14VM was picketed right. I seem to recall 52 quarts is what it took..

      @@visarma9673 holy crap they filled the engines with oil? My engines sat for five years and unfortunately I had to overhaul both of them. They actually didn’t make metal until I had about 60 hours.

    Hello Eric from Eagle Idaho.
    Jimmy’s going to have to sell a bunch of Elvis memorabilia in order to step up to the plate.
    Thank you for the video very informative.

    A great aircraft that I will hate to see her go…. I don’t have a mission for her any longer…. I picked up 14VM brand new and without any paint on her. A big part of my life will soon fly away… 14VM is the “Queen if the Fleet”…

      TO ADD:: 14VM (MAXX) has been in the Pacific Northwest since the beginning…. Where some of the worst icing conditions happen…. It’s never stoped this aircraft from flying to Germany Twice. Fly smart…. We figured we gained 5-9 knots of speed by intentionally not having them installed at the factory. To date, not having boots or a hot-plate was our plus. Climbed so quick it didn’t present a problem.

      @@visarma9673 how much do you guys want for the plane? I’m guessing paying aerostar the 70,000$ is additional, by the way the paint on that plane looks amazing

      It is still at Aerostar Aircraft waiting for funds to complete work to make it airworthy. Most likely for sale to the right buyer.

    Quick Q/ Did this airframe originally have ice boots/hot props?
    I ask because you showed us the 176 panel which has the prop heat timer fitted? (I didn’t see the gold colored boot de-ice timer.)(My SS700 has no FIKI currently but has the prop heat and de-ice timers fitted. It also has the decommissioned windshield and surface deice switches and prop de-ice ammeter fitted. I need to investigate to see if mine has FIKI plumbing installed.)

    • @AerostarPilot
      @AerostarPilot  Год назад +1

      Never had boots. Hot props were there from day one. Current owner has been involved with the plane since it was picked up at the factory.

      @@AerostarPilot Interesting. Thanks Eric. I'll have to investigate what plumbing -0684 has and get a price from A*Corp on boots if all the internals are still in place. Cheers.

      On a point of interest…. The fastest I’ve see the groundspeed was 432. SEA to CGO. Of course, winds did assist in pushing her along with our fuel burn was high since we wanted to see what she could do. Now, we have bragging rights.
