Beats are the best, I know, I've reviewed them at The Verrge. in a in depth comparison we compared the Beats to a. A Potato b. 7 GB of RAM c. Ray Tracing Etch a Sketch d. 5 Gallons of Mayo In conclusion, the Beats EASILY sounded the best with the Potato coming in a close 2nd. But the Mayo was the most comfortable to put on your head. Live by the Verrge, Die by the Verrge.
It has its pros and cons, It leads me to believe that it was less though in which is better than the other "one person more professional review", but having another person also try them and just casually talk about them makes the review feel more natural (you can see their reactions).
yeah he wasn’t paid for the sponsorship but they gave him the headphones for free thinking their headphones were good so they would get a positive review. They didn’t…
Wtf they missed the best part of the Sony interface... You can hold you palm over the right earcup to turn the music down and let ambient noise in. It's great to use of someone is trying to talk to you if you have your headphones on.
Idk i have the sony ones (XM2) and i have never used that in public. It just feels dumb to do that, and i think its also more respectful to just take them off.
@@0M9H4X_Neckbeard the mx does have that feature, it also has the ambient setting which lets you hear people talking to you but it blocks the noise still
IMHO this format is perfect you see in real time why and it's more authentic rather than the refined scripted ones but the scripted ones still have their place.
Is the bass on sony is overpowered the other sound in song. Like i hate if a earphone or headphone that had bass overpowered the other instrument and the voice of the singer. But no bass at all is also suck. Just a nice bass without overpowered other instrumental sound and singer voice
@@repz9190 the Sony MDR-XB950 headphones have an extreme powerful bass with crystal clear treble and perfect balance of mids in my opinion. if you're looking for earphones, go for MDR-XB75AP.
I spent a lot of time with both the Bose and Sony headphones trying to choose between them so I'll just go ahead and write my full hot take on them here. They were hard to choose between at first but after a lot of use the Sonys proved to be far superior. Similar: -Sound quality and noise canceling were pretty similar between them. The Sony has a slight edge but I wouldn't make any decisions based on that. -Also similar is comfort. Both are equally comfortable under normal conditions, but excel in different area. The bose clamps a little more and goes all the way around your ears which is good for keeping them on, but the Sonys lay more flat and don't rely as much on the cups for noise canceling. You can hold them surprisingly far off your ears and still get effective noise canceling making them much better for using over long hair or a beanie if you want to exercise with them without ruining them with sweat. -Both headphones are also equally useless with voice assistants. It's probably more Google's fault than anyone but no matter what you do it always somehow forgets that it's already set up and stops what you're listening to lecture you with useless drawn out instructions. Don't buy any of these based on that functionality because it's only good as a demo. Bose victories -The lack of physical buttons are my biggest complaint with the Sony. Imprecise gestures, brushing against something or even poorly placed long hair can cause you to skip tracks when you didn't want to. They apparently know it's a problem because you can turn off the touchpad and just control it with your phone so why didn't they just use physical buttons to begin with? I'm hoping the next generation fixes that. The Bose has them, they work well and they also have a power toggle switch so you don't have to hold it down for 5 seconds and then put them back on to see if it worked. It's a surprisingly big quality of life difference. -The Bose ability to simultaneously connect to two bluetooth devices should go here, but it doesn't really work. If you have it connected to your laptop and your phone (I can't think of any other use for it) and pause one to listen to the other it works if both connections are perfect but if there's a stutter in the connection or a peep of static comes through from the paused device the other connection becomes a stuttering mess. It's not just an occasional problem either, your connection is just always crap when you have two devices connected and it does it automatically so you have to manually disconnect from the other device if you happen to be near two paired devices at once. Sony victories -Included app: I feel obligated to put the app first because the Bose app triggers me so much. You have to turn your GPS on to use it at all, and if you turn it off while it's open it refuses to work. I would have switched to the Sony's even if they were inferior because of this affront but thankfully they aren't. You don't technically have to use the app to use either one on any device but you will constantly run into pairing issues if you try to go without them. It's oftly suspicious that $300 cutting edge bluetooth devices have this much trouble pairing without their data harvesting app, but at least the Sony app is tolerable. -Battery: I don't particularly care that the interface happens to be USB C, but it does allow super fast charging. Not that the Sony's need it, the battery will last for days of heavy use before it needs a quick top up. The Bose battery isn't bad but it feels like a completely different generation of device compared with the Sonys. -Max volume: I've always been very careful with my hearing so I typically only use the bottom quarter of the volume bar when I'm using wired headphones, so it came as a shock to me when I found myself regularly maxing out the volume on the Bose QC35s. I used to sometimes wear earplugs under my QC15's to listen to stuff in very loud environments and they were more than up to the task, but if you find yourself listening to a poorly mastered (too quiet) audiobook in even a somewhat loud environment you likely won't be able to compensate enough to make out what's being said. Beyond that it makes me very skeptical of their long term reliability if they're always running at max volume, one of the sets I got was already starting to have problems. The Sonys suffer from no such shortcoming, they don't get as loud as older wired headphones but they're far louder than I've ever needed. -I'll mention the NFC here but it's just a gimmick. It's only for pairing and you need the app to make it work anyway so it doesn't really save any time. -One other interesting difference that I noticed. If you're using them in a plane, or even just a car in a very hilly area you'll notice that the Sony's do a significantly better job at not making your ears feel full as you change altitudes. I don't know what they're doing differently but it's noticeable. Anyway, that's about everything I have to say about them. The Sony headphones are clearly superior in my opinion, hopefully someone actually reads this and gets some useful information from it lol.
You guys forgot to mention you can rest your hand on the right side of the Sony headphone and it will turn on mics so you hear external sound and talk with people without taking it off.
You can do the same with Bose. rest your hand on ANY side of the headphone, lift and slide backward off your ear. Other benefit is that you don't look like you are being rude.
Not just talking, lets say you are walking with your headphones on and you want to hear an announcement on something the sony feature would be much much better
I don't know how the Bose feature works, or even whether or not it has one, but this feature is a killer. Basically the phones temporarily change to ambient noise mode so you can hear the surrounding. I don't suggest to use this when talking to people though. It might be rude to somebody.
To my ears these 3rd Gen Air pods are more comfortable compared to the newer Pro version with the soft gel tips. ruclips.net/user/postUgkxgl8SzyQoymMu-S3V55Dskg5QJ8xr1yCR That said, compared to the 3rd Gen, I notice these do not stay planted in the ear as well. One design issue I think, is you squeeze the stem and click it twice to advance your songs. On 3rd gen you tap the large speaker. The difference is by grabbing the stem each time, you tend to loosen the bud fit in your ear. Not always, but the bud falls out a few times while running. The old tap to change never had that problem for me. I would not have changed that tap function. That said, the newer Pro version sticks in the ear, almost airtight if you want that. I do not like that Airtight fit. So that's why I'd stay with this version as the best trade off of comfort, use, and overall feel.
The Beats were EASILY my best purchase! I use the premium box to rest my feet when I sit. (PS. I'm not sure why they included these plastic headwraps?)
So glad I bought the bose a few months back. Love the retro style and physical buttons. I honestly am not complaining about micro usb, since it charges quick enough and has a battery that can last you ages. I feel like with motion controls you could slip up on more easily.
Yea because they’re not really the same market. You can’t look at Bose which sells headphones for people who wear cargo pants and Sony who names their products after decepticons and say they’re comparable to beats which sells stylish easy to use headphones as a status symbol (which is actually a selling point) and the surface headphones are... there too. Idk what Microsoft is about
James Moores they advertise those features because that’s just the expectation of any headphones out there. Beats is a luxury brand and that’s the whole point. You wouldn’t compare a rolls Royce and a Ferrari and say the Phantom is bad bc it’s slower than the 458 despite being similar prices. You can argue people who buy luxury brands are wasting their money but that’s just a different thing.
@@yvng.kev998 beats simp fr fashion, get quality bitch fuck fashion, quality always comes first, but go ahead and rock ur beats which sound like my akg wired headphones that came with my s10

Beats headphones are one the most successful marketing scams in tech. How do they get away with selling something so overpriced? Yes, iPhones and iMacs are overpriced too but at least they have unique software that makes them different. Beats headphone quality could probably be matched by some chinese bluetooth headphones on ebay.
Because they are quality. I have the solo 3’s and they have lasted 1 year and still going strong! Bass is good and i make bass boosted music so, you tell me.
@@PulseBoosts I mean the video stated they felt cheap like 3 times. I have never owned any of the above headphones but I do not know a good reason why they would lie about them feeling cheap.
Wasn't even slightly surprised that Sony and Bose won this. They are both long term players in the audio game. Microsoft is new and Beats usually has overly aggressive bass. That was the only big surprise, beats having no bass???? Seriously?
@@westonharby165 Yeah, bose are known for having very flat sound. But they are extremely comfortable. I think the Sony sound much better, and are pretty close to bose in comfort.
@@westonharby165 imagine beats with less bass than bose, lol bose always sound boring, they're for older folks who have money, not rly for someone that apreciates music, sonys are much better in that regard, almost bought sony ones when they came out, but they didn't rly fit my usecase
I agree. Beats are trash and the one that I have (which I found on the ground at the park when Pokémon go just came out) and has the ear pads deteriorating. For anyone, using a cheap 20 dollar earphones would work wonders. An investment to an earphone or headset worth more than 90 dollars is a bad investment
Sony 1000 users here. Legit has been my best investment. I've never had a headphone last this long even tho one of my friends sat on them. Controls are easy after you get used to it, also they didn't show or maybe they didn't know that if you keep your hand over the side of the headphone so your music quiets down and then headphone starts its own mic listening to the outside. Also very quick charging. I charge them for like 10mins and lasts me a day and over. I've used both bose and sony one, they both are good but as they said, sony is bit more comfort, and bose has a but better noise cancelling. Just comes to personal preference after if you prefer techy sony are to go if you prefer simple and easy bose.
in reality, it depends on the manufacturer and build quality, HyperX Headsets are a great set of gaming headsets while Razer uses pure marketing strategies.
For anyone wondering, the sony's noise cancelling can be togged off while cupping your hand over the touch controls so if you need to turn it off (even if hooked up to the assistant) you can do it much easier than all the other brands since you don't need to toggle a switch or reach and find a button.
For the long detailed answer: YYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS, BEATS IS STILL SHIT.
Not really. Beats sound so much better now then in the past, they work great with other Apple products, they have great design, and they charge really fast. Beats have 40 hours of battery life and you can get 3 hours of battery life after only 5 minutes of charging. Even if you don’t like Beats, you have to admit that is pretty impressive.
I have Sony and i use it in my car on the way to work and casually at home. Car ride is like 30-40 minutes and casual use like an hour a day. I charge them once every two weeks.
Well, you guys have forgotten a few things about the Sonys. First, if you live in colder areas in close range to, or even sub zero degrees (Celsius that is) Sony's touch interface DOES NOT work. There are even a few cases when they activate random gestures, but occuring very rare. Then it would be great if you would have mentioned the gesture to cover the earcups with your hand, to let the microphone funnel all sounds through the speakers, letting you hear ambient sounds normally. Another thing you can do with Sony's headphones, is that you can set up different noisecancelling profiles, depending if you are walking, waiting, or travelling. If you live in colder areas with long cold periods, I would consider going for Bose. I am using the 1000-xm3 daily for 3 months now, recommending them to everyone.
@@anthonyknight170 It's a known problem. Mine has it as well, if it's snowing or stuff. After around 10-20 minutes outside the controls go a bit haywire, and I have to turn them off and connect them via 3.5mm. If you google it, you'll find plenty references to this. Still great headphones, but if you work outside in the winter, not ideal.
I havent had any issues in the cold for mine. But there are lots of people that seem to have them. As for general feel for them they are awesome. And the pressure of the noise canceling is a bit higher, but you wont notice it that much.
Ohh dude I disagree 100%. They're far from okay regardless of the price. Shit noise cancelling, cheap material, cheap button(they sound like "ka-ching" and it's uncomfortable), shit ear pads (and deformed because of how it folds), headband is like non existent, literally no swivel(our ears face slightly forward so it needs the swivel), and now the sound, the most important thing. The bass are more pronounced than the mids and highs, but it isn't necessarily bassy. It's just that the mids and highs don't have clarity. ZERO soundstage. Not even worth comparing to Bose and Sony, that's a disrespect towards them. Some people say they bought beats for the looks, let's be honest. They don't look good. Those cheap plastics and fake leather shows itself. If someone bought beats and they like it, hey good for you, I think that's great, not trying to be harsh. But I'd hate to see a person buy them without proper research and end with a disappointment, so here, this might help someone.
@@Akira-kd6us Hey man, curious as what you think about my recent pruchase. Ive had studio's first generation a couple of years ago and they kinda broke down on me after maybe 3-4 years of use. Screws falling out, plastic craking ... I thought it was normal as I was using them quite extensively and wasnt making the best of maintenance on them. Still sound wise they never stopped working really well. They were also my first pair of expensive headphones at the time. Yesterday I found some studio 3's for 90$. would you think it's worth it or should I have gone for a used pair of sony or bose ? I only saw those over 250$ (CAD)
@@nic514rocker I'd say even at that price point, the studio 3's are not worth the money. Soundpeats A6 is around 90$ CAD range but SMASHES the studio 3 in every aspect except for appearance which is extremely subjective. I won't tell you that you should've went with bose or sonys considering the huge jump in price, but if I were you, I went with the soundpeats. If I'm on a tight budget, the little improvement bose and sony has compared to soundpeats is not worth the price gap. If you came from studio 1's especially the one that came from monster(apple bought beats and sound quality declined imo), you might find the studio 3 lacking in clarity and overall sound quality. But hey, if you liked your purchase, I completely see no problem! We all have different ears and preferences so I respect that, what I said is just my honest opinion. Have a good day!
I have the Sony 900 and yeah, they're pretty awesome for the price and I've heard they are comparable to the 1000. The noise cancelling works great on planes and when you're trying to tune people out, and as a glasses wearer they're extremely comfortable.
Just recently got my pair of Bose QC35II headphones and couldn't be happier. During my own research I was struggling to come at any solid conclusion between these and the Sony WH-1000XM3's. It was a very tough call but eventually what drove me into Bose headphones were two things: long use comfort and the ability to be connected to two devices simultaneously. While Sony's are technically more advanced and packed with more features (usb-c, quickcharge, better mobile app) and it seemed that many like the more bass oriented sound of those headphones, I also read many comments and reviews from people who have used both, that when you use headphones long consecutive hours at a time, the comfort of Bose's headphones were pretty much always preferred over Sony's. And when I often use headphones through the working hours that was definitely a selling point for me. Another reason for me was the ability to listen my music from my personal phone while simultaneously be connected to my work phone and receive calls to that without having to remove my headphones or do any fiddly re-pair with my work phone and vice versa. Now it automatically pauses the music when I receive a call to my work phone and it seamlessly switches back to my personal phone after the phone call has ended and continues with the music. This may not be important to you but for me this is perfect. Third reason - while I didn't take it as a concern for me personally since I quite rarely use headphones outdoors - were the multiple reports of Sony's touch controls going haywire in cold temperatures. Meaning if you are outgoing person and live somewhere cold (e.g. Canada or Finland like I do) you cannot use your Sony headphones in near 0ºC temperatures or colder. Apparently Sony has admitted this issue and as far as I know they have no solution to it. Of course, your mileage may vary but that's definitely something to keep in mind when making decisions. Hopefully this can help someone else's decision making process. Cheers!
I'm wondering if the cold and/or moisture is causing the shorting of the touch controls? At least normal over-ear headphones can act sort of like earmuffs during the cold weather AND give you something enjoyable to listen to (if you're using Bose or anyone else, I guess?) In-ear headphones will do little to keep your ears warm during the cold or windy days. :) I personally own a pair of Bose noise canceling headphones that I had bought for a long plane trip and I'll tell you this, it made the trip so MUCH more enjoyable. Normal headphones just can't cut it in an airplane if you're trying to listen to music or watch something on your phone/tablet as far as ease of listening and long term listening. Just never use them when you're at the Doctor's office or you might not hear your name called! LOL!
I've used the older Sony MDR-1000X for quite a few years now and can't say I've noticed the issues due to the cold. It doesn't get that cold here often but there were a couple of weeks in the 0C to -5 C range (with a couple days close to -10C) during which I've had 0 issues due to cold alone, I can only assume the WH-1000XM3 are similar. One big potential outdoor issue to be aware of is rain and wet hoods of jackets. Wet hoods can trigger the capacitive sensor giving random inputs that are... quite inconvenient, but since I don't tend to walk long distances in the rain I consider it a non-issue in my use case (it also really seems to vary with how much this happens between my summer and winter jacket). I personally don't have a need for two connected devices at the same time of the Bose, but I must admit that it's a great feature to have. I've had a chance to borrow one for 3 days and get a feel for it, ended up with a slight preference for the Sony sound and a strong preference for its touch controls. But either pair of headphones would easily be good enough, what it comes down to is personal preference of the controls and if the two connected devices has a use case or not.
@@tokeeptrackofrandomsubs5899 What I've read so far is, that the cold weather problem is only with the newest XM3's. Older ones, the 1000X and 1000XM2 seems to be unaffected (moisture is a whole another matter). It seems that Sony did something differently on their newest model and that hasn't worked out perfectly. I have no idea about their testing procedures but hopefully they learn from this and test the next ones more thoroughly. Glad to hear that you are happy with your headphones though! :) And I agree that a lot of it is down to personal preference.
I've never had that issue with my 4 year old Sony 1abt (first model to use those touch/swipe control's) often used for sub zero long dog walks. Great point regarding your work/personal phone. I'd never considered that (no dual SIM phone?) . I thought it a bit of a pointless feature until reading your comment.

Linus already did a Sennheiser vs Bose video wich crowned the pxc as better on everything but the noice cancelling (since it was created by Bose so realistically no one can beat them there). PXC would beat any of those at 65% of the price at least in sound quality.

The app is also better. The Bose is way more comfortable The buttons are better then sony's touch Even with micro USB if you charge 15min you have at least 4 hours of battery (Sony's is better in this case) And I think that they look better.
They didn't even mention the microphone for environmental sound on the Sony's, which was odd I think Sony's interface is great, but it can trigger if laying down on them, my only complaint
Agreed that Sony sounds WAY better (though you need to turn on clear bass in the app). Bought both from best buy, returned the bose because it sounds tinny by comparison. Clarity and bass are both better on the Sony by leaps and bounds. Weirdly though it's very hard to tell the difference on the demo units in the store - probably the sample they play is crap. Buy both and return one, they have no restocking fee.
@CoDGplays Tried everything they had at best buy... all sounded like crap. Dunno if my phone just doesn't have enough juice to power the more premium headphones. Although I had a pair of AKG earbuds that came with my phone and those were craptastic as well.
14:14, you "don't think anyone would buy these for a couple hundred dollars then complain about the sound quality not being the best..?" That would be the exact reason I would complain..? If I am paying $350 for a headset I would expect that sound quality to be pretty damn good.
His point is that if you're one of those "audiophiles" that think they have super hearing, then you would probably be in a completely different price range.
Pssh. Only spending $350? For a sound device? You clearly don't deserve audio. Anything less than $45,000 and you should be glad they don't just send a Mime to slap you. Really now.

Finn Campeau same here! I don’t get why they get so much hate, I tried all three side by side and the beats studio’s seemed like they were the highest quality material and the best looking, they sound fantastic too. The gold and black ones are so badass!
I must say Sony’s touch interface is much more advanced than Linus says it is. The whole “cover the touchpad for ambient sound” is very useful and also swiping and holding can fast forward or rewind.
To be honest I was surprised, I own one of their first pairs for around $300 and I had to refill it with 3 AAA batteries all the time because I always forgot to turn them off (and no they were not wireless, it was just a 'feature', they didn't work without batteries and didn't have an automatic standby mode), they felt cheap with the plastic button that muted. And despite all of that they were really comfortable and packed serious sound quality. that was almost 10 years ago and I figured they would've only improved. Very disappointed and feels like wasted brand status or something.
But honestly though, the best pair of headphones Ive ever owned are Sony's MDR XB500, looked like I had a pair of truck wheels on either side of my head but they were magical, really want a remake of those.
I have beats and lemme say 2 things 1.) they seriously aren’t as bad as people make them out to be, I’m not exactly the best audiophile and I definitely wouldn’t call myself one but for how it performs it’s pretty good, nice bass, slightly above average noise cancelling (not crazy but above average) and a good performance 2.) I do agree, Sony is much better and I would’ve gotten them 100% but I was able to find the beats for 300 bucks (after tax) and the lowest I could find for Sony was roughly 420 (after tax) and I personally didn’t want to spend an extra 100 or so, so I decided to go with the beats. Imo I’d say Sony takes the cake in this discussion but please to those who hate, atleast acknowledge they aren’t awful headphones
Sennheiser has IMO the better sound over the 4 they show here, cost the least (particularly my wired PXC 480), noise cancellation is a bit behind the Sony (but I think it’s a trade off between cancellation and quality), Sony and Sennheiser PX550 have the best battery life (Sony with ANC is ~30 hr, PXC 550 up to 30 hr, PXC 480 in “active” mode lasts ~50 hours), Sennheiser’s earcups are more plush, deep, and ergonomic, Sennheiser’s earcups also hinge flat and fold compact. I’m grateful to the Sony’s because their noise cancellation saved me from headaches and ringing ears while I was at a very loud (100-102 dB) trade show, but I’ve had the Sennheiser’s longer and I love their sound quality and super battery runtime during long trips. I didn’t know Audio Technica made a noise cancelling travel headset, so I can’t make any comments.

I've had my QC 35's for over a year and I wear glasses. They're quite very comfortable with glasses. The only drawback is that when you try to push them on with the headphones already on, they get stuck on the cup behind your ear. Takes a slight adjustment but it's an edge case.
I tried one in the store where that feature is not even consistent, it will turn on and off even though my hand is still holding over the earcup which is sucks to the max
MUST READ! For Sony M3 and M2 and M1 owners with Android phones. You might or might not know this "hidden secret". First, your headphones are above and beyond the competition thanks to the LDAC Bluetooth codec which you need to manually activate in Android settings. (Second step is optional and NOT needed to activate LDAC) Second, activate Developer Mode on your phone (Google it) and go to Developer Options Bluetooth settings and select LDAC codec playback quality. There you will see Best Effort is set to default, change it to either 660 or 990 kbps and BOOM! Be prepared to hear your music at another level. (990 can get glitchy so 660 is best for stability) Unfortunately you will have to keep going to Developer Options every time you reconnect the headphones. Good luck!
These are Audiophile level headphones so also look into LOSLESS or FLAC audio files for the best level music. These are the original studio audio files before they were compressed for CD's.
Since when FLAC audio files are compressed for CDs ? It's the other way around, FLAC files are usually produced/ripped from CDs. Unless the FLAC files are produced higher than 16bit 44.1kHz CD format like the 24bit 96kHz FLAC files.

He mentioned in an older video that they would get a lot of comments of people saying they missed the old kitchen set, which was actually Linus' kitchen. So, once the money was right and they finally had their current studio, they built a kitchen set which is not a functional kitchen IIRC.
I’ve had my Sony WH-1000XM3 headphones for 1.5 years now. I considered the Bose, Beats, and MS headphones before I got them and the Sony’s were the only ones that had all the features I wanted. I’m so happy with them. They’re very comfortable, still the best noise canceling available, excellent sound quality, they’ve held up after using them almost everyday, and I really like the combination of touch and physical buttons (but that’s personal preference). If I got a new pair today I would still go with Sony. My wife has the new Bose 700 headphones and those are a close second but I just feel they are not as comfortable for long gaming sessions for example. IMO you can’t go wrong with either the Sony WH-100XM3 or the Bose 700.
But yeah, I learned my mistake when I bought my BeatsX, while I liked the magnetic that keeps the 2 buds together, I hated the sound quality. Sounded flat and while the bass wasn't awful, it was below average I think. I soon got the Jaybird X4 wireless earbuds, best thing I've ever bought.
Beats struggled in literally every type of headphone I tried from them even back until I bought Airpods and now Airpods Pro (because I move a lot and I need something small and compact but also with good noise canceling and such). I used those smaller ones that were the Bluetooth earbuds. It was nice for a while but had like barely any of the features and eventually just stopped working after a few months one way or another. Eventually we just settled on literally anything else.
11:49 James: "I think I kinda like the Sony..." You're completely right. ANC on the Sony's is the top of the current market. Bose might get close to the Sonys; but nothing in 2019 surpasses the WH-1000MX3.
@@ThePapabear2012 You really give sound to the Bose? My coworker has the QCII and I use Sony. When I tried his out, I was baffled at the difference in sound quality. The Sony is much richer and fuller, with deeper bass. Also, the Bose exert undue pressure when the noise cancelling is on. Maybe I just have sensitive ears, but I found it to be far less comfortable for that reason. With noise cancelling off, I would agree that Bose is slightly more comfortable than Sony, especially for long listening sessions. But it's no contest when it comes to sound quality.
@@ThePapabear2012I have owned both QC35II and 1000xm3, and the sony's are FAR better in the sound stage. 90% of all comparison videos agree on that. Bose is slightly better on comfort, and overall better on bluetooth and speaker quality. The sony's have better sound, ANC, charging time, battery life and functionality.
radiotryne I live in NYC and I bought the XM3 and I take the bus everyday, every time there was a bump the Bluetooth would bug out and the music would get all crackly. Had to return em after that
Couple of things they missed about Surface Headphones: 1) The music pauses when you remove them, kind of like the apple AirPods. Which is very useful when you start using it. 2) Seamless pairing and choosing between two connected devices. QC35s have this feature too. Can just say Ok google or Cortana to activate unlike every other where you have to long press the button. Just feels more natural and once you get used to it, can't go back. 3) Noise-canceling has different levels, so if you go all the way it is very good. They also have a feature where it can filter through voices only and block everything else which is very unique. I don't know if Linus knew about these or if they tested it or not. They are pretty good. Listen and try all of them through your own ears before buying since it's really subjective and a big investment for a lot of people.
Yeah, I feel like they (at least Linus) had their opinions decided before ever doing the video and then tailored the video around that. I don't disagree with their rankings, but to completely throw out the Surface Headphones just seems odd to me, they are honestly a great product.
I was baffled too with the video and lack of information these guys had about features. Dual pairing and automatic pause and play are good enough reason to buy these headphone over any other ones. Dual pairing is so useful especially for people like LMG who primarily work on PCs/MACs. As a Plus point you get actual physical buttons without making headphones cheap looking like Bose ones. And also USB Type C

Yeah, good style of video, enjoyed it!
It has its pros and cons, It leads me to believe that it was less though in which is better than the other "one person more professional review", but having another person also try them and just casually talk about them makes the review feel more natural (you can see their reactions).
Definitely good format, gives a real feel for both of their opinions
It’s surely more interactive but I would rather classify this video as entertainment rather than informative.

Wtf they missed the best part of the Sony interface... You can hold you palm over the right earcup to turn the music down and let ambient noise in. It's great to use of someone is trying to talk to you if you have your headphones on.
They also didn't mention the Surface headphones auto-pause when you take them off your head which realistically is even better
Idk i have the sony ones (XM2) and i have never used that in public.
It just feels dumb to do that, and i think its also more respectful to just take them off.
@@0M9H4X_Neckbeard the mx does have that feature, it also has the ambient setting which lets you hear people talking to you but it blocks the noise still

yeah they had some fire going on, like on 5:23
I spent a lot of time with both the Bose and Sony headphones trying to choose between them so I'll just go ahead and write my full hot take on them here. They were hard to choose between at first but after a lot of use the Sonys proved to be far superior.
Similar:
-Sound quality and noise canceling were pretty similar between them.
Bose victories
-The lack of physical buttons are my biggest complaint with the Sony.
Sony victories
-Included app: I feel obligated to put the app first because the Bose app triggers me so much.
I read it, and it was useful. Thanks!
@@WilcoVerhoef I forgot about this lol, glad it helped. Still using the XM3's.

You can do the same with Bose. rest your hand on ANY side of the headphone, lift and slide backward off your ear. Other benefit is that you don't look like you are being rude.
i think he understands it perfectly ;)@Kylie Jennertelia

Beats probably didn’t send you headphones because they knew you were gonna put them against good headphones and lose in every category
Yea because they’re not really the same market. You can’t look at Bose which sells headphones for people who wear cargo pants and Sony who names their products after decepticons and say they’re comparable to beats which sells stylish easy to use headphones as a status symbol (which is actually a selling point) and the surface headphones are... there too.

Are Beats headphones bad? I mean not necessarily "bad", they're definitely okay.
Are they bad for the price compared to competitors? Absolutely.

I personally own a pair of Bose noise canceling headphones that I had bought for a long plane trip and I'll tell you this, it made the trip so MUCH more enjoyable.
And I agree that a lot of it is down to personal preference.
Agreed imo comfort > everything
I've never had that issue with my 4 year old Sony 1abt (first model to use those touch/swipe control's) often used for sub zero long dog walks.
Great point regarding your work/personal phone. I'd never considered that (no dual SIM phone?) . I thought it a bit of a pointless feature until reading your comment.

MUST READ! For Sony M3 and M2 and M1 owners with Android phones. You might or might not know this "hidden secret".
First, your headphones are above and beyond the competition thanks to the LDAC Bluetooth codec which you need to manually activate in Android settings. (Second step is optional and NOT needed to activate LDAC)
Second, activate Developer Mode on your phone (Google it) and go to Developer Options Bluetooth settings and select LDAC codec playback quality. There you will see Best Effort is set to default, change it to either 660 or 990 kbps and BOOM! Be prepared to hear your music at another level. (990 can get glitchy so 660 is best for stability) Unfortunately you will have to keep going to Developer Options every time you reconnect the headphones. Good luck!
Which means these headphones are overclockable :o
These are Audiophile level headphones so also look into LOSLESS or FLAC audio files for the best level music. These are the original studio audio files before they were compressed for CD's.
Since when FLAC audio files are compressed for CDs ?
It's the other way around, FLAC files are usually produced/ripped from CDs.
Unless the FLAC files are produced higher than 16bit 44.1kHz CD format like the 24bit 96kHz FLAC files.

Couple of things they missed about Surface Headphones:
1) The music pauses when you remove them, kind of like the apple AirPods.

Rohan I’m pretty sure you can say hey Siri on the Bose .
@@AbhishekKumar-jd4pf not just dual pairing. Apparently you can connect upto 10 devices.
This is very interesting, and agreed the dual connection is why I love the Bose more than any other ANC set. I will have to check these out.
My favorite thing to do back in highschool, was to blow peoples beats out of the water with my 99$ Hd280's
And they all say the same thing lol "but these look better"
