great episode guys! thanks for announcing films early, love having an opportunity to check this trashy flicks in preparation. and i had a really different experience with them, then you. don't panic was all right, most exiting part of the film, without a doubt, were dinosaur jammies. but faust was a lot of fun! just an epitome of edgy, 90's, comics. my favorite line in the film, was in the beginning, when jaspers painting and states his displeasure with modern art, when he says "you know what? it's all form, no substance", and ironically that is the most accurate description of the movie. film actually explains how faust got in the psych ward or why M decided to bury him, so you missed some of the plot points, but it's not surprising considering how it's all edited. prime example of why you shouldn't edit movies high on coke, or if you do, then have a disclaimer in the begin, so audience would prepare themselves. but i found really funny all of the scenes, where they had a nice, six or eight seconds long dolly shot, and editor's like "it will be better if it's only two seconds long, but with six jump cuts, sudden needle drop and about seven hundred *wush* sound effects!!!1". also loved that bad guy's name is M and he leads an evil cult, The Hand, so of course M's mansion has a logo of two hands holding each other, forming letter M. that's just good branding, as far as i'm concerned. film has a grate deal of cool practical effects, but the best scene is in the end, in the dungeon of satanic-sex cult, when, with help of a suicide-orgy and belly snake, they summon homunculus a.k.a. laser shooting hell worm, faust goes to fight him, but by this point production clearly run out of money, so our cool hero just jumps near the worm while swinging his fuck-off claws, missing every time. there is a high angle wide shot, that captures faust in all of his glorious uselessness, he looks like a little kid, that tries to reach cookies from the top shelf. that was really funny, like this whole movie. easily, one the best superhero films.
First off, HELL YES! This is the first episode of the show I've watched but the discussion was awesome and I'm excited to see what you cover next. Also, I have a little bit if extra context to add to the Faust comic vs movie points you guys made this episode: The Faust Hornbook that came out around 2000 has the comic slated to be 13 issues with the "final" two being pencilled already. The series ended up being 15 issues (so you still have two to go, Mahfood!) but it would seem that whenever the movie was being made, the ending of the story was already in place so the rushed ending was probably more the fault of Yuzna and co. than Quinn/Vigil not having a concrete ending. Also, as to the costume seeming more fleshy in the movie, it evolves into something similar in the comics. The further Jaspers sinks into his madness, the costume becomes less superheroic spandex and more an extension of Jaspers. The rubber suit they filmed looks like garbage but you can at least see where they pulled the more organic look from if you flip through the last third of the series. Lastly, the movie seems to speed run all the plot from issues 5 to 15 at the tail end, rushing through that whole end setpiece scene. Those issues (especially 11) are where Vigil and Quinn seem to be at the height of their collaborative powers and almost all of the plot and visuals get skipped over from those. It would have been tough to do a lot of that stuff on a B-movie budget but it also means that major points were entirely skipped over.
Great episodes. I think reviewing Freaked, Alex Winters joint, would fit in nicely with this show. Not so much horror comic themed but definitely crazy bazarro art and fx themed.
Nice to see you here from Comic Tropes. Alex Winter is an impressive guy. He directed a fairly early from the Red Hot Chilli Peppers. I take it he is an L.A. guy, because Chilli Peppers are the Kings of California / the Lords of L.A. 😊😊😊
Oh, anyone can use it. We’re just saying it’s a strange choice for comics to use it as a villain name since Daredevil already used it. It would be like a new indie comic using a villain named Hydra.
I just watched 'No Surrender No Retreat' the other day. It was so cliche; so poorly acted; so stupid: that you simply could not stop watching it: hoping it would redeem itself in the next scene/but hoping that it could get even more silly. Its an Overground Underground (or: "A Wommble Effort") film, but: maybe you guys would like to cover it? Whatever fame it has, that may put you off using it, is TOTALLY undeserved. I believe its popularity has been cynically levered an artificially manufactured, by placing one of of the actors, a young Jean Claude Van Damme, solely on tbe cover; in actuality JCVD is only on camera for around 6minutes. Just an idea for you guys, if you are looking for one. Good work on this seroes guys. You are both Ace, and this thing will get bigger and bigger. People love "audio" videos, as you can work AND listen. This will catch. 😊
The thing is that it was a pretty popular movie in the 80s...for almost the same reasons as it is now. It has become a little more obscure over the years, but maybe not quite enough to come to mind when looking for something that isn't too well known. Van Damme is one of the major reasons why it's relatively famous. FYI, there are different cuts of it available (incl. skilled fan edits), if you're eager to re-watch it at some point in time. And the sequel isn't as cheesy, but somewhat action heavier...and also in no way connected to the 1st story, down to an entirely different cast (e.g. Cynthia Rothrock in a supporting role), because Van Damme and Kurt Mckinney chickened out on filming in Cambodia.

Wow, that's basically an essay. Thank you for your thoughtful observations.

Jim, your house is Phat, man! Fair play. That's what hard work Will get you man. Really nice big place.
Really loving this show! It's introducing me to so many ridiculous movies i cant wait to inflict on my friends.
That is totally what we're aiming for. Thanks for watching.
I vaguely remember Don't Panic because of the guy riding the bike in pajamas but didn't recall anything else about it.
I hope our goofy recollections and observations helped.
And here I thought I was the only one to watch "Faust". Glad to be in such great company.
Jim and I try to dig into stuff that hasn't been covered TOO much. Welcome to the Trash community.
It’s funny to me that both of these films were on RLMs Best of the Worst.
Great episodes. I think reviewing Freaked, Alex Winters joint, would fit in nicely with this show. Not so much horror comic themed but definitely crazy bazarro art and fx themed.

😊😊😊
I second this! Love Alex Winter.
Another great episode guys! Have you considered reviewing the downright weirdness of the live action Guyver films (1991 and 1994)
Love the hilarious 😂 editing. Lmao seeing Chris cat eyes red jacket
We have a good team! Jamie is a great editor and an important part of making the show work.
"Mexican Ninja with a Shotgun" you just created a new genre 😂
I think you guys would like Blood Beat and its unusual creation backstory.
I'm loving this series!!!
Michael channeled his inner Power Ranger in that action scene
Hahaha!
Trash Movie Bonanza's such a great pre-weekend treat =D.
It's a treat for us to make so thanks for the kind words.
I assumed the unibrow was done on purpose to make her a little dorky? It looked like make-up appliance like a merkin...🤭
Faust just moved up to the top of my need to watch list! And then Don't Panic!
Great show you guys! Great opening. Looking forward to watching more.
Thank you. We've already recorded another episode and there's more to come.
Lol at your skit at the beginning
That's all Jim's. He's a funny guy.
Loved the comic series when I was younger. Incredible artwork so I was excited to rent this one years ago. Yeah, it's not good.
How have I never heard of this Faust movie? I feel like it should be on more lists of bad superhero movies
That intro is still way too dope like how
Yo i cant find the movie but once i find it ill share
Faust wasn't great. The director commentary (also featuring Screaming Mad George) is A++++. The making of this was batshit
@ 1:09:54 - "The Hand"
Not all words can be trademarked. Especially generic descriptions like "car", "house" or "hand" are free for all, so to say.
Oh, anyone can use it. We’re just saying it’s a strange choice for comics to use it as a villain name since Daredevil already used it. It would be like a new indie comic using a villain named Hydra.
I wanna be hopped up on goofballs!
What a joy to wake up to!
Kind words like that fuel us to continue.
Hahaha great title for an (80s) action movie. "Mexican Ninja, with a shotgun"... 😂😂. I would watch it!
Now I'm panicking!
But the lesson is to NOT panic!
Oh that's so funny, these films are so weird.
Oh my gosh Jim! Can I send you a copy of Wha Huh?? for you to sign?
The best way to reach Jim is through his site. Links in the episode description.
@@ProsAndConsLive Thanks!

He needs to fix his lighting
