I remember another guide I knew telling me about Roland Martin hiring local guides to pre-fish and show him where the fish were for him. Not saying Roland Martin is not a great fisherman. Just saying, that we are all human, not perfect, and people use whatever to get ahead whether from FFS to "other" methods. Sometimes people put other "people" on a pedestal and worship them without knowing or caring about the flaws in their character that are inherent in all of us.

He even makes RUclips videos demonstrating other people’s ideas like they were his own which I’ve seen in real time.

Randy is one of the most knowledgeable compassionate considerate yet.
Dependable anglers slash podcasters in the game.. Not only where when my while, how but research and Data thoughtfully gathered By himself and his posse Showing the changes in the animals behavior the habitat so on and so forth. .. I mean, it's literally the difference between those who think the earth is flat and the rest of us... It is a wide known fat that all of the bodies of water all over the planet are shrinking and losing mass. And volume. ... And I believe it was maybe also one of randy's videos or someone associated ... Where it was asked how many baths have to be. Or fry have to be hatched. Or produced in order to make 8 pound bass... One bass live to be eight pounds... And the answer was millions millions....

They need 2 completely separate Tournament Divisions in all large Bass Organizations. 1) Limited and, 2) Unlimited . 1) Limited being No ffs/ Limited Hp . 2) Un Limited being All Tech available to general public/ no hp limit. This will show organizations many things, and certainly help to cut the influences the Big Money Tech has on each organization, as well as allow each angler the opportunity to choose which side of the ffs fence they agree with. It's almost 2 different sports as things stand, and certainly unfair to the less wealthy . This would also show the organizations that a large majority of the fans would sway to the Limited class as the most desirable division, to watch and be able to potentially compete in.

    • @Wiscobassin

I have been thinking this for a long time. Two divisions or series and go from there. It would be very interesting to see what "most" do when given a choice. I also think that before it can be fact ffs needs to be studied with fish mortality and whatever metric you would want to measure to trying say one way or another this tech hurts the fish population, maybe it has been done idk. If the facts show no detriment to the fish it's unlikely it will ever change, for catch and release fish that is. I think we all agree that catching and keeping your limit more often isn't good for the fish population.

I started bass fishing in the 80's. If it weren't for the TV programs of Orlando Wilson, Jimmy Houston, Bill Dance, Roland Martin, Hank Parker, Al Lindner, all the videos I watched by Bill Dance, and including Doug Hannon, and Homer Circle, and all the local seminars I attended, by Roland Martin and Larry Nixon, Rick Clunn and others, I wouldn't have gotten better at bass fishing. These guys paved the way for everyone else, gave of their time, and their knowledge and deserve our respect. We didn't have internet, RUclips, GPS, long rods, fluorocarbon line, fancy baitcasting reels or anything else. We had 5.5'-6' pistol grip fishing rods, basic baitcasting reels, monofilament line, color selectors, paper graphs, flashers, and paper maps. We learned how to pattern fish using seasonal changes, barometric pressure, water temperature, light penetration, wind, and weather conditions. We didn't have forward facing sonar, spot lock, side scan, or any of the technologies available today but we caught fish because of what we learned from these legends.

I can see how the technolgy could help me better understand the environments I am fishing but to rely on it solely to catch fish takes the fun out of it. Like you said in a past video, if I am spending all my time looking at a screen and not paying attention to what is around me, I am missing the whole point of being out on the lake.

Hi Randy, I am on of the older guys that loves bass fishing. I competed in local and state wide tournaments, I guided in New Jersey back in the day. I meet Ray Scott when he was just starting to put together his dream. In talking with him he asked me to help organize the bass clubs in New Jersey. This happened at the Philadelphia Sportsman Show at the Civic Center in the early 70's. I had a booth with my club, the South Jersey Hookers. Yea, that was our name. lol. Well I knew the clubs, so I traveled and helped organized the clubs and they all joined Bassmaster. The biggest mistake I made was, after doing this for Ray he offered me a job working with him to travel and organize other States. Well I was married with very young children, and I didn't think I should up and travel so I did not join him. Back then Bass fisherman wanted to compete their skills against other men and learn about the bass habitat and what made bass change their patterns. So we spent days upon days fishing out of Jon boats, I didn't have the resources to buy a bass boat or a nice Jon boat so I fished out of a canoe, I learned now to fish that way and won many, many tournaments against men with nice boats. My point is we respected each other and we never used equipment to catch bass other then basic sonar. I had a portable flasher I used on large bodies of water. I fished mostly with a Mann's jelly worm and a few crank baits and spinner baits, that was all. Now the sport has changed to a point where the average angler can''t compete because of the cost of equipment. Now a days we see teenage kid's fishing out of boats that cost more than my first house did. This has taken the spot away from the average man. And that is exactly against what Ray Scott worked to establish. He wanted to teach all anglers how to fish through meetings and seminars, not to close the door to them because they didn't have a daddy who could write a check and finance the cost of competition. This for the most part has made Bass fishing a spot of who can afford it. It is a sad day.
