Sangam led the ceremony with 11 nominations, followed by Dosti with 7 nominations and Shehar Aur Sapna with 4 nominations.
Dosti won 6 awards, including Best Film and Best Music Director (Laxmikant-Pyarelal), thus becoming the most-awarded film at the ceremony.
Sangam was the runner-up of the ceremony with 4 awards, including Best Director (for Raj Kapoor) Best Actress (for Vyjayanthimala).

@@rakeshsadeo thanks. Saved me time. Hemant Kumar made some excellent thrillers and Khamushi, one of my all time favorites.
Loved the episode but bit surprised not to see Kashmir Ki kali, rajkumar, haqeekat, zindagi not being nominated at all. Also i feel dilip kumar though was great actor, this time the actors (both were brilliant) in dosti deserved the best actor award. Same goes for direction where raj kapoor won though he was great filmmaker, this time satyen bose deserved it for dosti. I think dosti was perfect in all departments. Otherwise well deserved for all others. This is my personal opinion.

Sare awards ekdam thik the. Nominations itna close tha ke decide karna mushkil hai ke award kisko dia jay . Ek se bad kar ek nominations the. Best actor Dilip Kumar , Best actress Vaijantimala , Best Director , Raj Kapoor , Best Film Dosti , ye char main awards bohot achhe the. Kya acting kia tha Dilip Kumar ne . Best playback me Muhammad Rafi ka gaya hua amar geet " chahunga main tujhe sanjh sawere" aaj bhi dil ko touch karta hai , award na milne babajood bhi mukesh ji ka gaana " dost dost na raha " award ke Kabil thi. Best music me main disagree karta hoon. Best music " woh kaun thi " ke liye Madan mohan ko jana chahiye tha. Best lyricist Majrooh sahab ko " chahunga main tujhe sanjh sawere" gaane ke lie thik mila. Neerupa Roy ko best supporting actress ek dam thik. But best supporting actor Rajendra Kumar ko film Sangam keliye milna chahiye tha. Best story Banvatt for Dosti and best dialogue Dosti thik thi. 1966 filmfare awards ka intezar hai.

Most of the prominent music directors of that time refused to score the music for this film as there was no star cast (two teenage unknown actors) and also they feel there was nothing in the film to compose the songs for Blind and Physically Disabled Children. But Laxmikant-Pyarelal took up the challenge and the film music became a History.
Songs the film DOSTI became a rage throughout the nation and continue to be played till today. Laxmikant-Pyarelal also proved that the songs of their earlier films, "Parasmani", "Harischandra Taramati", “Aaya Toofan”, "Sant Gyanewshwar" and "Sati Savitri" was not a "fluke".
Rajashri Film’s “DOSTI” became super hit film of the year. It has a persuasive direction, potent acting by all the performers and the powerful music. The real “STAR” of the film was only Laxmikant-Pyarelal’s music. B Grade and Low Budget film but the entire success of the film was carried away by Laxmikant-Pyarelal’s “MAGICAL MUSIC”.
DOSTI music put Laxmikant-Pyarelal in top music directors rank and made them a "household name" in the India.
Who kauan tai is one of my favorites. Raaj Khosla was one of the greats. Very underrated.
This is probably not a popular thing to say, I am not a big Raaj Kapoor fan. His movies had great music but in my opinion he was a very self indulgent director. I didn’t understand Sangam. I never understood why he played such a victim when he got everything.
Anyway, these were the beginning of the golden era of Indian commercial cinema. Good stories and great music and larger than life stars.
I can only say Raj Kapoor was extra ordinary in every aspect..
@@rakeshsadeo Bobby was a perfect movie, and Sytam Shivam Sundaram is an excellent complex movie which dealt with incredibly difficult issues of religion. His early movies were mostly Chaplin derivative films. Despite its reputation, Mera Naam Joker is a self indulgent, over long, confused, with the same cliche of a sad clown laughing on the outside.
Just my opinion. I prefer Dev Anand’s amoral characters mostly inspired by Dostoyevsky and existentialist philosophy, such as Taxi Driver, Jaal and Kala Bazzar.
@KamillGran-ch5sb you need to understand Raj Kapoor cinema from beginning including those films which were not directed by him like jaagte raho..ab Dilli door nahi.. Raj Kapoor can not be discussed in small comments..he was much bigger than that..shree 420 was about cooperative societies.. about togetherness of normal people to build their houses.. spreading awareness all over India about cooperative societies...jis Desh mein ganga behti hai was to give second chance of life to families of dacoits..you may be aware that so many dacoits surrendered after his film... Prem Rog was about widow remarriage.. and there is lot more
@@rakeshsadeo he definitely had a socialist themed in his movies and it explains his popularity in Russia. His social message movies were hammered in, way over melodramatic. Maybe too Indian specific for my taste.

Yes..awards are a game from the beginning..all these films and jahan ara was not included in the music category.. surprising...

Best competitive awards where dosti had tough competion with sangam in music director singer and lyricist and rakeshji I think you will also agree that awards had been given to right person. While in actor and supporting actor case for actor rajkapoor in sangam and dhermendra in ayee milan ki Bela might be right choice.shher aur spana must have been miss by most of viewers like me.whenever you come with film fare awards video it become very interesting to discuss my view with you .Good media through which we get information and exchange our view.
