LA Clippers vs Oklahoma City Thunder 104-105: final minute | 2014 playoffs game 5

  • In a game where Oklahoma City Thunder made a huge comback, coming back from 15 down, I think what most will remember is the controversy about the refs decisions in the final minute. The calls were very inconsistent IMO, Clippers got screwed by the inconsistency and have a right to complain about it. Still, they had a big enough lead to mainly blame themselves for the loss itself. Los Angeles Clippers - Oklahoma City Thunder 104-105

Revelation 1:8 says that Jesus is the alpha and the omega. Luke and revelation is the ending times, and Jesus is returning back. So are you going to submit your life to him or no? The NBA would beg to differ lol..."OKC leads series 3-2". I don't understand why people act like NBA refs are reliable people, doesn't anybody remember Kobe basically punching Mike Biby in the conference finals in 2002 (I believe)...Lebron James fouling Kevin Durant on a game tying shot at the end of Game 2 in the 2012 NBA finals...Chris Paul fouling Stephen Curry just last series...How many pictures of officials looking right at Lebron James stepping outta bounds and not making the call do we need for people to understand these guys cant be trusted. They got robbed? Absoutely, but guess what it's not the end of the world, there are so many teams victim out there lol This is one of the reasons people want home court so bad. Now they can stay stuck in the past thinking "We would have closed this series in LA...this is so unfair" or they can just get over it and kick OKCs ass in LA. Coz OKC is elated right now, best believe theyll be looking to close this series in LA...so the clippers better dust themselves off and get ready for Game 6

    • @SerlingPictures
      @SerlingPictures 10 лет назад +74

      Based on NBA rules, it's OKC's ball. Barnes made contact with Jackson's hand as ball is going out, making it OKC's ball.
      Paul touched Westbrook's elbow on the shot=foul.
      Paul turned it over.
      Clippers lost the game.

    • @annog840
      @annog840 10 лет назад

      I agree with you completely, but people don't seem to understand that...so I was speaking from a clipper perspective. They need to get over it and get ready for the next game coz OKC is not feeling sorry for them...they will be looking to close this series next game, so the clippers cant go into that game still crying about what they think shouldn't have happened last game

    • @dustinwright6091

      Even if you think these last few calls were bad, there were plenty of calls throughout the game that also were questionable. If Westbrook wasn't fouled on that 3, neither was Jamal Crawford or Chris Paul on their 3s earlier in the game. Stephen Adams and Serge Ibaka were called for phantom fouls in the 4th quarter also. In game 4 Blake Griffin fouled out twice in the 4th quarter, but none of these were called. Bad calls go both ways during the entire game.

    One of the greatest games I've ever attended and I've seen a LOT of great ones being an Oklahoma State fan including another Durant game... OSU vs Texas in 2007, triple OT. OSU won 105-103, it was Durant (38 points) vs Mario Boggan (37 point & 20 rebounds).

    Yes it was Clippers ball, but there is a clear foul also, so the two mistakes cancel each other. The main thing here is that Chris Paul totally lost his mind, I mean one of the biggest melt down of all time.

    • @IvoryNerva
      @IvoryNerva 8 лет назад +18

      +Gabriel Moors Paul made either one or two mistakes: the final play where they don't get a shot was clearly one, then the turnover I'm not sure of because it looks like there was a good chance he was fouled on that steal (angle is bad and TNT didn't replay it properly). Overall there was definitely some home team reffing going on for calling that foul on Westbrook's three. That was utterly without merit, especially in a late game playoff situation.
      I don't think Paul messed up that bad considering he made a clutch jumper with 50 seconds left in the game and the refs screwed him on either one or two calls.

    As NBA fans its sad to see that the referees and the NBA organization fail to understand that we are the people who pays their pay checks and sponsors. If coaches and players can be fined for the mistakes they make then why can't the refs and the organization be fined as well. We understand that refs are human, and mistakes can be made, but we don't understand why a call can't be corrected if there is a replay! [Looks one sided]

    This was bad officiating but it wasn't "rigged". Why the hell would the NBA want a tiny market team to defeat a big market one from LOS ANGELES? It was the refs not having a good angle on some plays and giving the benefit of the doubt to the home team. Studies have shown its human nature for the refs to favor home teams in all sports, people subconsciously don't want crowds to hate them.

    Rule 8 Section II - c of the NBA rulebook states:
    If a player has his hand in contact with the ball and an opponent hits the hand causing the ball to go out-of-bounds, the team whose player had his hand on the ball will retain possession.
    There are two ways this is being interpreted on social media right now. One side of the argument is saying that since Jackson had both hands on the ball, Barnes slapping one of the hands and the ball going out of bounds is within the rule for the Thunder retaining possession of the ball. It doesn't matter which hand is being hit because both were in contact with the ball, regardless of him being in the process of transferring the ball strictly to his right hand.
    Clippers didn't get robbed. Just a choke job.

      I hate the refs sometimes as much as the next guy, but give them a break their job is very hard with all of the floppers. There was a call during the Blazers r1 series where Harden took a jump shot, kicked his leg out and fell down making it look like Matthews touched him, but in replay you could see that Matthews jumped to the side to avoid contact all together, but of course refs can't reverse calls and Harden got 2 free shots in a game that went to OT. That's exactly what the refs are afraid of, and every call they make is arguable since every player acts like they got shot after a play.

    1) Barnes clearly fouled Jackson on the play.
    2) There is a rule that was mentioned after the game that if a player hits another player"s hands and knocks the ball out of bounds, it goes to the team who possessed the ball before it went out of bounds.
    3) The call on the floor was Thunder ball, so the replay would have to be "conclusive" to overturn that. If you think that video is conclusive - I question your ability to be unbiased.
    4) Jackson probably fouled CP3 at the end.
    That's my take.

      Your point #2 is false. There might be a rule that says that, but if you watch the NBA, you've seen that replays don't work like that idk why for some reason they never follow that rule. If your hand was the last one to touch it, it's not your ball. In a regular season game it would've been clipper ball.

      I could be wrong, but to me it looks like Barnes only touched Jackson's left hand causing Jackson to lose some balance, but then it clearly seems to go off Jackson's right hand due to poor ball control from Jackson. Looks like he's switching to his right hand and then suddenly decides to just lose the ball.
      Should've obviously been a foul called on Barnes though, but when you don't you can't make up for it by giving OKC the out of bounds -_-

    • @proeraxjordan8349
      @proeraxjordan8349 10 лет назад

      That's true, just because you didn't call foul doesn't mean you could make up for it, instead of being 2 free throws with more time on the clock for the clippers it was 3 free throws and 6 seconds left

      @josephchan1629 10 лет назад

      Hitting the hand is legal because the hand is considered part of the ball. This was taken from the nba site: "The hand is considered “ part of the ball” when it is in contact with the ball and contact with a players hand when it is in contact with the ball is not a foul."

      the only bad call in the clutch of this game was the ball going to OKC after it went out of bounds off of Reggie Jackson. And that wouldn't have been an issue if Paul didn't turn the ball over in the first place
      he clearly fouled Westbrook on the 3
      projectshanks.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/Chris-Paul-Russell-Westbrook-foul.jpg
      and they're not going to call a little touch on the arm with a playoff game on the line when Paul turned it over on the game-winning attempt. that's a standard no call in that situation
      Paul was outplayed by Westbrook for the overall series and the clutch moments of Game 5 which eventually decided the series. That is the main reason they lost

I absolutely laughed at that one because Isiah could get his whenever he so chose, Paul can't get his shot off unless he takes 20 seconds off the shot clock running 4 pick and rolls in one possession and the defense just inexplicably leaves him open. I feel like you shouldn't handle the ball as much as he does unless your a constant threat to score the ball, which obviously he's not.

    As a Clipper fan I can see that there are only a few players that play for the love of the game and for their fans, and that is :Blake Griffin, DeAndre Jordan, Jamal Crawford, and Matt Barnes. Even though people say that Doc Rivers is a good coach he fails to understand that Jamal Crawford should be in the game, especially in the 4th quarter. He has been consistent with that lately but why didn't he do it this last game[Game 6], this shows me as a fan that Doc wanted to lose that game. I don't know what happened? I have been a Clipper fan since Doc was playing for them.[What happened?]

    The very last place, Reggie Jackson smacks cp3 on the arm causing him to lose the ball. That's fked up no call.

    Clippers fans are whining about not getting calls after being up by 15 points. Rest of the league is watching and saying "ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME?" Happened in the Warriors game last night too Clippers fans shed their tears all over the internet. Zbo from the Grizzlies was asked if Miami was the biggest floppers in the league he laughed and straight away said "nope its the LA Clippers". Memphis fans chanting flopper whenever blake shoots freethrows in the one playoff series. David Lee going to Blake face to face telling him to stop flopping. People all over getting into fights with these pricks for flopping. And they have the nerve to whine about a couple calls?
    YOU GOTTA FUCKING KIDDING ME.
