I love how selfless the 3 leads (and the people who care for them) are vs. the selfish parents and villain who all want to force them into terrible fates. Victor and Emily go from being another awkward arrangement to them choosing what they think will lead to the other's happiness. Having multiple people to root for is really fun. =)

Fact: this movie is based on a Jewish tale, according to which, a groom accidentally dropped his ring whole reciting the vows, and it landed... yes, on the corpse's finger, and it came back to life. Horrified, the groom asked a rabbi for help, and he cancelled the "marriage" by saying that the dead can lay no claim to the living (as a result, the corpse fell apart). (sigh) Man, old tales are pretty dark, if you think about it

"Frankly, my dear, I don't give a damn" is a reference to Gone With the Wind, where iirc it carries a very different meaning. But the music that swells after this line is from there xD

Fun fact: there was a song that was cut out of the movie that would have explained why Victor changed his mind

Honestly, my own Halloween (the first since I moved in my own appartement) was really bad because in France, there's less and less people who celebrate it 😞.
The difference of color is probably because the deads are now free of all the responsabilities they had when they were alive.
When I looked Emily, the first time I saw the movie, I felt she wasn't dead since a long time according to the fact she still have a lot of skin on her body.
About " Coraline " it's a black tale (I read the book) but Tim Burton isn't behind it, it's Henry Selick who produced also " The nightmare before Christmas " and " James and the giant peach ".
You spoke about the music, and the man who composed it is Danny Elfman who did the music of a lot of Tim Burton's movies.
I recommand you, the movie " The Chorists " it's a french movie but if you saw the movie " Dead Poets Society " with Robin Williams, it's kind of same vibes
