What I find amazing is that early English translations of YHVH (including the King James) pronounced God’s Name as “Yehovah”. The letter “J” came into English at a later time. All the Hebrew names with a Y sound were changed to J in English after this time. I remember hearing that Jehovah came from combing the consonants from YHVH with the vowels from Adonai. This gives us the Divine Name perfectly. Once we go back to the original Y sound from the later coming J sound. The Name was hiding in plain sight all along.

Doesn't really matter, but I do wish everyone understood what you are saying; I prefer the traditional names usually just so everyone who reads the comments understands who I am talking about. We can get in debates about the proper spelling of names; the Prophets names like Isaiah, Jeremiah, Zechariah, should almost certainly all actually end in "yahu", not "iah". The common English translations all get this wrong; I do appreciate that the ISR translation tries to correct the mispronounced names. The sad truth is there is so much richness in the original Hebrew language that is lost in translation. That is why I come to watch "Nehemiah"; even his name should really be "Nehemyahu" if we are being honest!
At the time God most definitely revealed his name to Israel and they knew it well. The idea of not mentioning or pronouncing his name is later invented by the sages. The original idea was not to use his known name or call on his name (regardless how it was pronounced) in vain. But one was to call on him if it was to praise him or for a legitimate reason vs using it just because like saying OMG or the likes. His name is holy and not something to be played with. But if it was for a true cause one could call or address him by name. In Hebrew, "that shall not use the Lord's name in vain" is translated as "לא תשא את שם יהוה אלהיך לשווא" (Lo tisa' et shem YHWH Elohekha la shavva), which literally means "You shall not lift up the name of the Lord your God in vain. So how could one call on his name if one didn’t know it or if it was encoded or silenced, as if God was hard of hearing. He listens to the one who does his will and calls on his name and respects him. But the one who willingly sins that persons calls are in vain and fall to deaths ears because God will not listen no matter which name you address him as. He only listens to the ones who do his will they can call on his most holy name! And his name is a title!

At the time God most definitely revealed his name to Israel and they knew it well. The idea of not mentioning or pronouncing his name is later invented by the sages.
The original idea was not to use his known name or call on his name (regardless how it was pronounced) in vain. But one was to call on him if it was to praise him or for a legitimate reason vs using it just because like saying OMG or the likes. His name is holy and not something to be played with. But if it was for a true cause one could call or address him by name.
In Hebrew, "that shall not use the Lord's name in vain" is translated as "לא תשא את שם יהוה אלהיך לשווא" (Lo tisa' et shem YHWH Elohekha la shavva), which literally means "You shall not lift up the name of the Lord your God in vain.
So how could one call on his name if one didn’t know it or if it was encoded or silenced, as if God was hard of hearing. He listens to the one who does his will and calls on his name and respects him. But the one who willingly sins that persons calls are in vain and fall to deaths ears because God will not listen no matter which name you address him as. He only listens to the ones who do his will they can call on his most holy name! And his name is a title!

Well I think the point is to show the folly of the rabbis thinking they needed to hide the name . Nehemiah is tracing back to piece together how this evolved over time .
