    I was wondering when you would get to Mini-Pati. I adore SG, I’m one of the 30 year old plus that’d be in the audience. There’s an innocence and purity to the whole concept that is hard to explain to someone who isn’t a fukei. Including the sub units I now have 52 SG CDs, all the DVDs and of course all the graduation photo books. Naturally I have my pink SG flag to fly at every Babymetal concert I’ve been too. I love it and they bring me a great deal of happiness. Feeling sad? Listen to SG and the sadness goes away.

    🌸 🏫
    They're usually just known as Mini-Pati.
    This was the 2nd generation with Hana Taguchi, Yui Mizuno and Moa Kikuchi.
    Two of the members in this video were also original members of BABYMETAL.
    They are not strictly hamburger themed, that's just this song. : )
    There were also promotional tie-ins where they developed themed menu items at Tower Records cafés.
    I don't know how common Cooking Clubs are at real schools in Japan.
    The guy who arranges many of the Mini-Pati songs is Takahiro "Tak" Matsumoto, a Grammy Award-winning Japanese guitarist, producer, arranger, composer, singer and songwriter. : )
    He may be best known as the lead guitarist of B'z.
    Matsumoto will also be a guest artist on one of the tracks on the third BABYMETAL album, 'Metal Galaxy'.
    NOTE: I just checked, and it looks like this one was written and arranged by Ryuichi "Kyoujuu" Sakamoto, one of the co-founders of Yellow Magic Orchestra.

    • @lennyg47
      @lennyg47 5 лет назад +4

      Are you serious?! Ryuichi Sakamoto made this song!? You are blowing my mind. I've been a YMO fan forever and didn't know he worked with Sakura Gakuin. OMG! That is amazing. When I heard the electronic drums and synth sounds I thought it was Yasutaka Nakata's work. I'm sure he was greatly influenced by YMO. As silly as this song may be, it had to have been a great honor and privilege for the girls to have a legendary YMO synth guru compose and record music for them.
      I've suggested YMO to Howard (Baka Breakdown) awhile ago, but they don't have any new, recent releases.
      Please tell me Isao Tomita composed music for the science club sub-unit of Sakura Gakuin. I highly doubt he did, but I can dream.

    They really are school club-themed, they also have a newspaper club. The cheerleading club you mentioned is actually baton twirling.
    The musical theme of mini-pati seems to be 8-bit music influenced.
    The mini-pati sub-unit actually existed before Sakura Gakuin, the Ministry of Agriculture of Japan asked Amuse to come up with something to promote healthy eating. Karin Girl's existed and when that ended Sakura Gakuin was developed as a talent development group in Amuse. Mini-Pati became a sub-unit and 2/3 of the members of Karen Girl's were also added. That makes 5 of the original 10 or 12 (depending how you count, because Yui and Moa were added as transfer-ins, but before the first real public performance).

    • @Wombatmetal
      @Wombatmetal 5 лет назад +1

      While we're talking about clubs, Babymetal is the Juonbuo, the J-on, heavy music club; counter programming to the K-ons, light music clubs which are so popular in Japan. They did a good job with the sub unit themes.

    I have to fact check you. These aren't peers with Babymetal. It is two thirds of Babymetal (yellow - Yuimetal, Green - Moa), the same summer they played Sonisphere if my memory serves me right.
    I don't agree with the nursery rhyme. Imagine a huge visual production, skip the choreography and an adult voice and lyrics in *insert any European language* and it could be an Eurovision Song Contest-song. But it is most definitely a kid-friendly production and performance!
    Next Sakura Gakuin thing you should check out should be Logica-Science Girl, Silence Boy. This is the dance version because it is the most Mikiko choreography of all Mikiko choreographies. (Mikiko choreographs Perfume, Babymetal, Sakura Gakuin, Elevenplay. Oh, and she did the small gig of the Tokyo 2020 presentation at the Rio Olympics and is creative director for Tokyo 2020 opening.) Add google in the link. Something about copyrights and what not...

    A little bit of extra history: Mini-Pati existed before Sakura Gakuin and become a subgroup of SG when SG got started.
    Mini-Pati was created by Amuse at the request by a Japanese Ministry for Agriculture or something to promote certain types of food,
    Interesting fact: before Babymetal existed, Koba was one of the people involved with Mini-Pati, so it would be funny if he came up with the concept of the 8-bit electronic music, etc.

    Yuimetal..... yellow neckerchief
    Moametal....green neckerchief
    Dare I suggest that they are actually miming in this performance....? lol
    Their choreography was probably devised by a lady called Mikiko Mizuno (one of Japan's top choreographers), who creates all the BABYMETAL dance routines..... and she will also be in charge of the Tokyo 2020 Olympics opening ceremony!
    Can I once again suggest that you react to Sakura Gakuin: "Heart no Earth"..... one of the best SG songs from after Su graduated. (Yui and Moa are still there!) ruclips.net/video/50hE3tt9eJE/видео.html

    Thanks for this song, another sub-group that I hadn't known about. After watching a lot of these school songs I think the audience is mainly relatives/parents of the kids - cheering them on, and the rest of the school. These songs are aimed directly at the 7-13 age group (the ones with the most money :D - if you had a daughter you'd know what I mean).

    • @Wombatmetal
      @Wombatmetal 5 лет назад +4

      I know a Babymetal fan who flies to Japan every spring to attend the Sakura Gakuin graduation ceremonies. I wouldn't be so sure they are relatives.
      That being said the fans are called "Fukei" which means something like guardian, I will be corrected if I am wrong (and grateful for that). The relationship between fukei and SG encouraged to be like an uncle or parent, which is unlike other groups in the same age range.
      Japan has a nation wide obsession with youth and kawaii culture. This is all part of that.

    • @autohmae
      @autohmae 5 лет назад +6

      @@Wombatmetal Yes, they are school themed, so the fans, those attending, are called fukei, aka the relatives/parents/guardians.
      I pretty regularly hang around an English forum for Sakura Gakuin fans, the fans see the girls as their nieces.
      The audience in Japan includes little girls and adult women and adult men.
      The venue is usually seated I think. I've seen nothing unsavory. The fans all like them for how adorable/kawaii they are.
      A big part of the fun is getting to know their personalities and follow along with them growing up and improving their entertainment abilities.
      Remember these are the most promising talents Amuse has.
      For them to go on and be some of the best in the Japanese entertainment/modeling: TV/acting/music/etc. industry.
      And the stated goal is to become a super lady. Examples to look up are part of the 'school rules':
      TWO; Be A Really Unique! “In order to be irreplaceable one must always be different.” Coco Chanel said.
      FIVE; Let's Do It Together! ”A dream you dream alone is only a dream. A dream you dream together is reality.” Yoko Ono said.
      SIX; Think Of How Much Love! “It is not how much we do, but how much love we put in the doing. It is not how much we give, but how much love is put in the giving.” Mother Teresa said.
      etc.

      @@autohmae I think you touch on a good point that Sakura Gakuin is not a cash grab. I have read in a couple of Japanese business publications how SG does maximize their income, and they say making money is welcome, but the purpose of the group is to take young talent, and develop them for adult careers in the tv/modeling/acting/music business.
