Puppies Driven Over By Negligent SUV Driver In Ghaziabad Society

- 2 May, 2024: One of the five puppies drinking milk from their mother in the middle of the road was driven over by a car driver who did not apply brakes on time.
Initially this was considered an accident as car driver claimed dogs came suddenly in front of his car and he couldn't see them at all, but later when CCTV footage was checked, things turned out to be different as driver did not apply brakes, honked or even waited for dogs to clear the road, instead negligently kept on dragging the dogs under his SUV until one of the puppies was crushed severely and maiming another, resulting in agonizing pain and heart sunking wails that gathered attention of nearby residents. As the skull cracked due to the impact, puppy died within few seconds of the incident before even he could be touched, let alone to be taken to a veterinarian.
Female dog who recently gave birth to a liter of six has already lost one of her puppies who was found dead on 22 April under a car, causes of which couldn't be ascertained due to lack of CCTV at the backside of the society. This time however CCTV footage assisted to find the culprit who is a resident in the same society and FIR has been lodged after finding details of the owner from the car number visible in the CCTV footage. Case is under investigation by Ghaziabad police and further details will be added as investigation proceeds and case is tried in court.
Many people dislike dogs but they forget that killing or maiming dogs is illegal and punishable under Indian Penal Code. Feeding dogs in residential areas cannot be penalized by Resident Welfare Associations but instead designated feeding areas should demarcated by RWAs to ensure that animals don't starve, also considering well being of society residents.
Stray dogs can be dangerous and to solve this issue, Government of India has notified Animal Birth Control (ABC) Rules, 2023 which aims to curb dog population by neutering or spaying methods of sterilization. Instead of buying exotic foreign dog breeds that do not even thrive in Indian climate, adopt a street street dog who are just as lovely and loyal. This way you are not only giving a dog its home but also reducing stay dog population and discouraging unethical pet breeding by breeders as well.

This is just one incident that got captured on camera. Every day countless animals are killed for leather or flesh and there is little regulation in slaughterhouses. And by consuming a vegetarian diet also we are not really preventing animal abuse to a great extent because cows are also given various kinds of injections so that they produce more milk and when they grow old, their owners leave them in the open where they spend their last days eating all sorts of waste then dying from malnutrition and hunger. Some people claim that slaughtering cows is more humane than leaving them to suffer but in my opinion cows should be given shelter by their owners for their entire age.
Poultry, goats and even other farm animals are exempt from animal cruelty laws in many nations but at least dogs and cats are protected.
In today's industrialized world, there is little an individual can do, where even humans are daily abused by countless corporations which pay a pittance for the work they perform, disregarding any form of job security or even retirement benefits, let alone treating animals with care.
Veganism is not sustainable for everyone but at least animals can be treated better even if we continue with our present policies.
I do not judge any person for their diet and believe in freedom of food and religion, but at least we can reduce our dependence on animals and treat them better.

when i see animal cruelty , idk why i feel helpless, that we cannot save a life. such a traumatic event happened in front of my house, school van crushed our puppy due to negligence.
