Great tutorial! Thanks for the demo. I'm going to try your sheets! I've noticed wooden stamps making a revival in the card making companies. I always loved the artwork aspect of them; much more satisfying than an acrylic sheet! Storage is an issue.
Yes, wood stamps are certainly a storage consideration. They're beautiful to use and really incorporate a different kinesthetic experience when handing natural materials like wood but, yes, pretty bulky by comparison (to unmounted).
So Kevin I want to purchase your stamps.....which do you recommend the plain rubber or the cling foam and why?? This is an investment purchase and I want to get it right the first time :) THANKS!!!!
Hi. The impressions for any incarnation of stamp will be exactly the same so it comes down to personal preference and/or value for the $. With plain rubber, one can get more for their money and stamps take up less space as far as storage goes. Some don't like the feel of plain rubber as much as they do with cushion. Personally, I don't miss having cushion on my stamps that aren't mounted. I've always stamped on a little pile of blotter/copy paper and that's always provided me with a little cushion anyway. So, again, it comes down to what one might like or what one can get used to if they've been doing something else. I thought it would take me a while to get used to bare rubber after stamping with wood mounted stamps for 20 years but it took me about 2 minutes of using Tack N' Peel and acrylic blocks with the unmounted stamps.
Thank you! I really appreciate the CLEAR descriptions you offer us for stamping success.
Glad it came in handy Martha!
