Kawhi was unguardable this series he averaged 32-8-5 on 61-43-90 shooting splits
You left out the 52.9% FT which brought his overall efficiency down to 57.2% True shooting. He was great but don’t get carried away. He was attempting 28 shots a game to get his 35.7 ppg. Kawhi averaged 32.1 ppg on 72.3% TS on 19 shots a game.
Luka had 49%fg, 41% 3pt and 53% FT shooting splits.
Kawhi had 61% FG, 42% 3pt and 90% FT shooting splits.
Give Kawhi 28 shots a game and he averaged 40 in his sleep. That first round series, Kawhi had efficiency on par with prime Shaq.

Also having Jrue Holiday gives Giannis more freedom to drive to the paint than having Eric Bledsoe in 2019.
In 2021, that year was the year when he figured out how to counter the wall as Milwaukee swept Miami 4-0 with the help of a better roster. Unlike in 2019 against Toronto and 2020 against Miami. I think ever since the 2021 playoffs, he has proved himself to become a playoff reliable superstar.

Your definition of 1-on-1 must not be the same as mine. But I can't blame you, since you're tryna make content. If we counted only the true 1-on-1 baskets Luka scored on him, there would only be like 4 or 5 for the whole series. Screens and late contests don't count as 1-on-1 at all.
I also think that but yah he was just doing all plays that involved Luka and Kawhi the most I don’t like to count plays where Kawhi gets screened and when he just does the running contest

Luka is good, but hes got a lot to be desired on the defensive end. Never forget that basketball is a 2 way game and even guys like KD and Lebron were once beasts defensivly before they got older. Guys with insane offense and no defense barely win in the NBA unless your name is Steph Curry. Lillard and Harden were both offensive monsters like Luka but they are both a liability on defense.

Kawhi's 2014 finals showcased his defence but arguing he clamped LeBron is an extreme reach. The Raptors reached the 2nd round without Kawhi in 2018, In 2019, they went 17 and 5 without Kawhi, so they were a really good team, Kawhi took them to the level they needed to be but the Raptors could compete with the warriors cus they were a good team, Kawhi was the person who took them over the top, best player on the team but them winning wasn't cus his defense covered the gap, his offense + defense doesn't make up the gap these offensive players have. It brings him very close but the impact these guys have on offense is greater.
I watched the 2019 finals and I don't have Kawhi lower than 5th in any ranking, but I really find it hard to see him as number 1.

Kawhi had him some possessions. Luka had him some possessions. Overall Luka shot 10/19 on 2pt field goal attempts guarded by Kawhi. And 6/19 on 3pt. Thus making Luka 16/38 when guarded by Leonard. Not the absolute best but definitely not the worst either. Kawhi did the best possible job you could ask for on a guy like Luka. In my personal opinion though I would pick Luka as the best player in this series simply because him being able to excel with the talent behind compared to Leonard. He was able to elevate the guys around him dishing the dimes and making the best reads.

I have never imagined a dude like that would actually happen. Like being un athletic but basketball savant. I never thought one of the greatest mistakes in my life is that I didn't befriend this kid when we played back in 2012, him being the most charismatic kid ever even wanted to connect. I was in awe, thinking if he is so good how elite are the kids around the world in bigger countries. How wrong I was, no second year player does this to the favorites to win it all. I would like to agree with you, but for a Lebron/Magic-esque figure, Luka is hogging the ball WAY too much. He has the highest playoff usage rate in league history. Luka is not really a pass first type of guy in the same way that those 2 guys are.

coming from a mavs fan & a big kawhi fan, he made luka work every possession they matched up. fatigue & the being the only consistent scoring threat were the reasons luka didn’t have great 4th qtrs in this series. hopefully luka w/ in better shape & the front office finding another playmaker there’s different results.

Im seeing alot about Kawhi defense against Luka’s offense, but not seeing any Kawhi’s Offense vs Luka’s defense. Like as Kawhi did give Luka clamps for most of the series, Luka could not really stop Kawhi from scoring.

Basically, one on one, Kawhi pretty much locked him down and made Luka take terrible low percentage shots, other than a couple step backs. Luka needs screens to score while Kawhi could get any shot he wanted against Luka. Luka is more like Bron offensively, elite off of pick and rolls but not very good one on one.

Kawhi waited till 2nd half to try to guard Luka, if u actually watched the whole game, Luka hunted kawhi all game, but that annoying PG 13 is denying that by icing the lane where kawhi is and denying screens. Who wouldn't be exhausted, Luka was defended by zubac, PG, Morris who always tries to injure him, and kawhi in the 4th quarter.
Luka is too bulky. If he lost weight and gained more muscle, he'd be faster with the dribble. He has great handles, but not enough lateral quickness. Losing weight, but only few pounds while strengthening the arms the legs and the torso would make him unstoppable. All the bullies like Kawhi and Lebron have that body type.

Not a chance, luka is a solid player but he’s a ballhog who has a high iq for the game, with a nasty step back 3, nothing else, his defense is too trash for him to win mvp, even harden had to step up defensively when he got his first mvp plus the rockets had a solid win record, nikola stepped up defensively as well when he got his mvp, luka’s defense is extremely below average, luka is the worst defender for someone who has superstar level stats, if he doesn’t step up defensively and takes elite defenders head on he’ll never be a top 5 player
