Ahmednagar Fort
The Ahmednagar Fort is a fort located close to the Bhingar Nala near Ahmednagar in Maharashtra state western India. It was the headquarters of the Ahmednagar Sultanate. In 1803, it was taken by the British during the Second Anglo-Maratha War. It was used as a prison during the British Raj. Currently, the fort is under the administration of the Armoured Corps of the Indian Army.
The fort was built by Malik Shah Ahmed in 1427 CE. He was the first sultan of the Nizam Shahi dynasty and he built the fort to defend the city against invaders from neighbouring Idar. Initially it was made of mud but major fortification began in 1559 under Hussain Nizam Shah. It took four years and was finally finished in 1562. In 1596, Chand Bibi the queen regent successfully repulsed the Mughal invasion but when Akbar attacked again in 1600 the fort went to the Mughals.
Aurangzeb died at Ahmednagar fort at the age of 88 on February 20, 1707.After Aurangzeb’s death the fort passed to the Nizams in 1724, to Marathas in 1759 and later the Scindias in 1790.
अहमदनगरचा भुईकोट -
अहमदनगर किल्ला हा संपूर्ण महाराष्ट्र राज्यातील एक उत्तम रचनेचा किल्ला आहे आणि महाराष्ट्रातील भिंगार आणि अहमदनगर जवळ भिंगार नदीच्या काठावर हा किल्ला आहे. हा किल्ला हुसेन निजाम शाह यांच्या संरक्षणाखाली बांधला गेला. अहमदनगर किल्ला सर्व बाजूंनी छावणीने वेढलेला आहे आणि अहमदनगर शहराच्या पूर्वेकडील भागात आहे.
१५ व्या शतकाच्या शेवटी, इ.स. १४८६ मध्ये तत्कालीन बहामनी राज्याचे पाच तुकडे झाले. त्यामधून फुटून निघालेल्या मलिक अहमदशहा बहिरी या निजामशहाने मे, इ.स. १४९० मध्ये सीना नदीकाठी पूर्वीच्या भिंगार शहराजवळ नवीन शहर वसवण्यास सुरुवात केली. याच्या नावावरूनच या शहराला अहमदनगर असे नाव पडले. इ.स. १४९४ मध्ये शहर रचना पूर्ण होऊन अहमदनगर निजामशहाची राजधानी बनले. या शहराची तुलना त्या काळी कैरो, बगदाद या समृद्ध शहरांशी केली जात असे.
अहमदशहा, बुर्हाणशहा, सुलताना चांदबिबी यांची कारकीर्द असणारी निजामशाही येथे इ.स. १६३६ पर्यंत टिकली. मोगल बादशहा शाहजहानने इ.स. १६३६ मध्ये अहमदनगर काबीज केले. इ.स. १७५९ साली पेशव्यांनी अहमदनगरवर ताबा मिळवला, तर इ.स. १८०३ साली ब्रिटिशांनी अहमदनगरवर विजय मिळवला.
अहमदनगरजवळचा हा भुईकोट किल्ला हा हुसेन निझामशाह यांनी इ.स. १५५३ साली बांधण्यास सुरवात केली. चांदबिबीने जुलै इ.स. १६०० मध्ये युद्धात किल्ला लढवला. परंतु मोगलांनी तो जिंकला. इ.स. १७५९ साली पेशव्यांनी मोगलांकडून विकत घेतला. इ.स. १७९७ पेशव्यांनी शिंदे घराण्याच्या ताब्यात दिला. १२ ऑगस्ट इ.स. १८०३ ला तो इंग्रजी सत्तेसाठी जनरल वेलस्लीने जिंकला.
इ.स. १९४७ ला किल्ला भारत सरकारच्या सैन्यदलाच्या ताब्यात देण्यात आला.
इ.स.१४९४ साली अहमदशहाने अहमदनगर शहराची स्थापना करुन तेथे आपली राजधानी वसवली.
