    As someone who started gliding at 15 and retired a 787 captain, I can’t wait to finally get back into a glider. To feel at one with your aircraft and have such an attractive glider to wrap around me, will feel so good again. You have done an amazing job on that old girl. Thanks for re-awakening the dream within.

    Hallo Juliet, very interesting video. Thank you for showing us the development of your glider. I would suggest to think about a clip micro and a small and low cost audio recording unit. Before you take a clip you clap into your hands so that you can synchronise the video with the audio-track in your video editing system. This would improve your videos substantially. Keep up your great work. Greetings from Austria.

    at 1:41 you have put in the music twice. And you could buy a cover for your microphone to filter all the Wind noise. But other than that a great Video, we have just but a foil on the fuselage of the LS.4 not on the canopy. Well done keep it up!

    Hey Julia,
    i looks really good as it is. As far as i know for many contests it is an requirement to have (orange or red) signal foil.
    Is this black foil also for silencing/tightening the seal of the canopy or just optics?

    • @JohnBeans
      @JohnBeans 3 года назад +2

      One thing I found interesting after researching airplane colors is that in terms of visibility, color matters a lot less than you'd think. Even bright strobes only help somewhat. Primarily people worry about the heat effects of color on composite materials. Mostly these accents are for appearance.

    • @michaelderflinger5002
      @michaelderflinger5002 3 года назад

      @@JohnBeans i don't know if that is true. Of course for making a difference in visibility the coloured parts have to be quite large. But it definitely doesn't help that there are blue, grey and green paint schemes.

    • @JohnBeans
      @JohnBeans 3 года назад +1

      @@michaelderflinger5002 I don't have any links handy, but the sources I studied compared the ability of people to spot even completely bright orange and yellow planes versus white or black ones and the fact of the matter is that at a distance, it's hard to see ANY plane while flying. Does it help? Yes, a little, but the point is that compared to other factors (heat damage, attractiveness like Juliet is seeking) the visibility aspects just don't help much. Unfortunately!

    • @TheFlyingPlectrum
      @TheFlyingPlectrum 3 года назад

      @@JohnBeans Best colour for daytime visibility is Gloss black. This is why the RAF adopted that colour for it's training aircraft.

      @@TheSoaringChannel, I think it stems from an old fashioned idea that you shouldn’t add anything to the exterior of a sailplane, especially a high performance one, other than paint.
      Again, I’m a little behind in adhesive technology but, I think I was worried about it pealing off in flight.
      I don’t “dislike” the idea or the results……but…..
      And that’s where I’m currently at. Under the heading of teaching old dogs new tricks, i am doing some research on car wrap technology, just to satisfy myself.
