When I troll my local river all I get is giant females, fun to fight, as strong as salmon when they reach 30+ but horrible to cut up lol made the mistake once in my life with just a 28 inch one. Smallest one this year trolling has been 25.5, the largest popped off at the boat while I was waiting for a rude boater's wake to pass. I run my river in a dinghy lol so when guys blast past me I get tossed and half the time have to reposition my boat to take the wake head on to keep from taking on water. I would have released her anyways but she was huge, would have loved to touch and measure her up. I would say 32 and I'm usually conservative and short on my estimates lol

I wish these tactics worked here in Colorado. For whatever reason, lures dont really cut it here. Sure you can catch some but we always revert back to finesse bait fishing (which I'm not a huge fan of). I fish a lot and have all the new stuff and try all the tactics. Usually I locate them, throw down a worm on a jig and they smash it. Then I'll try the kitchen sink and nothing. Go back to worm and jig and it's on again. Flicker shads seem to work the best but doesn't compare to the old jig and worm. Shadow raps are a good 3rd choice. We also have Pike that are lazy and not aggressive at all. I go up to North Dakota and it's a different deal altogether. Spoons barely catch anything here. So strange.
