      When Ru walks over to PhiPhi and she still had that awful hellraiser disco ball perched on the shoulder of her bodice. She was asking her why she was representing THE GIANT CHIP ON HER SHOULDER instead of "Hope Floats".

    So some fun tidbits. Willam mentioned in the race chaser podcast, that they gave latrice extra time on her boat because it was actually too small and that no one cared about that because they were more mad that the producers didn't accommodate latrice to begin with. Also did anyone else immediately flashback to jasmine masters says cocoon when jiggly was repeating San Tropez?

    Regarding the bit about the first brick thrown at stonewall, Marsha P. Johnson was a drag queen, who was known for telling others that her gender was none of their business. (The P stood for "Pay it no mind") She never identified herself as a trans woman, even though it's highly likely she was one. But regardless of her gender identity, she was still a drag queen, so it is correct to say that a drag queen threw the first brock at stonewall.

    • @DrunkenEros
      @DrunkenEros 6 лет назад +9

      So would you say it's like Peppermint, Gia, Jiggly etc where they are trans women who are still drag entertainers? Just to give a comparison

    • @demidaemon1982
      @demidaemon1982 6 лет назад +5

      It's up to them to say whether or not they are, though it is likely Peppermint would say she is both.

    • @asterlyons8564
      @asterlyons8564 6 лет назад +5

      @@DrunkenEros I know Peppermint considers herself a drag queen as well as a trans woman. I believe Gia does as well, but im not sure about that. I think I heard somewhere that Jiggly is no longer performing in drag, but again im not 100% sure on that one.

    • @asterlyons8564
      @asterlyons8564 6 лет назад +1

      @@transmatized That's what I said, that she was likely both. All reputable sources I've seen say Marsha was present at the riot. As far as I can tell, the controversy is whether or not Sylvia Rivera was present. And while I'm certainly no expert in the subject, the amount of time I've spent looking this subject up has led me to believe that Marsha was the one who famously "Threw the first brick at stonewall" while Stormé was the first to get into a physical altercation with a police officer during the riot.

  • @aedanroberts6822
    @aedanroberts6822 6 лет назад +35

    I do agree that the judging this episode was crazy- but in a slight (ever so slight) defense of Billy-B's hypocrisy: Willam never tried to auggest that her float was anything but an homage to herself. I think it was probably BECAUSE Milan went out there claiming her boat had all these high-minded ideas wrapped up in it that made the fact that it was really all about Milan a bit more galling. Like the saying "don't piss on me and tell me it's raining" thing. Did he go overboard in his "I'm offended" bull? Yup. But I can see where one wouldn't be "offended" by Willam's unabashed self-loving and then get put off by Milan's bullshit speech that wasn't actually carried over into the float itself.

    • @tannersebastian3675
      @tannersebastian3675 6 лет назад +5

      I'm gonna give Phi Phi the benefit of the doubt and say it was producers writing a letter and signing Kenya's name, not thinking she'd SPOILER Ruturn to the competition. Apparently Mayhem got a threatening letter that never made it to air because she didn't react to it as big. I've been told Dusty's not the type to be mean to a girl by saying "you're next, bitch" and many suspect its the producers trying to stir up drama.

    Know your herstory/conspiracy theory time: Milan mentioning that her look was inspired by Kevin Aviance was definitely the worst thing she could have done (before that lip-sync, at least). RuPaul, at the time, was still quite upset at Kevin Aviance because of a guest verse Kevin did on the La'Mady track "This is New York City (Bitch!)" that took a swipe at Ru. Would Milan have actually been in the bottom 2 if she hadn't dropped the Aviance name?

I think she started transitioning around 2015-2016 and she was very secretive about it even then because she wasn't ready to be a role model/spokesperson for trans people because she had very recently come to terms with her gender identity. Fun fact: in Portuguese, we use the same word for "Top" and "Active", just like we use the same word for "Bottom" and "Passive".

    The repetition of "fashion forward" reminds me of college, when I dated a woman (who identified as male back then) who was doing drag with the name "Fashion Ford," which took me a VERY LONG TIME to figure out what that meant, because I have never had a lick of fashion sense.

    Marsha P. Johnson WAS a drag queen though. He referred to himself as a man.
    Either way, the person who initiated the Stonewall Riots was Stormé DeLarverie, a biracial lesbian.

      Actually, it is much more interesting than that, from a modern perspective. How to speak about Marsha, and if it is right to speak about her from a "modern interpretation" kind of viewpoint. However, from what I could gather, she never stated she considers herself a man, and usually used female pronouns. In modern vocabulary she was at least gender non conforming. See: Marsha "pay it no mind" Johnson.
      www.nytimes.com/interactive/2018/obituaries/overlooked-marsha-p-johnson.html
      "The term transgender was not in wide use in Johnson’s lifetime; she usually used female pronouns for herself, but also referred to herself as gay [=/= automatically cis man], as a transvestite or simply as a queen."
      Signed: your friendly neighborhood transwoman ;)

    Im a PR Specialist and professional comedy writer. But what i wish I was would be a Studio Executive or Producer because I would bring you in to punch up these tired ass shows that are good but the writers or Directors have either missed the mark or have only taken a shows platform so far like drag race tends to do. The creative force of this youtube show that you both come together and tweak the fuck out of these movies and shows and make it so much better and your creativity has even advanced personally, great job guys !
