I am a recovering addict....i don't care if his backpack really had been "filled with narcotics" he is still a human being who is loved and deserves to be found....no different from anyone else.
Amen!! 💯!! I get so sick of addicts, sex workers, homeless, etc. Being ignored over their addiction, profession, or circumstances! Its RIDICULOUS! They are human beings that deserve help, deserve to be found, and deserve justice! John has said it many, many, MANY times - about 2 in every 10 ppl have an alcohol or drug problem. If your not an addict, you probably know and love one! Its a huge problem here. We still need to reduce stigma regarding addiction and mental illness, but ppl are definitely more educated than they were 5 yrs ago! I can't believe we are STILL being ignored, and abandoned over these things. Smh. And for the officers that aren't working the case cause he MAY have done drugs - how the heck do you sleep at night? 🤨 Using your own personal prejudice to NOT work a case, to NOT help someone?? Smh. Id be so ashamed I'd have to quit police work.
I agree with everything you said. I'm a recovering heroin addict, I have been clean for almost 9 years now, but I still worry that if anything like this happened to me, or any addict/recovering addict, that the police would just say that we must of relapsed and ran off to mexico or whatever. Even if the scene was strange and didn't make a whole lot of seance. If they couldn't find out what happened within the first few hours it would be case closed. That is actually really scary to think about. The thought of law enforcement not even trying to find you or find out what might of happened to you is just so fucked up. And this happens all of the time. Its crazy.
Seriously!! Makes me realize that if I ever went missing, even though I've been clean for over six years that my prior drug use would probably come up in the news coverage. Messed up.
Locking his car may have just been a reflex. My sister rolled her car in a single car accident when she was about the same age. There were no drugs or alcohol involved. She was driving home in Texas very late at night . She had been awake since early that morning taking exams then had worked a full shift waiting tables. She had promised our mother she would come home that weekend. Fortunately she was quite close to home when the accident occurred. She got out of the car and walked to the house, about 3 miles. She had a concussion and was exhausted and it didn't even occur to her to look fot her phone. She thought she was o.k. but she wasn't. It's easy to make judgements when you're reading about a situation. It's completely different when you're in the moment especially at the age of this young man. This is someone's child, the most important thing is finding him and offering support to his parents
Misty Haney ( stands and applauds your text ) my hat off to you. It’s easy to have opinions when no one asked for them. This is someone’s son - until something like this happens to you or someone close to you, will you know the pain and loss of having your child die or go missing ?? Anyways I wanted to just say that you rocked on the text
Misty Haney same with my daughter, she was sitting in middle of a small Toyota truck between driver and another passenger,, no seatbelt of course.. The driver was trying to drift lost control and it flipped three four times.. Yeah she was in shock,, if u are like that u sure aren't thinking at all.. The weird thing to me is why he left phone.. That's the only thing I feel was off..... That wreck traumatized my daughter and has caused her to have constant pain.. Her head left imprint in top of that old Toyota,, back then cars were not soft..
I hope your sister healed though. And your comment was beautiful. Yes he is somebodys child that are hurting. I can't and don't want to imagine that happening to my kids or grand babies. Not knowing would absolutely kill me
As a Texas State student, I wish my university was doing more to bring this case to light. Besides our independent newspaper, the university has not said almost anything about the case. Such a shame. Once a Bobcat, always a Bobcat
So many of these similar stories when someone is involved in a car accident then seems to leave the scene and disappears. Really hope the family have answers soon.
..::JOHN::.., I HOPE YOU SEE THIS! I’ve been following you for about 5 years now. You’re incredible. You aren’t one of those youtubers that just takes and takes (ads, “sponsors”). You genuinely have a place in your heart for these families and give back EVERY TIME! I can’t wrap my head around how you don’t have a bigger following, but you know you have TRUE fans! We love you John+Team!! We need more people like you!
Bless his and his families hearts. As an ER/ICU nurse I'd deduce that he could have suffered from a Coup Contrecoup injury. This injury can occur without significant impact. Its a acceleration and deceleration force injury inside the skull. This injury is very serious and could occur without evidence of much physical injury at the scene. I pray as always that he is ok until we know he isnt. Thank you so much for what you and your team do.❤
Also an ER nurse at a busy LA hospital. These are some of the most detrimental head injuries I’ve treated. One pt came in with no contusion or swelling on the outside.
@Leah Meyer Absolutely...and the distance that he walked. I've seen patients come in the ER as much as two days later with a hidden head injury. They thought they were uninjured.❤
@@thatcat0076 it really depends on where the injuries occur in the brain and to what degree. With head on collisions you could see..(front of brain)confusion, aggitation, memory loss ,and impulsivity. If the back end of the car struck the tree first (side brain)you could experience loss of direction and poor hand-eye coordination. (Back of brain) is our sight so any aspect of this could even cause us not to be able to perceive what we see. Its a devastating injury because you've injured at least two areas of the brain...❤ this is to simplify it a bit
I am SO glad to see this case showing up around RUclips! My son just graduated from TXST in August, and we never seem any real coverage for Jason. I drive that same route, as does my son, to come and go...we live just south of Landry family (this could have easily been my child). It angers me, that the one article that I did see, made it a point to bring the weed to the forefront. My son is a lot like Jason, great kid and comes from a good family, and in my sons first year at that college, he was exposed to drugs and freedom, he went through that phase, like most do.... THIS does not define our children and regardless, he is important and needs to be found! My son would leave there to come home late at night or early morning due to I10 traffic, I was always worried about that highway....I would have never imagined something like this happening to my child. I pray for that poor family everyday and hope they get closure. 💔
Thanks John, this is LulingResident6. I've never posted on a website like websleuths before, but this was so close to home, I thought people might benefit from a local weighing in. You seemed to have pretty much covered everything in your video...this is just a complete mystery and I hope for his family's sake this is figured out. I am a dad and I cannot imagine having something like this happen to my child. We are praying for the Landry family and hope that by some miracle Jason is found alive.
What I appreciate about this channel (myself being a true crime, criminal justice/psychology and general 'who done it?' You Tube junkie...) is that I can binge-listen or watch day or night all I want, there's never any loud, obnoxious, intro/outro or a ton of confusing stock photos edited in, or unnecessary and annoying background music or incessant current hot-topic clickbaiting, your narrative is not delivered like a circus ringmaster and the content is fantastic, compassionate and well-researched. You Tube is getting on my last nerve, even in this genre .. it's gone too 'Jerry Springer'. So .... just, THANK YOU!!
Best coverage of this case I have come accross. Your attention to every detail and compassion for the family is enlightening and well respected. I do hope they find Jason soon before the 1 year anniversary. Never give up searching, he is still out there somewhere. This case is baffling and needs more coverage.
I wouldn't be surprised if he had a head injury. A friend of mine swerved to avoid hitting a turkey and ended up in a ditch. She was so disoriented that she didn't recognize her own car and thought she'd stolen it. She didn't think to grab any of her belongings and walked to the nearest house to "turn herself in". It's wild what a seemingly minor accident can do to someone's mental state.
In the 90’s, I lived in a rural area and a local kid disappeared almost the exact same way. It was winter time. Someone found his car wrecked off the road. Search parties went out and “combed” the area, woods and all, and never found him. Hunters stumbled upon him in the spring. He was about a mile out in the woods, in an area covered by two different search groups. He sustained head injuries, was disoriented and probably not thinking straight, went into the woods and got lost. He sat with his back against a tree and died.
Thank you John for giving this heartbreaking case some air time. You definitely continue to prove your commitment to the cause for the lost, the forgotten and the unexplained. Thanks again. And regardless what may be in the future with you and your RUclips channels all your knowledge, your help and your heart felt comments to family and friends of the beloved victims will never go unnoticed or be forgotten. 🙏
I own ten acres about 6 or 7 miles from the wreck. It can get a little sketchy out there sometimes. We have a cabin on our property and were hosting a camp-out for a group of friends (this was well before covid), and one of our guests found himself a little turned around on the gravel roads. He pulled into what he thought was a dead end road, but the moment he pulled in, two trucks came in from behind and blocked him from being able to leave. They opened their truck doors and let their dogs out first, then stepped out in full camo gear and rifles. He rolled down his window to tell them he was lost (thankfully he knew the name of our road and how to describe it as he'd been there a few times). They told him they'd just returned from hunting (a possibility, but the timing was... questionable) and allowed him leave. We're pretty sure he stumbled into the front driveway of something sketchy. The guys were seemingly guarding the front drive. Luling is close enough to Seguin, a well known drug cartel area, that I wouldn't be surprised if Jason found himself in the wrong place at the wrong time. In 2020, two teenagers driving an ATV in rural Luling were shot and killed by a man who said he thought they were aliens trying to kill him. Lots of meth out there.
a bloody good point. actually chilling. apart from the state of the car, the theories of him being lost. his car was rear-ended if u ask me. smashed the back end and shoved the from left side of the car to be forced into the ground (car was stationary with parking brake on).
I would like to hear from his friends at college as to what might have been going on with him there. Different friends? It's such a mystery. So sorry for the family. Where is this young man?
Exactly what I was thinking. Hearing from his friends about what state of mind he may have been in, and what he was doing just before that, might be important.
I believe i read on a facebook page that they said he was sleeping a lot and seemed to be a bit depressed, AND his parents were not aware of this until now. That makes sense to me as a college student myself my roommates can attest to my behavior better than family since they see me everyday unlike my family.
John, last night I was in a Crawlspace Getvokl chat session watching T & L speak to Jason Watts. Jason is such a great guy; He was on the show bringing awareness to the Crawlspace audience about the Jason Landry case (one I had never heard of)- I was thrilled to hear that you and Jason were having conversations regarding this case. This morning, I made it a point to listen to your episode of Jason Landry as I got ready for work. As I'm listening to you tell us Jason's story, and the bizarre facts of his disappearance, it dawned on me why I respect you and your work so much. Granted I've been a fan/supporter of yours for years now, but I think this morning I was finally able to articulate why in my head. The reason I am such a supporter of you and the Brainscratch community is because you have such drive for responsible journalism, sharing facts, and weeding out assumption and innuendo; you are excellent at bringing clarity to the facts, and identifying to your audience the misperceptions and innuendos that sometimes cloud the story. Your integrity and upstanding qualities as a human being and voice for the missing are unmatched. I have followed your work long enough to know that you are humbled by praise and acknowledgement, and though I know your goal is is to solely bring awareness of these cases to the public, you also inspire me and tons of people around the world to stand with conviction in sharing truth, walking with integrity, and to have compassion for others. Thank you for your amazing work over the years, and we are all lucky to have you in this world, a person that truly makes a difference. I once said in a Getvokl chat with the guys that you are the P. Diddy of true crime, and I stand by that lol. Never lose sight of how much of a positive impact you make in this world.
I truly believe that has to be one of the best comments I have ever read about John. Thank you so much for the complements and your support of John's channel. Btw, I am one of John's Community Managers.
This means a lot to me Brock. Thank you so much for taking the time and energy to send us this message, and for giving all of us here at LordanArts a nice boost. We appreciate you!
Drugs in his bag is inconsequential. The focus needs to be on Jason. I hope and pray that the family gets some answers, and I am glad that you are covering this case, and I hope Jason's father reaches out to you.
oh shit, I live 40 miles from Luling, drive thru all the time and hadnt heard of this! crazy... not surprised though the local news here is abhorrent... oh damn, I drove down that exact same road the day before he went missing and then 3 days after and I still havent heard of this case. A LOT OF PEOPLE take that turn wrong. I should go film myself driving it to give ppl a better understanding, its extremely easy to forget to turn there. the signage is awful and nonexistent after hurricane Harvey all the signs got knocked down and they never put them back on. ALSO, there's little cell service there, that entire area is a blip of no service... I think the dads right, there hasn't been any coverage here. My hometown is Sweetwater Texas, the Hailey Dunn case is the perfect example as to how small town Texas police depts bungle cases out of pride. they refuse to hand it over to the Rangers because of their egos. its infuriating. Haleys dad is one of my bfs best friends and it just kills me when I see him. he's im so much damn pain... poor Lawson came upon the cops doing a drug drop and will never be found unfortunately. that case is so apparent to the people living here. like we all know how corrupt the law enforcement is in Bronte... regardless, like I said, small town law enforcement has a very big problem handing cases off to the pros. 9 xs out of 10 theyll refuse for months, finally give in and then the Rangers have no chance in saving the case.
Morning, John. This is a terrible set of events that this young man went through. My fear would be head injury, total disorientation, and experienced a fatal event. His family must be devastated. I hope they get answers soon. Texans are praying for you all. Any, why is it assumed that every young man is involved in drugs?? Is it a prescription? And there are times drugs don't matter to the facts of the case. Okay, off my soapbox...
@@jtarantula3390 It’s possible that he fell into the lake, but didn’t drown in it. After being wet it would be harder for the dogs to track his scent, especially if he swam a bit before climbing out.
Being the survivor of a head-on impaired driving collision (Driver of other vehicle was impaired), on a highway, I can share from my experience that shock can do extremely odd things to ones mind. Our vehicle was flipped on its roof from the impact, and even with an open fracture of the leg, in my head I knew I needed to get help, and somehow crawled out of the broken passenger window onto the ground. They found me behind our vehicle, I grew up and have lived all my life here, and yet had no idea where I was (Had been down that highway literally hundreds of times) so it is easy to see if Jason had shock, which he more than likely would have, and possibly a concussion or some other brain injury, he could have wandered further out, maybe into a different body of water. As far as Jason's possessions being so far away from the vehicle, family members went out to collect what they could of ours, my then fiance now husband was driving our vehicle, and they were hundreds of meters in all directions. A metal toolbox my husband had for work, was hurled like a Lego block down the highway, so yes possessions could well have been found a distance from the car. For the media to make like he is Pablo Escobar with the backpack, is unconscionable!
I'm really sorry that you went through that. Thank you for sharing your experience, especially your insights regarding how far possessions can Travel. That's really
@@lindasue8719 Thank You so much for your kindness Linda Sue! Our collison was a number of years ago, over 37 now, I was only 18 at the time and my fiance now husband was 21. Some days it seems like that many years, some like yesterday. I do not mind sharing my perspective, sometimes it helps to have the input of those that have possibly been in similar situations. We now have a 21 yr old son, so my heart goes out to Jason's family, I truly hope they are able to find answers to all their questions, and he is brought home soon.
@@firstmedtech The vehicle needn't roll for passengers to obtain a concussion or TBI. It is actually quite amazing how little external damage to an incident, can result in physical issues. Ever been in a fender bender? I have a friend that got hit in one several years ago, the damage to the vehicles was minimum, she still deals with neck issues and headaches.
Thank you so much for covering this case, John. This one just touched me, perhaps because of the years I drove a boring 8 hour stretch of highway going to and from college. It frightens me that he did not seem to have a light source with him (phone) and that he could have fallen into an uncapped well, or other hazard in the dark. My prayers are with his family and I hope that they receive an answer in the near future.
I'm not from US, so I was wandering: those "narcotics" in the report could be just prescribed medication? I always keep my meds with my toiletries, it wouldn't be odd for me. Anyway, sensetionalized articles like that just infuriate me, they could really ruin the coverage of the case and the chances for it to be solved sooner. Thanks John for covering this case. Praying for Jason and his family ❤️🙏🏻
I wonder the same. As someone who has prescribed narcotics for chronic pain it infuriates me that just the mention of the word could complete throw off well intentioned people. I would be incredibly frustrated if something were to happen to me and that is what media chose to focus on. I feel a similar way with things like depression and sex work get mentioned. These things are a part of a lot of peoples lives. Yes, they play a role but there's so much more to every case. So important not to lose the scope and scale of something like this. I hope the family can get some answers soon.
@@MakeupJunkie0000 Totally agree! It's so sad to see cases of people with mental issues, drug addictions, or sex workers, being taken less seriously just because the media decided to define those people by their illness, their habits or their job :(
@@LiquidShivaz Tbh, It was the first thing I thought from the start of the video, but I really hope that something less dark happened. There's a chance this could "just" be a freak car accident... I hope they find him soon! 😔
Good afternoon, John. I first want to say thank you so much for sharing your investigative journalism with us! These cases are so much more than just entertainment, and I feel that you are one of the few that treat them as such.
Sounds like a possible amnesia situation. He could’ve started walking and everything went blank for him. It take months or even years before someone gains their memory back so he could be out there and just doesn’t know who he is. It’s really sad I hope he’s found alive
But a sudden shift in brain chemistry would need to be an injury, like deprivation of oxygen or a stroke? Other symptoms besides loosing all memory should be present, like him unable to eat or walk maybe too
@@slwtgf I’m not a doctor, but could’ve been the result of a concussion maybe? I have heard of people suffering from amnesia from accidents like this but not experiencing other symptoms like the inability to walk, eat, or talk. It’s not necessarily the most common scenario, but also not impossible.
@@pocketlinttreasures33 it happened. I don’t remember the exact case but a guy went missing and like he was discovered 20+ years later in a different state living his life as normal. Also, I doubt we will ever know how many people it happens to because if you have amnesia you won’t know you’re missing
@@Lostinmyhead23It is called "psychogenic amnesia", it's generally formed after some type of psychological trauma is experienced. I know of that case as well, there's also a woman who went into her Dr. office and came out and forgot everything! She's elderly now living in a nursing home and finally was found not too long ago.. It happened to the famous writer Agatha Christie after a car accident (she was famous so they found her after 11 days, and that's a fairly long time...). There is also a man I recently read about from Canada who had disappeared for 36 years after having amnesia, he was 21 years old when he disappeared just like this guy is so it's quite possible. If anyone wants the guy's name I'm sure I could find it as I read it very recently!
Thanks for sharing your video. I've been checking regularly for updates since a friend shared an article about Jason the first week he went missing. Having recently graduated college (with plenty of late-night car trips home under my belt), I've been intrigued as to what may have happened to Jason on his way home that night. Several theories pop into my head at each point in the timeline... I hope the truth is uncovered soon, and of course, praying Jason is out there, somewhere, still alive.
I just read an article that said his phone was found between the seat and the center console...sounds like that dark spot of hell in the car where if you drop your phone in it, you're SOL. His poor, poor dad. I cannot even begin to imagine. This is your absolute worst nightmare.
Thank you for covering this case, John and my sincere condolences to Jason’s family. Kent, if you ever see this, know that you’re doing a great job representing the family and speaking for Jason to try and bring him home; keep the faith. Of course, there are dozens of theories of what could’ve happened but as you John said, we need to focus on the facts we do have and they all point to a concussion where Jason wandered from the scene of the accident and was not thinking straight (not calling for help and leaving his phone and backpack are clear signs of that IMHO). From there, sadly, given the projection of his steps that the dogs traced towards the water, it is most likely he died of drowning or exposure or and is yet to be found in this difficult terrain. I’m always surprised at how quickly people jump to “he’s not there, the areas has been searched” - we’ve all heard of cases where people have been found deceased in areas that were searched multiple times, previously. But it’s not out of the realm of possibility that he is alive and perhaps has amnesia; it seems outlandish at first blush but it happens. Whatever the circumstances, I pray that Jason is found soon and brought home to his loving family who clearly miss him very much and need answers.🕊
I really like how you report and present the information. I feel like you truly want to help the families and communities that are missing their loves ones.
He didn't spin. The road would have skid marks, and the side of the road would have been torn up. I can't see the car hitting that tree trunk first, spinning 180 on the spot, then the front of the car smashes into it. The front of Mr Landry's car impacted the tree, because he was hit in the trunk. By force or by accident. He went into a fishtail. I'm surprised the cops didn't pick this up, since it's a maneuver law enforcement and the military uses to stop fleeing suspects. Bounty Hunters and vigilantes (like me) also uses it. Road rage or a simple accident are possibilities too. As for the pond, he's either at the bottom or he ran through the shallow edge. He could have been fleeing from the driver of the other vehicle. I would suggest searching within a 10 mile radius around that pond. If they don't find Mr Landry, he was probably taken.
I agree something just doesn’t add up here. The impact to the back looks worse than the impact to the front/side. I think he was intentionally hit on the back end. Any chance the police are not saying something here?? I don’t know about LE in this area, but it has been seen before - that family doesn’t get the whole story until someone comes forward anonymously. Any possibility of that here in your opinion? I certainly hope he is found alive and just concussed/disorientated. But the fact that 3 dogs led to the waters edge bothers me. Either way the family needs to bring their son home. 💜
@@wordsleuth992 Law enforcement agencies always hold back info. I haven't seen/been on a case where they haven't. The media isn't helping either, with their mock-up report and running off with their own opinions. The damage to the front of his car is pretty significate, when compared to the back left of his trunk. Your trunk doesn't blow out with you hit a pole/tree, so his car was hit before or after the accident.
@@gazXspace The side doors and the roof are intact. Which is why I believe he was hit from behind and forced into the tree, or was hit from behind after experiencing car trouble.
So happy you’re talking about this case! I just covered it on my channel and I’m not sure what to think. The fact he hasn’t been found yet it’s a bad sign in my opinion :( praying for answers for his family!
Mr. Lordan, Do you know if authorities have pulled cellular data from the area? They can determine if any other cell phones were in the area around the time of the wreck.
As a person who has been in a major car accident, we were hit almost head on, the air bag deploys very violently it caused chemical burns on me, caused me to hit my head on the driver's side window and busted my lip wide open it left me pretty dazed and confused they siad I kept screaming am I dead. I hope he is found safe and reunited with his family. God bless you and your family keep the spotlight shining.
is where this happened the sort of place where someone could have hit his car while he was parked up, and they cleaned up the scene and then removed jason and concealed what happened? or are people around there quite a bit of traffic, people around there would notice someone's damaged car etc?
They need to call those volunteers that search dive team and search for cars under water. They've found so many missing people , even ones missing decades!!!
My first thought on this is a road rage incident. Tried to get away from someone, got off the highway, was hit from behind and hit a tree. They could have taken him. This makes the most sense to me.
As a native Texan who’s very familiar with dark back roads and deer running out in front of you (especially in December, deer season), I feel like that’s what possibly happened. I also am just outside of Houston (as he was), and you’re absolutely correct-the media coverage on this case has died down to an almost halt! That’s just devastating. I can’t stop thinking about this tragic case and his poor family. 😢
My SatNav almost sent me over the edge of a big hill. The road I wanted was on the other side of the valley but unless my car could fly, I wasn't going to get there that way. I have also seen media reports of other 'GPS whoopsie moments'
Good morning Brainscratchers! John, thank you for always doing everything you can to get to the heart of these cases and keep both the facts and the humanity in each one. 💜
This is crazy I live in Austin and it’s so sad that If I was not subscribed to these channels I would have never even heard about this . Thank you john and everyone ... I drive through luling a lot to get back to my house and I had 🤷♀️ no idea about any of this ... but I at least know where to look Now if they are doing anymore searches ... thank you .. and I’m praying 🙏 he gets back home quickly ...
As far as narcotics, the Sheriff Dept already addressed it saying that wasn't true. And there was only a very minimal amount of marjuina in his car. Very small. I think he did have a head injury and possibly subcomed to the elements and just hasn't been found. It happens all the time, sadly
He got into a car accident the person that hit him took him. Either already dead or dying , then the person that hit him buried him. The person that hit him was probably dwi too
I'm watching this 3 1/2 years later after seeing other RUclips videos covering it. The news was not helpful. The police found weed in a medicine bottle in his backpack, that was it. Regardless, that makes no difference to the case. I definitely think foul play is a factor here. The cops that were there at the very beginning seemed bothered that they had to be out there that night. Once they found the weed, they didn't seem to care anymore. They literally left clothes of his behind that his dad found the next day. Why wasn't that stuff taken as evidence & tested. It seems to me, a lot of things were overlooked by the cops on the night of accident, which was the crucial time. They weren't even out there doing anything, when his dad arrived at the scene. Just a lot of strange things. One thing I did find very strange was that the firefighter guy that originally called 911. On his phone call he stated to the dispatcher that "he must be naked running around". Why would he call him HE? How did he know the person that wrecked was a he? Even seeing his clothes on the road, it was pitch black out, how could he tell the clothes belonged to a male? The whole call was odd. I've since learned that the firefighter took a polygraph test & passed it. That honestly means nothing. Those can be faked. I just wonder if there was some sort of cover up. It really appears that Jason's vehicle was hit & then he wrecked. I know it's been years but, I still pray that Jason is found. The parents deserve to know the truth of what happened to their son.
I suspect he swerved for one reason or another, had an accident, went off walking and fell some place where he just hasn’t been found yet. A well or a ditch. Really reminds me of the Brandon Swanson case, just without the phone call.
It's not a matter of whether or not he does drugs, he's missing. I hate how some people are just like "well this person is an addict, so...." The only reason that should be a factor, is in identifying persons of interest. Everyone should remember that verse "but for the grace of God, there goes I". We are all one mistake away from being in the same position. Also, just a side note, I was in a one car accident when I fell asleep driving after working a night shift, I received a concussion and instead of using my phone to call for help, apparently I got out of the car and walked to the nearest house to ask for help, and I don't remember doing that at all! Sometime, even with a mild head injury, you don't always do the logical thing.
Wow this sounds like a similar thing that happened in my town. A guy crashed his car and just disappeared. Two years later, on my family's property, his body was found by my uncle. He was searched for a lot but no one found him
HEY, I know there is an update , I will watch all of it. But when I was traveling to Austin Texas, not far from the accident. My Google Maps took me and my gf into a completely different path and onto a random scary ass dirt road. With like 3 houses within 30min of anyone. We got the fuck outta there but now this is getting me thinking why would the Navigation apps fuck up this much? This happened 2 years ago but still. Happened not far from there.
I was trying to drive to a cousins house in rural Michigan with my grandmother. She is 90 years old, and couldn't remember all the directions, so I used Google maps to help us. Google maps ended up taking us down a one lane dirt private hunting road, she thought the directions looked right, but when I started seeing signs saying "no trespassing" and "trespassers will be shot," I asked her if she was sure this was the right road, finally I turned the car around... we got stuck... Finally I managed to get the car unstuck... It was absolutely horrifying. Don't trust Google maps outside of the city....
I’ve just started this one & I’m already brain scratching. The car is severely damaged; I’ve been in 3 car accidents myself and can say that’s a bad one. I don’t know how that can happen without another car, unless high speed was a factor. In regards to Waze, I agree with the father that it could be navigation issues. I used to drive for Uber and had to quit using Waze because it was so awful, even in my large metro-city, it would send me to locations that made no sense (I should point out this was about 4 years ago though).
Dark country roads in Texas, I've seen plenty of one car accidents, deer or hogs roam the roads at night. I have seen a full size pick up demolished after hitting a hog.
@@whitneyangelie3682 That's of course also very possible. I was just surprised, cause I'd have thought, all pictures shown in the video were recent ones - to make it easier, to identify him, if he's still alive and around somewhere; maybe not remembering his own identity, due to a head-injury/brain-trauma type of situation. It's still a good idea, to include a pic with him having long hair, regardless; and I certainly didn't mean my other comment in any disrespectful way!
@@Anita-k Oh I didn’t take your comment as disrespectful at all, I was just saying that I’m pretty sure the picture of him with long hair was taken when he was younger (and a little thinner). Maybe the family put those pictures in thinking if he’s alive and walking around somewhere he might lose weight or grow out his hair etc. so they found pictures of him with a bunch of different hairstyles and weights to give us a better idea of what he could look like now, you know?
Cell phones can be used to call emergency services whether or not they have a provider. It needs to be charged though. Was the phone charged? "Thanks to the FCC, network providers must transmit an emergency call (911) regardless of whether you use their service or not. ... You can also reach 911 with a cell phone that is not associated with a provider. They searched ever accessible, reasonable, practical place and are now 60-70% certain he's not there. So now we need to check the inaccessible, unreasonable, and impractical places because whatever happened happened and maybe he unfortunately beat those very high odds and is resting in one of those places. We all know people have been found in odd places. I'm pretty certain an injury from the accident is a contributing factor here.
It does not matter if he had any drugs hes a person that is missing and could be hurt and should be searched for alot of young college people use or experiment with drugs it doesnt make them bad it upsets me that anyone would act like thats a reason not to search for him or anyone !!
Reminds me of the Gabriel Nagy case, where, thankfully, he was eventually discovered alive, albeit many years later. His accident caused a severe head injury and as a result, amnesia.
@@Christishea I think what they mean is, since the dogs they had all led to the lake, they should try starting the dogs a bit further out and see if they pick anything up in the greater area instead of just assuming since they lost his scent at the lake that his scent wouldn’t be anywhere else in the area.
I’ve lived in the PNW and have had a couple of deer fly out in front of my car and yea, they can cause considerable damage to your car. Or, just trying to avoid hitting one on an unpaved road could cause you to skid or spin-out.
Random: I had a bad accident when I was 19 and it was a 2 car accident but I always wondered why the trunk was so damaged. Years later I discovered it was because the left rear panel hit a stop sign and caused me to flip the car 3 times. His car reminds me of that.
After looking closer at the photo of the car it reminds me even more of my accident. When my car rolled it rolled left rear corner to right front corner, basically. I ended up with a fractured sternum, bruised heart and lungs and was in ICU. Head injuries cause a lot of disorientation too. I didn’t know where I was or what happened in the minutes and hours afterward. In fact it took months for my memory to come back. I fear the worst for this kid. My youngest son is 21 and it breaks my heart for his family.
Also on the keys and phone are in the car. I was in a 4 door and the drivers door was inoperable but because of my head injury I couldn’t work out that there are 3 other doors I could get out of but I was convinced I was stuck inside with no way out. The drivers door window was also broken out. So it doesn’t make sense. It’s easy to say what you would do but if you had a head injury those things go out the window. My head injury was from breaking the drivers window out with my head. Not hitting a steering wheel or anything.
UPDATE UPDATE feb 2021 his backpack had game, toiletries, ball cap, dead beta fish, SMALL AMOUNT OF WEED!! PLEASE PEOPLE, like John said when people hear fake news on social media the public just steps away from those cases..... It was not a bag full of narcotics, a little bit of weed
When I regularly took Lyft to work a couple years back I would always check to see if the driver was using Waze because it would always direct them over a bridge that ran past my work building (which was on the corner of an intersection), over its parking lot and beyond where I needed to go. That particular error has since been corrected but I do wonder if it has more less than helpful guidances in specific areas that could lead someone astray.
It’s hard for me to imagine this poor young man staggering away from this accident, probably addled, not attracting lots of attention from every person that he passed. I’d have done everything to get the poor guy to a hospital....90% of people would have done the same. That’s why I’m worried that some scumbag stopped to “help” him.... 😞
yup 🧐 very true. i think he may have been rear ended while broke down or parked without lights on and ran him over coz he was out of the car - going to bathroom or checking the engine or something...
Coming from a rural area, my first thought was that Jason, perhaps travelling a bit faster than he should have been, swerved to miss a deer, a fox, an armadillo, a dog, a cat, etc. and lost control of his car. I assume nearby hospitals (and even jails) have been checked. If it was a cold night and he was concussed, depending on how familiar he is with the countryside, he may have sought shelter in an old barn or storage building and perished (hopefully not).
I think Occam's Razor applies here- like Brandon Swanson, I think Jason Landry walked out of his car, got disoriented, and met with some tragic accident out in the terrain and his body just never got found.
Well with Brandon's case I have looked into and I would love to see a terrain map of the whole area he was at and see if there is anything maybe an underground cave that when he step gave way and sent him below I mean that is a wild one but you get the point. I am weirded out by his case due to again the time at which they get lost. Almost every case is 12-2 am which just makes that time period even creepier. Jason however I have not looked at enough to judge.
But could someone have knocked him from behind and knocked him off the road intentionally? A pit maneuver in a way. If they had a rubber bumper there wouldn’t be paint transfer
I just watched this episode of Disappeared. I am a realtor in rural Indiana and there are certain areas that if I use Waze, it doesn’t take me to the correct place. It is WAY off. After years of showing houses I know what areas Waze will be off and when I need to use google maps. I wonder if this could have been the issue with Waze?
I had an acquaintance, a young man, who went missing over a decade ago after wrecking his vehicle over a hill in a well populated area. These kind of cases are so mysterious to me. The young man I'm talking about had a narcotic element too. Hope his family gets answers soon.
I will add the damage to the car is not always an indication of how badly someone is injured. I was in a crash where the car flipped three times, completely destroyed and still managed to crawl out and walk away.
I’m from Texas and I heard a lot of the initial coverage. When the media was covering it in the beginning they made it seem like the accident was a minor fender bender. So much so that my entire family was shocked when we saw that car.
I’m from Texas and there’s ALOT of dead spots especially on country roads where no matter what service provider you don’t have cell service which makes sense as to why the last cellular data was back at the actual turn
Wow what a cool guy u are on this site ran across this site now I’m in 100 percent. You treat people with respect that’s awesome. I’m going to practice better behavior
John, I’m from this area and to get to Houston you do not need to leave the toll roads or freeways. I can’t think of a reason for him to be on that road. Unless he was meeting someone or maybe was chased. But it’s a straight shot to Houston on I10. It seems like he knew to stay on the road to get to I10. Taking 183 is the totally wrong direction. It’s just not right.
@@pinkyvdt yeah it just seems weird to veer off towards 183 when that road only runs north to south and is definitely not the way to take to Houston. Unless he got confused, but it’s easy to make a U turn to get back.
John I think what you do is terrific. This is just my comments, opinions, and what I know. I'm very familiar with San Marcos. I take 35 to the outlets in San Marcos and my daughter's worked in that area several year's. There's some big trucks that travel those roads. Deer are always a problem crossing and then the baby deer run out following the mother deer. The weather has been cold, fog, even some snow, and slick roads. Those roads are also extremely dark at night and with all that can be dangerous. My daughter worked with a volunteer firefighter who was killed driving in that area. The damage to Jason's car was severe. Maybe he was extremely disorantated. I carry two cell phones, two different service's because of spotty service on one. Also always carry my backpack with my prescription meds in it. I was in an accident last month and the damage to the back of my BIG car was tremendous. I didn't realize how badly hurt I was till the next day. It was my back and now I'm terrified of even getting in a car. My prayers for the family. I'll share this video for Jason. Thank you for all you do John.
I am a recovering addict....i don't care if his backpack really had been "filled with narcotics" he is still a human being who is loved and deserves to be found....no different from anyone else.
Exactly what the hell does it matter if had a bag of drugs or a car full. He is a person to with family that misses him.
Absolutely! We all have our own battles but we are all human beings!
Amen!!
Using your own personal prejudice to NOT work a case, to NOT help someone??
Well said, shock and concussion can easily affect people's behaviour. Adrenaline can keep you going for so long.
Not knowing would absolutely kill me
I hope she is ok god bless her
As a Texas State student, I wish my university was doing more to bring this case to light. Besides our independent newspaper, the university has not said almost anything about the case. Such a shame. Once a Bobcat, always a Bobcat
So many of these similar stories when someone is involved in a car accident then seems to leave the scene and disappears. Really hope the family have answers soon.
kidnappings, thats what these are. for what purpose well never know
Maura Murray comes to mind.
@Solitude Standing11 most likely
Brandon Lawson and Brandon Swanson come to mind. Both very similar to Jason Landry's disappearance.

..::JOHN::.., I HOPE YOU SEE THIS!
@@amandajohnson8116 Hi Amanda... your right, the hidden injuries are the worst enemies that we face. Thank you Sweet Gal for all that you do!!!❤
@Leah Meyer Absolutely...and the distance that he walked. I've seen patients come in the ER as much as two days later with a hidden head injury. They thought they were uninjured.❤
If he has this kind of injury, what type of symptoms would he have and what would happen if he wasn't treated at hospital?
so true. well put. God bless him and his family, and all those missing.
He sat with his back against a tree and died.
very sad story...
Now that makes sense
Damn! That's crazy, but sounds legit. I live in New Mexico and in many ways this still is the wild west.
this sounds correct. the car is rear-ended. he didnt just vanish off the road. if it was not foul play the dogs would have found him.
We keep seeing these pictures of the location during day time. Imagine being there in pitch black , given there are no lights there
a bloody good point. actually chilling.
apart from the state of the car, the theories of him being lost. his car was rear-ended if u ask me. smashed the back end and shoved the from left side of the car to be forced into the ground (car was stationary with parking brake on).
Some really interesting local knowledge there, thank you for the insight!

What’s your opinion on his scent disappearing?

This car didn’t roll though.
Exactly.

That situation is so rare though. When's the last time u heard about a missing person who was out living their life somewhere else with amnesia?

Thanks John for the cases you cover, your a credit to humanity. Respect from the United Kingdom.
🙏
Good morning John. So happy to see this upload, I keep searching his name and no new information.
Thank you for this sincere report!
Ooooh an hour long searchlight! Those are always good ones. Thanks John. Praying for Jason's family.
So happy you covered this, I hike there all of the time and it’s so perplexing.
The backend looks wrecked but the damage is not consistent with a rear impact - maybe a roll but it doesn't look like that either.
there's no evidence of fishtailing or spinning, the tracks lead strait off the road....
Meaningful, logical, and heartfelt coverage... great work (as always)!
So happy you’re talking about this case! I just covered it on my channel and I’m not sure what to think. The fact he hasn’t been found yet it’s a bad sign in my opinion :( praying for answers for his family!
Mr. Lordan,
Do you know if authorities have pulled cellular data from the area? They can determine if any other cell phones were in the area around the time of the wreck.
Very good idea 👍🏻
I live in Texas. I've been following this story. Praying.
I've recently began listening to ur channel & its becoming one of my fave crime channels. EXCELLENT JOB
Hi I went to this college and my family lives in Houston (same route) it’s very hard to get lost in lulling
is where this happened the sort of place where someone could have hit his car while he was parked up, and they cleaned up the scene and then removed jason and concealed what happened? or are people around there quite a bit of traffic, people around there would notice someone's damaged car etc?
They need to call those volunteers that search dive team and search for cars under water. They've found so many missing people , even ones missing decades!!!
My first thought on this is a road rage incident. Tried to get away from someone, got off the highway, was hit from behind and hit a tree. They could have taken him. This makes the most sense to me.
That's my train of thought too, makes the most sense to me x
I live near that location and they called the search off so soon. I thought that was odd and scary, I hope his family gets answers
The person that hit him was probably dwi too
It’s certainly an angle that warrants serious time n investigation
Thats what I think too
I'm watching this 3 1/2 years later after seeing other RUclips videos covering it.
Keeping him & his family in our prayers.
Thanks John and team.🙏💔
I suspect he swerved for one reason or another, had an accident, went off walking and fell some place where he just hasn’t been found yet. A well or a ditch. Really reminds me of the Brandon Swanson case, just without the phone call.
Or Brandon Lawson.
LOVE ❤️ your long videos, the depth, and the compassion you put in them....
I found you through Danelle.
Thank you 😊
It's not a matter of whether or not he does drugs, he's missing.
He was searched for a lot but no one found him
Love watching your channel - you always do such thorough coverage
Thanks John ✌
@@Cedric_Harris sheeeesh yeah wtf
He looks like a different person in every photo.
IKR?!
I noticed that as well, very interesting. Hey looks so much younger with longer hair.
@@Anita-k Probably because he *was* younger when he had longer hair lol. It seems like an older photo (and he was a bit thinner then too).
@@whitneyangelie3682
That's of course also very possible.
This means an old phone can be a great emergency device, especially if youre unable to reach your primary phone.May 27, 2015"and
I had no idea of that, I wonder how many people even know that :o
whether he knew that or not, he may not have been totally "with it" after the accident and may not have thought to call.
@@nowasiwassaying...1699 true
His phone was still in the car lodges between or under the seat
Great in depth cover, I hope you will be able to do a follow up soon.
👍👍
Have the uncapped wells been checked? Pretty sure they have but haven’t heard it. My heart breaks for his family😢
Reminds me of the Gabriel Nagy case, where, thankfully, he was eventually discovered alive, albeit many years later. His accident caused a severe head injury and as a result, amnesia.
Sounds like a head injury to me, people get up and wander and sometimes scream, internal injuries... the locked doors could be because of the crash
Maybe he walked off looking for help, and he was more injured than he thought. They need to look at a 5 -10 mile radius with dogs.
They did...
@@Christishea I think what they mean is, since the dogs they had all led to the lake, they should try starting the dogs a bit further out and see if they pick anything up in the greater area instead of just assuming since they lost his scent at the lake that his scent wouldn’t be anywhere else in the area.
John you are awesome. I really enjoy watching you.
I’ve lived in the PNW and have had a couple of deer fly out in front of my car and yea, they can cause considerable damage to your car. Or, just trying to avoid hitting one on an unpaved road could cause you to skid or spin-out.
I hit a deer and it did extensive front end damage to my car. I live in WA state and sometimes it feels like we have more deer than ppl!
Here from Danielle’s channel !!! I SUBBED 💯❤️ binge session starts now lol. Also, do you cover wrongful convictions? Or just missing persons???
Searchlight is missing person's, Brainscratch is unsolved mysteries and Case Cracked is solved (where we do occasionally cover wrongful convictions).
just found your content. i love the way you tell true crime 🙏
He probably had a concussion after the accident and wandered away. Very sad story.
Jason however I have not looked at enough to judge.
how do you account for the car looking like its been rear-ended by another vehicle and the accident site looks like almost nothing happened?
But could someone have knocked him from behind and knocked him off the road intentionally? A pit maneuver in a way. If they had a rubber bumper there wouldn’t be paint transfer
I was wondering the same. You dont need to make contact to run someone off the road so that's a real possibility.
Thanks John!
I wrote my comment 5 minutes into this, and I agree 100% of what you said!! Thank You!!
Interal injuries could also be at play. Still looks like he would have been found. Prayers for him an his family
Sounds like a traumatic head injury and all the complications that come with that...including some type of amnesia....he could be anywhere...
I had an acquaintance, a young man, who went missing over a decade ago after wrecking his vehicle over a hill in a well populated area. These kind of cases are so mysterious to me. The young man I'm talking about had a narcotic element too. Hope his family gets answers soon.
The case I mentioned happened in Knott Kentucky right across the road from the busiest gas station in the county.
I will add the damage to the car is not always an indication of how badly someone is injured. I was in a crash where the car flipped three times, completely destroyed and still managed to crawl out and walk away.
DUI Rache
Yeah no I was a passenger
and it was a deer crash
I’m from Texas and I heard a lot of the initial coverage. When the media was covering it in the beginning they made it seem like the accident was a minor fender bender. So much so that my entire family was shocked when we saw that car.
I’m from Texas and there’s ALOT of dead spots especially on country roads where no matter what service provider you don’t have cell service which makes sense as to why the last cellular data was back at the actual turn
I could honestly care less if someone is/was on drugs. They are missing. He was in an accident. He needs to be found. It’s as simple as that.
Wow what a cool guy u are on this site ran across this site now I’m in 100 percent. You treat people with respect that’s awesome. I’m going to practice better behavior
What if someone purposely forced him off the road? Having no evidence to suggest this doesnt mean it couldnt have happened.
Yes that's what I was thinking so I kinda relistened and I think they are saying he was trying to get on the 10 right there?
@@pinkyvdt yeah it just seems weird to veer off towards 183 when that road only runs north to south and is definitely not the way to take to Houston. Unless he got confused, but it’s easy to make a U turn to get back.
Great job John, I’m wondering if he was walking along the side of a road and someone struck him because they did not see him.
Wasn’t that a dirt road? He probably wasn’t going that fast. I have such a strange feeling about this case
