So...it says horizontal stripe, because I always think of these in terms of alpha patterns, and how it sits on your wrist...but as I was uploading it I thought I suppose if you think of it in terms of how it looks while you make it, this is NOT a horizontal stripe. Sorry. Deal with it. :p
How do make a long, horizontal stripe friendship bracelet. I saw something like this all over pinterest, and loved it. If you haven't done friendship bracelets before, I recommend you learn how to do the 4 types of knots:

the string that is for the middle stripe needs to be much longer than the side strings. i just made it and ran out of the middle string before the others. just fyi. the design is really cool.
Vika Shaulskaya i had to tie ends to my middle strings in order to make it work.
She said the 4 ends had to be the same length and the middle looked longer in the video
@@ellaakerman1549 she said the lighter color strands she made them 65 inch long and the other four the same lenght. but not the same lenght as the ligher ones. when she makes that knot in the begining of the video you can see the lighet one is longer.
Guys.. 60 - 65 inches is 152 - 165 cm.
1 inch is 2.54 in cm.

I really like how this friendship bracelet is different than the basic chevron bracelet. It has a really unique and polished look :) thanks for the tutorial :D
Mine turned out great, but had slightly loose knots, which made small spaces in it. I actually like how it looks, it's not super spaced out (like my first chevron lol) but the knots aren't tight together, and I think it looks nice. Great tutorial!!!!
I’ve found soaking the bracelet in either hot or ice water tightens up the knots. Or you could use starch for loose feeling bracelets...
you should probably show your hand while doing it...cause beginners will probably have a hard time understanding this.☺

Beginners probably wouldn't make this bracelet it would be to hard for them

@@ajburbank1221 it would literally make the video a lot easier to follow regardless. It isn’t that hard to touch up on what a forward or backward knot is.

The first time i tried this bracelet I failed but when i tried it a second time it worked out for me! You really are a great teacher! I only had to watch the vid twice and then i became a master at it!

does your bracelet turn out to be hard ? or do you make the knots loose ?
Any idea how to do three separate colors? I'd like to make it striped like a flag. So for example, a long stripe of green, a long of yellow and a long of red. If I follow your pattern, would my middle stripe be skinnier than the outside stripes because it is only 2 strands versus the outer ones being 4 strands each? I'd love your thoughts or even a tutorial on how to make this style. Thank you for the great tutorials!

What is the pattern number for this on friendship-bracelet.net?
I wanna make a wide horizontal striped bracelet with a name in the center. So for 3 colors, I used 5 strings each.
Can I follow this pattern for a 15-string bracelet? Can you please show how to make a name on the center color using 5 strings instead of 10 as the alphabet pattern shows?

You might be either pulling them too tight when you do the knot or not tight enough!? I'm not sure just my guess! Don't think there is a way to get rid of them on the bracelet you've already made! But maybe try not pulling so tight or pulling tighter if you decide to make another one!

the middle won't stay tight! lol it still looks good but i can't get the middle to stay tight for some reason no matter how tight i make the knot

What if I have like, 6 colors? How many strings should I take for each for the width of the color sections to be even?
I tried this last night with 6 different colours. Follow the same steps as Kat shows and it will work. Actually, with all those colours I find it's easier to see what you're doing because you will see the pattern form. :)
Sorry, I recounted my colours and I only have 5 but it should work with 6 (I think).

The length for the four strands? you said the first should be about 60 inches but not the length for the four that are supposed to be the same length.

You can get *it* (embroidery floss) from AliExpress for super cheap...
I got 50 colors for 1.80$ and the quality is great
I ordered 6 pieces of "DMC embroidery floss" and it was a lot higher in price just to see if it's any different from the cheap ones... Still haven't arrived yet.

yeah but your strings will need to be longer, about 80 inches or so.

also i would suggest that you make the middle strand longer by 10 inches or so..on my first bracelet I ended up not having enough (all my strands for 60inches) so for my second bracelet I made my middle strand 70 inches long.

How do you make it so tight!?!?
Make sure you're pulling your knots in the correct direction, depending on the type of knot. Check out my video on the types of knots. I talk about that a little there. ;)
