    I mean, of course she is going to sound kind of tired in some of these, because no matter how good your technique or training is, singing songs of this kind of difficulty this repeatedly is going to "rust" your voice a little bit. Nevertheless, she is a goddess and she has been able to still pull it off over the years.

    when i was playing elle, i realised when you’re really putting everything into the performance (as Laura did every single time she went on stage) the vocals can really suffer. i could nail this song during every rehearsal but when it came to performing, you have so much fun and are so focused on performing that you don’t have time to prepare yourself for *that* note. for her to perform the role this well and put this much energy into it AND keep the vocals at this level is so freaking impressive. mad respect.

      There's a saying that a theatre director I have worked with for years has, and I'm sure he got it from elsewhere: Rehearse the way you'll perform and perform the way you rehearsed. Roles like Elle Woods are the reason this saying exist. You put as much as you can into your rehearsals and you won't have any issue once you get to performances.

      There are more out there, if you look up shows toward the end of her run, or when she went on as a temporary replacement in the national tour. By then they'd lowered the key half a step, but you can still hear a lot of strain in her voice, and she rushes through a lot of the notes (not just the last one). I wish they had written her a different ending or lowered the key earlier when it became apparent it was frying her voice. Or, idk, pre-record it like the Phantom note. I think it really took a toll on her.

    I personally think the brilliance in her performance shines best not on that last prolonged note but rather on that angered-with-eagerness note in the third "I am so much betTER". on 2:13 Her emphasis non the beTTEEERRR note gives Elle Woods such a character turning point!
    Also ironically in terms of hat last note, her best attempt was at the SF tryout where her shoe flew off!
    P.s. she also was fierce in that in the alley performance

      The point of this video is to show any fluctuations. No offence, but perhaps your ears are just not as pitch sensitive. They were definitely wrong to my ears. Colin Morris it’s interesting to see sort of how a song goes from concept to production, at the musical direction side of it. Perhaps you sing it once in a rehearsal setting it sounds fine and feels good. But then you have to do it with the rest of the show 8 times a week. (And you can’t live on vocal rest. If it’s a new show, you’re doing press interviews and talk shows and whatnot)

    I’m curious. Where is your intro song from and why did you call your channel this? Ahah thanks

    • @MisterGolightly
      @MisterGolightly  3 года назад

      From Breakfast at Tiffany's. It's Moon River sung by Audrey Hepburn (who plays the lead) and composed by the great Henry Mancini! I'm just a big fan of the movie, and Audrey's character name was Holly Golightly. So I wasn't calling myself "Holly Golightly" but I didn't wanted any name to be following "Golightly" That's when I came up with 'Mister' (even though I was 15 lol) It was kinda a wink to the movie. Btw, I adore Audrey Hepburn so that helped! Xx

    2:51 y'all can someone explain 😂, all my life (or at least when I started self learning) I believed that flat= one half of a note off and now I'm just confused

    • @greenxeggs
      @greenxeggs 3 года назад

      It essentially means that the note she was singing was flat as opposed to what she was actually supposed to be singing

    You forgot one ruclips.net/video/A5TXvSfzhJk/видео.html. This one's worth listening to because she sounds like she shouldn't be doing the show. Honestly I think they should've given her an alternate.
