I imagine Jesse's editorials were filled with truths certain individuals didn't want to hear. Unfortunately truth can often be dangerous for the one telling it. Bless Jesse for being brave enough to tell that truth.
I have enjoyed each week! Jessi was a true educator. I think he loved his job. Can’t wait until next week, you have a wonderful way of reading and keeping our attention!
Thank you for another great read!! Jesse went home, roots run deep!! Your readings bring the times alive!! My Daddy’s family was very impacted by working north, no matter where we landed, Mam maw’s home at the end of the holler was home in our hearts! 🏡🙏💕
Love your reading Tipper, especially your analysis after the reading. His comparison to people leaving to autumn leaves was classic. Looking forward to next week, but sad it will be the last installment 🥲
Hi Tipper, Thank You for another Great reading. It seems like everywhere Jesse goes He finds trouble. He also seems to find good students wherever he goes as well. I can't wait to see what happens next week. I hope you have a wonderful evening and I heard that Matt got another deer today, thats so Awesome!!😊❤🙏🏻
Hey Tipper, I can't get over Jesse getting clobbered like he did. And from a guy he never had a beef with! I'm excited for next week's reading. Btw my grandfather called his wallet a pocketbook too. Continued prayers to everybody.
Education is the key to building a successful community. It teaches that a happy life is all about collaboration with neighbors and others. Education teaches us to be tolerant and makes us realize that cooperation with others builds a strong society. Today,I look at social media and realize that a tool that should make us more informed is being used to spread misinformation. Sadly it is dividing our country. Jesse brings out a valuable point on respect for those in authority is key to the young learning their place in their family, school and community as a whole. Love this story, Tipper.
Jesse seemed to approach teaching as an art...he understood what makes a student want to learn. It's sad that people from his home community want to hurt him...smh I've been enjoying this book! Thanks Tipper 🤗❤️
Reach one, teach one, EACH one. That has always been a motto of mine. I'm not sure where I heard it, but I have always thought this is so important. In every job I have ever had, I adopted this as my philosophy. Now, even though I'm new to the client/processes, I utilize it daily. It literally makes my job easier and it gives me a much better rapport with both the client and the suppliers along with my coworkers. I have been in my field for over 25 years. Reach one, teach one, each one! Thank you for another great reading Tipper! As always, much love from Texas to you and yours ❤❤❤
Tipper just love this story. You’ve done such a great job on all your selections. Never would have had the opportunity to read or hear this book. Thank you so much!
Oh my Goodness that was exhilarating I had my fist doubled up ready to help Jessie. That is no way to get a milkshake homecoming. I forget sometimes how rough and tumble the past used to be. My great Granny used to tell us stories about it. What beautiful description once again he’s able to pull us into. Your gift to read with emotion and emphasis is such a great talent God gave you, thank you for sharing that talent with all of us. Your Grand babies are gonna love that time between you and them. What a joy. Brooks. ♥️💐🍗. Happy thanksgiving to you and yours.
“Each life was the Kingdom of God within you.” When you read that, I said “Amen”. Such a beautiful quote from Jesse Stuart. Thank you for your readings, Tipper. Happy Thanksgiving!
Thank you for the reading. It has been an interesting book. Jesse and his contemporaries remind me of the menfolk from my mother’s family, even my mother. I remember my mom saying someone in the family might say something about another family member but an outsider was not allowed to say a word and they were willing to back it up with a fight. On another note, can you believe Thanksgiving is next week?! Have a great weekend, get some rest, it’ll be a busy week coming up. TeresaSue
I love this book! But I was very surprised that the guy that hit Jess and almost killed him only got a fine!! He should have at the very least got jail time. That’s like patting him on the hand and telling him “No No”. I’m glad he mostly recovered from it. Anxious to hear next week’s reading but not ready for it to end! Thank you so much for sharing.
Thanks for reading to us Tipper. Like Pap, my daddy still calls his wallet a pocket book. And because he did, i often did the same. I can remember being at church one time and saying something about my pocket book and one the other kids kind of mildly teasing me about that. But i had honestly never even thought about it sounding strange. Im probably more prone to say wallet or billfold now, but there is part of me still that, like Pap, thinks it makes perfect sense to call it a pocketbook.
I may have said this before but I can't remember so here goes another good author was John Fox Jr "the little Shepherd of kingdom come" I would love to hear u read that!
Hi tipper I really love Jrssie, i wish more teacher were like him. Im sure there are but they get in just as much trouble as Jesse . He really helped his people and i like that. Is jesse still alive? He is an utstanding person and know God is proud of him. Tipper will you be reading Christmas stories like you did last last year. I love your readings 📚 ♥️ patsy
I dont know why but I got really angry when Jesse was attacked. He did the right thing and had to pay the price. He still kept going which is a testiment to his character.
Your story about the tiny boy who's mother tricked him with psychology, made me think that Jesse's mother accidentally used reverse psychology by telling him not to come home.
The undercurrent of violence in this story or rather it’s prominence in the story of the politicized school boards and the suits when he was superintendent and now when he spoke the truth about the ways he was denied his position when he returned from Europe….what is it in Appalachian culture that breeds these dishonest and hateful attitudes and unfortunately violent action? While the sense of place is what makes the hollers of the hills such a caring home for the people who have lived there for generations, it seems to also generate deep hatred and distrust of outsiders and the corruptions when there is not impartial justice. And when these actions and attitudes drive out good teachers who would educate the next generation, it becomes a vicious cycle. If you can’t read you are not exposed to ideas different than your own. If you don’t travel, you never experience how people different from you still face the same problems and joys of earning a living and raising a family even if their religion, the color of there skin, or their accent is different than yours. Your never experience how to live with people who have different opinions or even different religions. Without that education and life experience that only response seems to be a blackjack or a pistol or even those eggs and tomatoes Jesse hitting Jessie when he and his friend went to court two girls while they were visiting rural schools.

I loved this read. But poor Jesse. Man he takes what they dish out and gets back up. Strong man and dedicated. Can't wait for the next read.
"Shoulders as wide as a crib door" is a unique but vivid description!
Most of my family moved from Kentucky to MI during the war & stayed. Not a one moved back though some did move to Ohio.

I love this video. I thought the funniest part was the students waking the snorers up. I had to laugh. ❤ I dread the last reading of my favorite book.
Here in WV they callrd going north "Followin the Hillbilly Highway"😢
“Each life was the Kingdom of God within you.” When you read that, I said “Amen”. Such a beautiful quote from Jesse Stuart. Thank you for your readings, Tipper. Happy Thanksgiving!

The rain sounds like sizzling bacon. 😂
Hi homeschool and for English, I used Winston grammar.
Thank you for watching!
I'm with you, Tipper; Enoch even caused Jesse to permanently loose hearing in one ear❗️
🧡🧡🧡

The loss of hearing in Jesse'ear, The fine, $200.00 , did not meet what Jesse lost.
