I learned about this band maybe a couple of months ago when my colleague randomly put their vinyl on a record player in a shop where I work, and ever since then I can't quite get them out of my head. Wonderful album, it's such a shame they didn't get to make more.
Also on the insert of the vinyl I found the lyrics to the songs, so if anyone wanted them (I sure did lol), here they are, with the original spelling preserved.
    Blue Gardens
    Why this dream
    This dream of fortune
    I’m a victim of reality
    Why the thrill
    Of what might happen
I have now, not what’s to be
    Why the urge
    To tame the future
I can hardly bare the past
    Why deny
    There’s a presence
I’ll be free, free at last
I coloured all my garden blue
But there’s one thing you should know
I’ve planted all my dreams for you
In blue gardens they will grow
    Blue, blue, blue gardens
    Blue, blue, blue gardens
    Fraction of a Second
    There was a certain distance
We walked on and stayed silent
I saw footprints and was glad
But we circled our own island
    There was the biggest ocean
    And every time we turned
    The water was more massive
And our backs were more burned
    The fraction of a second
The luck for which we pay
    That’s what we must cherish
Not the ages which are grey
    There was a clear decision
    We should take separate paths
But instead of two hearts beating
We found one beat in two hearts
    The fraction of a second
The luck for which we pay
    That’s what we must cherish
Not the ages which are grey
    Poison
    The city’s dead and dark
    Shadows fill the streets
A cat cries in the silence
    Of falling rain that eats
    The buildings that surround us
    Monuments of life
    How cruel the slow destruction
    Nothing will survive
    The landscape’s dead and dark
No birds to fill the trees
It seems there’s no escape from
    The sight of dying leaves
    That fall into the water
    In which no creature swims
    Along the shore the houses
Meant for people to live in
The mind is dead and dark
    And worrying fills the days
    There’s no joy in counting
    The many, many ways
    We poison all that lives
    How scrupulous we are
Whatever makes us bare the guilt
    Of having gone so far
It Started When the Rain Came
I hope this time it stays
    I won’t go back
    My mind’s a better place
    I must forget
    All of those bitter lies
    I took for real
I should have closed my eyes
    See what I feel
    Where has the colour gone
    It all turned white
I’m told what’s right or wrong
    I miss the light
The sun that burned the leaves
    Fried up their veins
    This season is a thieve
    I take the blame
It started when the rain came
    It started with the rain
It started when the rain came
    It started with the rain
    We all play different games
    I count the walls
And give each one a name
    I know them all
    Here I sit and cry
    Tears no one sees
    They’re a bitter lie
    Like autumn-leaves
It started when the rain came
    It started with the rain
It started when the rain came
    It started with the rain
    Waterland
    There’s nothing but
    A spider dancing
    In lost summers
    Before dawn
    Spring awoke at
    August’s ending
    Silver threads handed
    The new-born
    There’s nothing worse
    Than pieces missing
    In the puzzle
    Time has built
    An empty web for
    The wind to play with
    Like a dream
    Left unfulfilled
    Understand
    I want to leave
    This waterland
    Understand
    I want to leave
    This waterland
    Wordporridge
    The talk, the talk
    The strangling talk
    Wordporridge
    The flow of words
    The endless search
    Wordporridge
    Wordporridge
    Nothing left to be said
    There’s only space to fill
    It’s forgiving I forget
    And that’s overkill
    The sad goodbye
    No talk, no lie
    Wordporridge
    Wordporridge
    Wordporridge
    Wordporridge

Very good band! I know them I was on a concert in the 80's in Holland (haarlem). To bad the band stopped, because the keyboard player died. He fell of the stairs while he was carrying his synthesizer . "Waterland" is the best song. together with "blue gardens" good memories come alive again.
