• Lou Reed interview 199...
Lou used the word “protector“ to describe Andy shielding the band from outside influence.
About 20 years ago there was a song called "All Tomorrow's Parties" playing on the Muzak radio system we had tor the restaurant I was bartending at. Both my coworker and I didn't know who the artist was but guessed it was a Goth band from about 1990. We were both shocked to learn it was The VU and that we were off on the timeline by 23 years. Talk about "ahead of their time"!
Great interview
wow. nice to see lou speaking so candidly.
I will listen his voice for hours...
Lou was angry Valerie Solanas was only sentenced to 3 years. He said in an interview with John Wilcock "Andy's gone through the most incredible suffering, they let her off with 3 years. You get more for stealing a car".
He thought that lisening to his own record in a bar
3 years was pretty damn lenient.
I bet you if Lou saw Valerie on the street one of them would face off with each other and only one of them would walk out of that confrontation alive
“I believe life's serious enough for retribution
I believe being sick is no excuse and -
I believe I would've pulled the switch on her myself…”
The usual gender disparity in sentencing. Had she been a man it would’ve been twice that. And Reed was right about the suffering, the gunshot wounds caused Warhol immense pain for the remainder of his life. He had to wear a corset to prevent his intestines from poking out through the damage to his abdominal muscles, and the surgery he required years later due to liver damage from one of her bullets led to his death.
what a deep voice
“I was delighted. “
Fascinating!
👍♥️🐸
"you cant pay me to listen to this shit" 😂
That first record would not have been able to get made without Andy
False Advertisizing: Lou raves about about ONLY ANDY the ENTIRE time, and slightly mentions micro-smidgeon at the end of Valeria.
This is not true after the shooting he became a complete coward very inclusive and would jump at any loud sounds
he was a producer. 🥲 "He was great at making things happen."
