@@siguredo and how exactly is one supposed to react to this? I didn't work for his dreams because I thought he would notice me, or indeed out of kindness. Not only did I want to see more of the artwork I enjoyed, but his heroism demanded my loyalty. I'm not the star-chasing type. I knew who he was before, but I only got involved in the fandom after hearing about the incident when I realized being vocal about my support would be crucial. By that time his letter was already out on IG, and had been translated. I could see that even at his lowest point he had acted to defend vulnerable people, and as I researched his career I saw this was a consistent pattern for him. I also saw his respect for my culture, especially for the people who made great contributions to that culture but were often disregarded. Seeing my culture through his eyes entirely changed how I understood myself and my country. Obviously, I felt the need to give that respect back. And indeed, I can't say I did that. He knows my language, I don't know his. But if I had been in that theater I would have been shouting along with everyone that my childhood dream was to travel the world. Before I knew that travel costs money and takes time that can't be spared. I thought I'd have to wait until I was old, and then I thought even that had been stolen after the financial crisis. By the time I got active in Haizhe, all my dreams had been stolen or literally burned in front of my eyes. What am I supposed to do with him just giving me back my dream?
