I’m doing this cruise next year on that ship too. For Capri I wanted to try and do this as well as the blue grotto but not sure if enough time. Did you consider this and how much time did the chair lift take up for you?
You could do the chairlift up and down with some photo opps in an hour. If your tight for time, just get a cab to the chair lift and then get a taxi down to where you would do the grotto tour.

We bought the ferry ticket on the day. The ferry port is only 5 minutes away from where the ship docks. You can also buy the funicular train ticket €2 from the confectionery shop near the ticket office. We booked the fast ferry which took approx 45 minutes.

Yes they are really high in parts. It’s so quiet and peaceful up there as well. One of our group is absolutely terrified of heights, she loved it 😍
