The rarest kind of Harley?

Very true. That's why I've never messed with mine.
T Rev no the rarest kind is one that actually runs reliably!!!
@@gastondraco5906 mine runs reliably.

Guy: *names one thing*
Corey: *tells him all about it*
Hvnter Wade 🤣
Well he tried to tell him about it. He doesn't know crapola unfortunately.
They always do this, someone comes in with a work of an unknown painter and Rick perfectly sums up the life and career of said painter. They have a team of people looking for items to do on the show, Corey had writers to work out what he should say.
@@pflaffik I know man it's just funny
It's not what you think it's worth,it's what someone is willing to pay.
Exactly!
That’s only true to a certain extent the market will dictate what something is really worth
There is always someone that will pay you more. Someone will think it’s cool and worth more or someone wants it for parts to put an original bike back together. I’ve had something listed for sale for a few years before it sold to get what I wanted.
@@bingevintage8124 yeah not true for custom stuff. There is no market value for items that are one of a kind it’s all a guess. There is a market value for a 2005 Harley, a 2015 Honda, a pair of headphones because they aren’t one of a kind. 199 people could come look at this bike and only offer 5-6k but then the 200th person comes along and wants this bike because his dad built one similar when he was a kid and is willing to pay whatever for it, this guy might not know anything about bikes me might just look up what an original 57 is going for seeing they are 25k and think 15k for this bike is a steal or he just doesn’t care about the price he just needs it for the sentimental value. The only thing the market really has any effect on custom one of a kind vehicles is if that vehicle is in style
At the time if that style bike is demand it will sell quickly for good money if it’s not in style it will take longer to sell and generally for less money but again there is always someone out there looking for what ur selling and willing to pay for it you just have to wait for it to happen.
I’m in the car business and even though when buying ur regular cars that anyone can search the values of people still over pay in retail settings. I know a customer that bought a 2010 Ford ranger a few months ago for $12,500 from a used car dealer that’s just insane money. One of my friends paid $4,500 for the same truck 3 years ago from a private person, so they paid 8,000 less and the truck. Was 3 years newer. When people buy vehicles retail from dealers they always pay more and when they are using a loan people get really stupid because they just sign for it and make payments. I don’t have my used car lot anymore but I know one of the banks I did business with would give a loan on this bike and I know that if it was put in the front line of a used car lot in the beginning of the year someone would buy it for a good 12k
@@peanutbutterisfu I didn’t say anything about customs only you brought that up
Let me get my buddy to come down here he’s behind that cameraman eating a Snickers bar
You don’t mod a classic Harley. Poor guy completely destroyed the value.
hitandrun117 poor guy he didn’t even mod it he just got tricked by the guy who did and payed way too much so it’s more poor guy got duped by previous owner
Nice EBAY springer front end
hitandrun117 previous owner got him good.
When it was done it was just an old bike and made it worth more probably
It wasn't the owner that modded it genius. All he did was add a few bolt ons.
I always feel like Corey's knowledge is a 5 min wikipedia search.
Not when it comes to bikes. He's got a nice collection.
They all have to have a quick search. Do you really think they know all these facts over all the different objects they get in their store.
It's a t.v. show! They are paid to make all their stupid stories of history... It's called reading scripts
It’s definitely very basic from google search
Don't remember asking tho
Corey: so what do you have here?
Seller: it’s a 1957 Harley Davidson motor in a custom-built motor trolley
Are we not going to talk about how the sellers name is Harley😂
Thats what I came down here for 👌😅
Plot twist - His last name is Davidson...
@@rt-bs5hz plot twist his dad's name is David
The problem with modded anything is that not everybody has the same tastes, it drops the value way more then people think it does because it forces a seller to find a buyer that either loves it as it sits, which is rare, or somebody that's willing to put money into it to get it where they want it which means they aren't willing to spend a lot initially on it.

@@urabampot Wow, bravo correcting grammar on an 8 month old post. Feel better now? LMAO
@@NavyGuy2OO7 Only morons get offended at being corrected. "LMAO"
There's a few other issues with your paragraph also. It appears you added a double space after the word "a lot" near the end of the paragraph. Also, you need to break the paragraph up into separate sentences as it's quite a long sentence. For example, you could've added a period after the words "same tastes" but you failed to do so. The length of the sentence just makes it awkward. Also, LMAO in your subsequent comment is not a real word. Very disappointing. Do better next time, good sir.
Don't you just love how guys modify their bikes then expect to get what they put into them and more....?
What I hate more is the folks (owner) who care NOTHING about the crap they got sitting in their own yard for 35 years, then when somebody shows an interest in it, they (owner) thinks it is worth top dollar, when it now needs four times as much money just to get it running again and ignore the fact it will take four years to even get it road legal again!! A situation I seem to constantly run into around my area!!
Owner wants $32,000 for a car that has sat in the woods, sunk into the ground for 30 years, and now it needs $200,000 worth of parts and labor just to reclaim it as a "car" or a "vehicle" to start with!! BUT because the guy saw one on Jackson Barrett Auction last week sell for $40,000 he automatically thinks his is worth nearly the same price!! He ignored the fact that the Jackson Barrett car actually RUNS and you could license it tomorrow!
@@gregbenwell6173 what car needs 200000 k worth of parts to fix that isn't gonna be worth close to 500k done.
@@bmxriderforlife1234 The phrase "and labor." The expertise and time to rebuild a car when just about the only thing remaining is the VIN plate is very valuable and expensive. If you were to pay someone else to do a full restoration it would be pricey but a lot of people have a lot of those skills themselves and can spend their own labor and time to rebuild it because its something they enjoy doing.
@@jth_printed_designs you missed my point.
@@bmxriderforlife1234 No, I didn’t. I guess you just didn’t understand plain English.
Someone can put $200,000 worth of parts AND LABOR into a car for it to end up being a $50,000 car. People regularly work on their projects and actually lose money if they put an appropriate dollar amount on their labor
The guy knew it was not the stock frame and tried to get away with it 😂

Felt Bad for the Guy with Harley that thought it was worth $15k, but the expert has a point original things are worth more since they’re the way they came out of the production line.
You don’t lie by saying its stock, when the title says, “Special Construction”, The owner knew the actual '57 stock Harley, price too (25K to 30K), as its listed… coming down from 15K to 7K in few seconds, proves he lied to begin with and perhaps the walking stick was a sympathy gainer ploy…
Lol you do know this show is all scripted and they know the price way before they start recording....
@@aceeoutlaw554 it's not scripted, dont say that...you lie
@@eldorado1244 No, it actually is scripted. It is public knowledge. Look it up.
Good point. The walking-stick was his excuse to sell what would have been a $20-$30K bike for $7-15K.
True, he was trying the hustle coz he can't sell it private
I like how it long it took for them to figure the frame was stretched, that was one of the first things that I caught and I’ve never done any kind of work on a Harley and know absolutely nothing about classic bikes or even modern for that fact.
Yeah, I dont have a lot of experience with Harley's myself, but could instantly tell the frame was modified.
"that's a stock frame"
"It's registered as a 57 with a modded frame"
Worth $6K
_"I would do $7K."_
Love how Rick and the gang get accused of low-ballin' customers. But no one talks about these delusional sellers who want over what their items are worth, even after getting them appraised.
Getting them appraised by "planted, all-knowing buddies".
I would buy the bike for $7k right away if you ask me. These bikes don’t come around very often in this condition, also he has the title (title is not clean, but most of these 1957 bikes you see on the market don’t come with title at all, so I consider it was a plus).
their buddies won't be entirely honest they may appraise some things higher but they won't say the real value i bet if he bought that for 2.5k he'd have it up for sale at 15k.
Also who goes to a pawn shop thinking they can get top dollar for anything?
Rick gives wayy better offers than regular pawn shops do
Not my cup of tea. The 1957 Sportster was a beautiful bike out of the factory, it's a shame someone modified this one.
That bike should have been titled to the engine only. 1969 and older sportsters were titled to the engine only. There was no VIN on the frames. That’s really weird.
Personally, I like that style of bike. It's an awesome little bar hopper. And $25 to $35 can be gotten around me often.
I didnt sell the bike today so I'll probably just put it in a frame and hang it on my wall.
Better than some of the jokes on here
Brilliant
That's exactly what I would do before I gave it away! Pawn shops are rip-offs!
@@james44mag31 No, pawn shops are pawn shops. Don’t expect auction prices at a pawn shop.
Yeah but then he's gotta pay for framing and it's gonna sit around for a while.

Ya black is easy to ride and attracts more females by its looks
That's actually true 🤷♂️

Whoever built it had the great idea of putting an impaling Spike in perfect alignment with your spine!
Feel sorry for him, It's a really nice ride he will be able to find a buyer around 6-7k just be patient.
Yeah, but it's been modified to the point where it's no longer a '57 Harley. The original and all it's collectibility is gone.
with inflation he can probably get that now
Nothing “unique” about that bike, if it were stock, THAT would be unique. He thought he was gonna snow those guys LOL.
An unfortunate set of circumstances for the owner.
He's a con man
"So this is it huh"
"Do you mind if I take a look at it"

Why expect retail from a pawn shop?
Its scripted, secondly Rick is a collector worth millions

Corey's 'expert' is no doubt getting a nice kickback on every bike he knocks down.
The guy said he bought it one year ago. He added XYZ, so I was surprised with his counter offer of 7k.
my first Harley was a 57 sportster on a stock frame with a weld on hardtail chrome engine springer and a 16" rear wheel and a flat steel fender. I paid 2K for it in 1981, no battery, magnito and a custom $1600 paint job... I put a dual disc stock lowrider front end and sold it for $1830 after I rode the crap out of it for 5 years... this old time is dreaming at 15K pawn shop was right in line at 2K
I like how the truth comes out about the bike once the authenticator comes out
So the motor is practically all that's original?
All that modification work & money for nothing... SAD.
Unfortunately people don't realize once you start customizing something, you're not going to get back what you put into it. Any motorcycle enthusiast would know not to modify a classic Harley.
$2500 is still steep for a motor and rear wheel, but a ton of OE style bits and pieces are still available. Shame it got butchered.BTW Corey the first unit construction H-D was the K Model in 1952. Same bike with a side valve 750 CC top end from the good ol' 45's

It's seems like who ever worked on the bike probably saved the original parts for himself and gave the guy this bike knowing the customer wasn't knowledge about bikes
15k the guy is totally delusional. But $2,500 is downright insulting. Bike is 5-7k to the right guy. Screw the pawn shop list it & be patient.
Its their offer. Its a take it or leave it situation.
Heart broken after knowing that almost all new parts
If you put an S&S carb and electronic ignition on it, it'll be a one kicker. Three when mine is cold. The first two is switch off, two pumps on the throttle, and it wets the cylinder. Then, switch on, she fires. That's with 10:1 compression and Andrews Y cams. It starts better with the 10:1 than stock. Cause it hits.
It does have an S&S, but it looks like an Old Super B, which is a good carb, but better for Big Bikes. Super E is better on Ironheads. And make sure the valves aren't tight. If you don't hear them, they're tight. You can tell an Ironhead without looking. Mine is a very dependable bike. Had it since 91.
The look that he gave Corey when he said $2500. Hes lucky rick would've said $900 taking into consideration the auction fees.
And let’s not forgot he has to frame it and put it up on the wall
@@LVGRCCrawlers and he's taking all the risk. In fact, the seller should probably give Rick 500 bucks just for looking at it.

Corey really doesn't need a expert he buys and sells bikes all the time he should know all about the prices
Right. Because he is a motorcycle aficionado.
That doesn’t mean he knows everything boss 😂😂😂
I would love to know what it went for at auction. At some point it’s value comes down to a cheap packing case for a 57’ engine and box?
The appraisal guy didn’t know what he was talking about. Of course it’s not stock. It’s a custom chopper and an incredibly cool one at that!
What a bunch of dopes.
It's still about 2 grand, not 15, plus a jockey shift on a sporty?
Custom and Chopper decrease value. Sorry but that's the way the market works
When you personalize a motorcycle it's hard to sell.

That bike has travelled 10s of thousands of miles just to get low balled by Corey
The customer was high-balling.

I honestly thought the experts price was higher than it needed to be. The only thing original was the motor and even it was Frankenstein'd out.
I think if i hear them say let me have a buddy of mine come take a look at it, i snap, THAT IS NOT MY BUDDY! that is your Budd...
"You mind if I take a look at it" as he's standing right there apparently not looking right at it already
Soon as that “expert” called the top tube a “back bone” I would have told him to get lost. Guy doesn’t have a clue.
I wouldnt have modded the bike. Would have appreciated that collectors would want to preserve it. The original wouldnt have done it for me so I probably would've gotten involved in some horse trading. That being said, I have a 57 ironhead that is a 9' wheelbased, hardtailed, springer frontend I found already started. Still running the magneto. Temperamental bike but boy do I love it. This bike on the vid was nice. I'd been into buying it around 3 or 4k.

First HD with the motor and trans together... What about the K models??? CR Axtell brought the Ks up to speed with his work on the ports. and they were real fast.
Old Harleys , the only bike that would make you’re balls and hands numb in 2 miles !! You had to carry a bucket to pick up the parts falling off !!!
Nice bike. He'll do alot better at auction.I love it!
$2500 sounds about right.
Cory says Ironheads were the first time H-D mated the Engine and transmission, but they did that with the "K- model" that ran from 1952-1956, Also, by no means am I an expert, but every Ironhead I've ever seen in real life had a rectangular notch in the middle of the rockerboxes. I'd really love it if there was a follow-up show that touched base with all of the unsatisfied customers to see if they actually do go somewhere else and get more money.
Good call on the K-Model! The first year for the Sportster notched rocker box was ‘71. Imho, that machine is a parts bike on wheels; a 2.5k wholesale price is reasonable.
They have lots of expert buddies 😁

First the dude says it's a stock frame(LOL), then goes on to say it's a modified frame. Get your story straight man!
I think it looks awesome
Sometimes Stock is more valuable than any mod.

There’s a massive price drop for every item
Yeah my first motorcycle was a stock ninja 300 2013, and I brought it because it was stock. 2nd hand too with 3700 miles on it. People want stock bikes. Not modded ones.
I love when customers starts to get defensive and pull the “Not True...I don’t think so card” when their items are not worth a lot or what they’re looking for 😂 Always Acting like they know more & better than the expert 😂😂
Also the expert in this case is paid by the show and he's there to low-ball the customer so the pawn shop can rip off the customer. I wouldn't give to schitts about what an expert has to say! If you know your bike you know what you're selling.
