    its important to be bored sometimes. the world is already so stimulating if you slow down to enjoy it. been off all social media for about 6 months now and i dont plan on going back.
    also a week without music is NUTS!! great video my friend:)

    We've really come full circle when content creation compels us to watch a content creator not consume content.

    its like weed or really anything we enjoy. moderation is key and getting addicted to the things we love is easy. I hope this video blows up

    I’ve had some of these feelings and thoughts clunking around for a while, I think this gave me the push I needed. I may try your ‘cleanse’ for 7 days first just to help me make an outline on how I want to consume content moving forward. Great video!

      Yey! Thanks for watching. I would love to hear how your cleanse goes.

    hope this doesn't sound weird, but you have a really nice voice haha.
    this kind of inspires/motivates me to do the same, i'm glued to my pc like 24/7. i just worry about what to do with boredom and in general, i'm not so good at "not doing anything"

    • @RobSeib
      @RobSeib  4 месяца назад

      Thanks! Not weird - I get regular comments about my voice. Sometimes people don't like it but mostly positive.
      Yes, staring boredom in the eyes can be frightening. But I'm rarely actually doing "nothing". Writing, thinking, playing music, drawing, making games, all these things fill the space. Then I get tired and go to sleep :D

    Inspiring. As someone with a very hard time doing anything without consuming content (I'm watching this as I eat my dinner) and would like to change, I'm going to try this experiment!

      Yay! Please try the experiment and let me know how it goes. It's difficult at first and then gets easier and easier!

    Hey this is real cool. Glad I got this in my recommended. Surprised u didn't have more subs. I've always wanted to do books only for a while.

    • @RobSeib
      @RobSeib  4 месяца назад

      Thanks! I dont have many subs because Im inconsistent, I think that pretty much sums it up.
      I think books only would be awesome. they tend to take more effort to “consume”

      Oh also I have a question for you, I would love to see an update in a week or a few if you were able to keep up on only consuming content more thoughtfully like you mentioned, or if you slowly fall back into thoughtlessly watching random RUclips videos and doom scrolling.

      @@bradthunderpants3283for sure, I'm planning a 1 month update. So far it's going fairly well.

    Very inspiring video. I have been wondering if this would be something i'd be interested in doing. I am 20 years old so social media has always been present in my life. A few weeks ago i went on holiday to Australia and spent a lot less time on my phone. I am used to browsing reddit, but decided a while back to leave all the subs except f1 subs, as reddit is more like a news hub related to the sport now. I noticed it did leave an entertainment void, which has (unfortunately) been filled by instagram reels as a few friends of mine like to share memes around that way. I am planning on also quitting that part of social media and i want to try and make my yt feed in more of an inspirational center. More related to designing (i study electrical and mechanical engineering), but also mental health like healthygamers, who has covered this topic in a more youthfull way. I think a good start would be not watching yt before bed 😅. Something which i didn't have any problems with in australia, but i notice i haven't been able to keep that momentum going since i've been back. I guess what i am (or now was) afraid of was feeling bored constantly. Not for a few days, but weeks or months. Hearing you say that you could feel the boredom leaving you after day 2-3 really convinced me to try this out. I am going to meditate on it tonight and write the rules i want to follow in my journal and use that as a way of logging my progress. Again, very good video, not over the top, not some health guru thing. Just someone trying something new and documenting it. Wonderful

      Awesome Sauce! I'm very glad you enjoyed the video and it could inspire you in some way. Yeah I don't really give advice or pretend I'm qualified to tell other people what they should be doing.
      I could imagine it would take different people different lengths of time to overcome that boredom and start filling it with positive activity. I'm lucky I've got hobbies like music and game design. Either way tho, I found it surprising how little I missed all the stuff by the end of the week. I'll do a followup video after a month but so far, I've been good at moderating my intake and following my new goals.
      Also, healthygamergg Dr K is great, I like his stuff.
