I'm a bricklayer the last 25 years if this was the best brickwork or pointing up ever done bricklayers will always have something negative to say or the mix isn't right that's the worst about bricklayers or most negative comments on here are probably 40 year olds still living at home with their mothers and getting up at 3 or 4 in the day never done a day's work in their life 😅😅 anyone that's a bricklayer knows how physically hard it is on the body great work pal keep it up 👍👍
Im a bricklayer from NYC , Beautiful job , going to look smart when you’re all done. We used the sand pressure cleaner a few times and it has cleaned old bricks lovely. As for the few supposed line burners in the comments me and the boyz over her love to see them spin in circles when they have to actually try to do the work they say they can. Real trowels know you put the care in and that’s why you get the clients. Cheers and God bless you and the family from the Yankee trowels staying traditional too!
Your a proper gentlemen Deano love watching your work mate im a ground worker myself but watching your videos makes me wish I took up bricklaying I fell Inlove with it watching your videos I’m 33 now bit late in the tooth to take up something new . My uncle was a bricklayer though he loved it swore by it whistled every morning going to work would always have a laugh and a crack with other brickies and say they build there bricks upside down . Anyways best of luck health and happiness to you sir and your family . True craftsman you are 👊👊🏴
I was told always bed timbers on traditional lime mortar, the lime will pull any moisture out of the timber and keep it beautifully dry, cement mortar acts as a barrier keeping the moisture in, that’s why old timbers lasted so long apparently 😀
That looks fantastic Dean. So glad to see your local authorities understanding the use of traditional building methods. Up here eveyone just wants to look oldish and be concre at the back. Great work guys.
There’s a couple of beautiful pink Jersey granite lintels down the side of my gaff that I’m desperate to put in the garden, I’ve been told I can just have them, it’s a few quid worth too, but bolloxed if I can move them 😅 🤝
as always deano nice bit of work mate from tha old bricklayer 😂 doing it as it should be done mate you know the score mate . If I don't go right always remember don't get flustered stir the custard old bricklayer saying uce got loads mate😂
Lime and other historic binders have a great variety in appearance. The use of natural and localised building products give traditional buildings a great wealth of regional diversity. Something unfortunately lost now to mass-produced "4 n 1".
I'm a Scottish mech fitter,, I love listening to the education and also the laying of the brick 🧱....all the trades made Britain great..keep it up brother

The timber can breath on the face though? How would the moisture stay in?
