  • Ooey Gooey Butter Cake
    1 box yellow cake mix
    4 eggs
    1 stick butter (melted)
    1 teaspoon vanilla
    8 oz cream cheese softened at room temperature
    2 ½ cups powdered sugar
    Preheat oven to 350°
    In a medium mixing bowl add cake mix, 2 eggs, vanilla, and melted butter. Mix well using a hand mixer to incorporate and set aside.
    Spray a 9x13 baking dish with cooking spray AND line with parchment paper.
    Pour cake batter onto the parchment lined baking dish and smooth evenly.
    In a separate bowl, combine softened cream cheese and powdered sugar. Mix on low speed with a hand mixer until well combined. Add two eggs and blend until the mixture is completely smooth and incorporated.
    Pour the cream cheese mixture over the cake mix layer and bake for 35-40 minutes until golden brown. The cake should have a slight jiggle and mostly set when it’s removed from the oven.
    Immediately after the cake is removed from the oven, lift the parchment paper gently from the baking dish and place the parchment paper onto a wire rack for the cake to cool completely - this will take 1 ½ - 2 hours. Once the cake is completely cool, cut it into squares. Enjoy!

      That makes me smile 😊 I guess we were both thinking alike! My brother-in-law had some yesterday after I made it and all he said was, “delicious”. Hope you enjoy this recipe too. It’s super easy and sooo good! Likewise, the smell from the oven when it’s cooking fills the house with the most incredibly yummy aroma. Let me know what your family thinks of this recipe and I hope you have a great weekend!

    As I am from St. Louis, I know these cakes are everywhere to buy them. They are a St. Louis tradition. Only difference I see with your is that you didn't sprinkle or dust powdered sugar on top of the cake. I grew up eating those cakes. Yummy 😋

    Awesome job! Thanks for sharing. My grandkids buy it from Walmart all the time, and really need to bake it themselves.
    Thanks again for sharing ❤

      It’s a great dessert to make, rather quickly, and so delicious. Also, you can experiment with the cake flavors too for seasonal variations. 😊 Thanks for watching and I hope you have a blessed weekend!!!

    You say use a half a stick that you're using a whole stick so is it half a stick or a whole stick of butter

      You will need 1/2 cup or one stick of butter that has been melted. Sorry for the confusion. If ever in doubt, you can always check the description as I have the recipe listed there as well. I apologize for the confusion - apparently I just got ahead of myself in the video. Thanks for watching and have a blessed day!

    The parchment paper seems like a little bit of a pain lol 😂 Why does a lot of recipes use a different amount of powdered sugar in the topping? A little confusing.

  • @carbro101
    @carbro101 11 месяцев назад +1

    Why not add the 2 eggs to the bowl before you mix? Would that not be easier?

    • @stephsstovebystephaniethom7249
      @stephsstovebystephaniethom7249  11 месяцев назад

      Are you referring to the cream cheese part of the recipe? If so I usually add the cream cheese first. Fell free to adjust the order if you like. This is what works best for me. 😊 Thanks for watching and I hope you have a blessed weekend!!!

    Unless I missed it, most people put a stick of melted butter, and some vanilla extract in the filling as well.

    • @TinathePomMom
      @TinathePomMom 5 месяцев назад

      @1:26 She said 1/2 a stick of butter, but used a whole stick. She probably meant 1/2 a cup. And, @3:12 she added the vanilla extract.😊

    I love watching your videos,but it seems like you don't have enough counter space to work on,it seems like your cramped up just with the top of your stove 😊

    • @stephsstovebystephaniethom7249
      @stephsstovebystephaniethom7249  Год назад +1

      Thank you! I actually do have counter space but it does not allow for a good camera angle and lighting. This is why I have chosen to film from the stove. The area the camera captures is a small space and I want the best view. Sometimes it doesn’t come out perfect, but I’m trying to improve with each video. Thanks again for your comment, I appreciate your feedback! Have a blessed weekend!!! 😊

    In Paula Deen’s recipe she only used one egg in the crust you use two is there a reason… Thanks

    • @stephsstovebystephaniethom7249
      @stephsstovebystephaniethom7249  Месяц назад +2

      I use two eggs to provide more structure to the crust and prevents the crust from being crumbly and dry. Thanks for watching and your question. Have a blessed day and a Merry Christmas! 🎁🎄
