Having climbed a fair number of mountains, I can say for sure that Guiting-Guiting is DEFINITELY not for beginners. Seeing you and your team tackling all that wind and rain both going up and down and not having a clearing for the most part gave me the chills. I was lucky to have had beautiful weather all throughout my own traverse (Olango-Tampayan) hike last year. But even so, it was still challenging. This mountain tests you both physically and mentally. Thumbs up to all of your tips, Neil. Great videos, by the way. More power to you. A fan here. 🙂 ADDITIONAL TIP: Wear waterproof rubber gloves to assist with scrambling over sharp rocks. Helps improve grip and not getting cut by the rocks.
Just to avoid confusion to those who will be doing the tampayan-olango traverse and vice versa. I think it’s worth mentioning that the daypack will only be necessary when doing the backtrail route. More power to you sir💯
Thank you for sharing this sir! Traverse is a different situation. For our climb, we did backtrail all throughout. Summit assault as well, that’s why we brought daypack.
Subscribed! Definitely one of the best vlogs I've watch for hiking content :) Sir Neil, tama ba okay din mag hammock set up dito sa G2 instead sa tent?
The information you provide is great. It helps me a lot while hiking in the Philippines. I hope to be able to hike with you someday. MT. GUITING-GUITING. Is this place always open? Do I need a guide with me?
Hello! Thanks! yes it's open but you need to book ahead of your climb. Climbing Mt. Guiting-Guiting require guides. I suggest you find group events that have a scheduled there.
