Instructions for making a basic skirt construction for example dimensions, step by step.
To draw the construction and sew the basic skirt, you need the following dimensions:
- waist circumference
- hip circumference
- the length of the skirt
- in addition, you may need depending on the structure of your figure and the difference in proportions,
eg: front length - measured in the middle of the front from the waistline to the floor
side length - measured along the right side from the waist line to the floor
back length - measured in the middle of the back from the waistline to the floor
Based on the length measurements taken, various types of deviations from the proportions in the body structure can be found (e.g. a silhouette with a protruding belly will allow you to take this into account when drawing the structure and draw it properly so that after sewing the skirt, the bottom edge of the fabric does not lie too close to the legs.
The structure is made to exemplary dimensions in the scale of 1:4
Waist circumference: 72 cm
Hip circumference: 100 cm
Side length: 60 cm
Front length: 59 cm
Back length: 58 cm
