And yet, it is incredibly rare in the wild to even see ONE being played. I will never forget the one time I got stomped by one. Dude made a 60/60 Krasis and I, unfortunately, did NOT draw my Claim the Firstborn.
That is the fun factor of this card. It's really expensive and easy to remove, legendary would bury it entirely. What boggles me is a shitty Arena client that can't handle anything.
3:18 In this turn if you put the fabled passage, do cultivate, and then turn the passage, u could do midnight clock either.(apologize by my english. Im actually brazilian) nice deck and video BTW!
I stumbled on a similar hilarious thing when I copied my opponents scute swarm with my protean thaumaturge, then a few turns later dropped my own nyxbloom ancient and transformed all my protean scute swarms into nyxblooms. Opponent scooped before I could have any fun ☹️.... Been chasing that high ever since.
3:40 Interestingly there was a way to play Cultivate and Midnight Clock back to back, so first play Fabled Passage, get the Cobra trigger, play Cultivate, get that trigger again, NOW sac Fabled for a land, which will be untapped since it's be the 4th land on the field, then the cobra trigger puts you at 3 for the clock
best outro I’ve seen from you👍.. fun deck! True though it’s so frustrating for jank players when the game breaks, esp. if they don’t fix it.... in that way it’s different from paper magic
Currently playing this with Leyline Tyrant and the world tree + chromatic lantern, sacrificing the tyrant to either saga in order to absolutely nuke the opponent with thousands of red mana Thanks for the glorious jank, MBM
This could work with Calamity Bearer as well. Make a ton of Calamity Bearers, they each double the damage from giants. You will have like 10 of them, so it should add up to 2 to the power of 10, which is times 1024. Then cast Basalt Ravager, which deals in this case 11 dmg. Times 1024 equals 11 264 damage to any target.
And here I was thinking that using a Mystic Reflection on a Phylath itself would be such an amazing thing. A gazillion of new Phylaths making several gazillions of plant tokens.
There's a similar way to do this with even better potential by using ghoulcaller gisa. It's a 3 and 2 black 3/4 that lets you pay one black and tap it to sacrifice a creature and create a number of 2/2 tokens equal to the sacrificed creature's power. Using hydra's growth is a great way to get super powerful creatures easily then just sacrifice them and use mystic reflection to get upwards of 50 tokens in one trigger.
Mystic reflection + phylath combo in an elemental tribal deck, hitting risen reef, though you'd probably have to play a deck with well over 60 cards or you're gonna deck out way too fast, but the ramp would be incredible, 10 lands to do the full combo in a turn, 10 risen reefs each risen reef draws 10 cards (putting any lands on the field) draw 100 cards.
From all the cards that are a problem in Arena... that Grotag Bug-Catcher was one of the most obscure and random that could had being chosen. I understand if it was for the Devotion but there are wayyyy better options.
If you use the artifact that makes every creature every creature type, and combo it with card that lower ___ creature cost (dragon shaman, minotautr card that I cant remember the name of, ect..) you could make a deck where it can spam all the creatures for F R E E.
Could have played midnight clock in the first game on turn 3 if you weren't a dingus and played the fabled passage instead of evolving wilds, then waited for the cultivate to resolve and then crack the passage...
You are like me. May be i'm like you. I do a lot of crazy and unic decks since I play Magic, the Gathering at 2012-2014 to last year. Wish I can meet you personaly some day.
In the first game you could have played the passage as your 3rd land, made a green to cast cultivate putting a land on field to crack the passage for an untapped land and played the clock.
It would be so funny if wizards makes a red burn spell that also returns the effect of mana burn until end of turn at some point in the future. Obviously they won't because in paper magic you can just say how many times a reaction occurs but still would be a fun reaction added to a shock or bolt lol
in game one you could've played cultivate and clock if you put fabled down instead of evo wilds, because you could've waited until after casting cultivate to crack fabled and it would've had it's land come in untapped, unlike evo wilds
I mean, this seems like a reasonable enough combo, if you add Peer Into the Abyss and Chromatic Orrery to the mix I am pretty sure you can just straight up cast your deck. I so wanna do this combo...
@@clagen86 Nyxbloom is Monocolored, I might just throw this combo into a Sultai Ultimatum shell, that should work (I might also throw the Peer/Tergrid combo in there while I am at it)
When the elemental deck was around with creating massive amounts of mana for a buff, I used an autoclicker set to a macro on my numpad. 1000 clicks/sec, you can use all your mana, but you may crash the game.
Here's my idea. Scute swarm + yervo + mystic reflection. Throw in beanstalk giant for extra land. Why not add ruin crab(I think) for that landfall mill
@@thomasmiller8289 Double vision + Irencrag + Volcanic Geyser is my goto burn. Sometimes I also add Purphoros intervention since you get x trample elementals and/or double dmg to creatures/walkers. After irencrag you get 1 spell to cast and the x damage gets so high due to the irencrag given multiple +7 mana thanks to double vision. You can also throw in the ancients but they're more difficult to get into play. I could upload a video show casing it; easily my favorite burn since I generally speaking dislike creature decks since there's so much removal q_q which ironically helps burn decks since you have no early creatures except for a goose perhaps.
Alright, turning Ugin into a 0/1 plant is without a doubt the best thing I'll see all day.
@Jaxxon Kole nice double account
That Ugin coming down as a plant token... pure awesome!
Defensiv Reflection is the best reflection! Everybody can get bonkers with Phylath but to turn an Ugin or Tibalt into a 1/1 is priceless!
@@kallewirsch2030 A 0/1, actually ;)
was the best play of the game
1000 IQ play!
Opponent plays Ugin
Chris: You need a plant!
lmao loved it
Men that was amazing
Best moment ever!!
lol
Thanks for turning my Ugin into a plant lol.
Ugin, the Spirit Plant!
30:35 Kroxa is one of the 4 cards in the graveyard, so adding one more wouldn't let him escape it, mr señor Dingus-lord.
That sir, among many other things, is why he's in silver...
Okay... You officially need to make a grotag bug-catcher deck for the memes
It continues to boggle the mind that they didn't make Nyxbloom Ancient legendary.
And yet, it is incredibly rare in the wild to even see ONE being played.

Just make it stack additive instead of multiplicative and the problem is fixed.
@@ElSkizzle or make it spawn 1/1 token instead, would fix the issue too.
@@milanhvozdik3379 But this way you would have to change the card.

That guy that scooped when the glorious 2k mana from the midnight clock at 14:53 should get a perma-ban from MTGA.
Loved the mystic reflections Ugin play
Show me on the Bug Catcher where the aggro deck hurt you.
Man that Ugin that got turned into a useless potato plant was hilaroius 😆
This deck is quite a good metaphore of the whole financial system...
15:29 The "frak" when FC hits the battlefield cracked me up. You need a sound clip of that for whenever mono-red gets going...

My favourite part was the defensive mystic reflection, that was a hilarius close!
I saw last video yesterday then sleep, I wake up now and another video, I'm just happy

Extra janky cuz you have to mutate on it first to take away legendary on your original phylath.

Chris: Gaining five life? That seems overpowered, but apparently that is allowed in Magic. ANYWAY, I'm just going to tap a blue for 2700+ mana.
So fine that they did remove mana burn :D
Nyxbloom Ancient is one of those Jank-engines. It's like they forgot the word "legendary" on it, to sometimes hilarious effects!

I played the last version of this vs a mono black Grey Merchant deck. Suffice it to say when I copied the merchant it was an instant KO.
