We continue to go under the radar, and I think I speak for a lot of Villa fans in that we're happy to do that. Nice to hear a knowledgeable and well balanced podcast on us but sssshhhhhh not too loudly please! Top 4 finish is the goal to cement us a more than a one season wonder, although a cup will always be welcome.
Yeah agreed. My only concern is the 4 teams we won against are very low in the table. Need to beat Ipswich and then bigger tests to come but certainly can't complain so far.
@@samuelloification2749 thing is, if watkins was firing, we could've beaten arsenal easily as well. we've played well in every game so far bar the first half against wolves

Would like to just say that Morgan Rogers is not actually a City academy product, he’s from the West Brom academy, even got an appearance for the first team before City snapped him up.
The best team does not always win, its often one of the best and we are now one of the best. The only thing I really see as beyond us is getting 90+ points, but it doesn't always take 90+ points to win the title, so as it stands I see us as having an outside chance of winning the title, as for Europe who knows but we have a good chance of reaching the knock out stage and then anything is possible. Having said all that I'd snatch your hand off right now for 4th again, a good run in Europe and the FA Cup.
People still talk villa up with a slight smirk and tiny bit of mockery but everyone is really sleeping on this team unless they get a defensive injury they are as good as anyone Kamara is due to come back next week as well
All true, but it's likely Villa's right back situation will put a glass ceiling on them in both the league, but particularly the CL. Cash defensively suspect for some time now, and the youngsters clearly need time. Lets see if Monchi can pull a rabbit out of a hat in Jan.
@dontpanic5604 Think it depends on how well Mings fits back into the squad. He's very very close to coming back, as is Kamara. If Unai gets them back in smoothly, our potential defensive problems should be patched up quite nicely
People are sleeping on Villa. They have an elite ownership and management setup, and are building an elite squad. They should have beat Arsenal. If it weren’t for PSR they would be even stronger. Over 5 years they have ambitions to win it. Pundits scoff, but why not? If Pep leaves ambitious owners are smelling an opportunity for a shake up.
I think you've answered your own question there. PSR / UEFA rules remain incoherent, and Villa are limited in the medium term until this is sorted out. Luiz - PSR. Diabi - UEFA.
@@dontpanic5604 true and injuries aside we seem stronger and played the situation well. My fear is that Chelsea being given free rein to spend will be the ones to capitalize on any potential slowdown with City or Liverpool.
@@MathewDryhurst imho, people just give too much weight to somewhat recent history. As a Chelsea fan (but, admittedly, with Villa probably my #2 team), I see Villa as the only other team besides the top 3 and Chelsea that could really contend for the title. Of course, you can’t say that because only 2-3 teams can be given that respect right now, but things can happen, and I think Villa have all the requisite elements to be able to contend. Next few years could be fun for shaking some things up.
@@ZacharyShahan cheers! I agree. There is a legitimate opportunity for a shake up coming as the Pep era will end, and the distance between Arsenal, Liverpool, Villa, Chelsea is really not that large anymore. Emery could have his pick of jobs. He downplays it, but he and the ownership are there to make Villa contenders.
Another thing about Rogers, is he has bags of pace. Which is somewhat unusual for someone of his statue. Those assists vs Wolves were tremendous. Excellent composure. 10 million. Bargain.
An interesting one would be whether villa fans would take the Spurs success over that period of about 5 years when they reached the champions league a few times, the final itself, and a domestic final or two. Maybe one? Or whether they'd just see what happens, with the risk of never qualifying again for the CL, finishing 8th and Emery leaving at the end of the season. We would all say let's see what happens so as not to limit ourselves but we should enjoy this while it lasts. Fast forward five years we would have done well to do what Spurs did, before their recent return to mediocrity.
We’ve won 4 out of 5 prem games and our first game in the CL and he’s been a standout player in most of them. More to football than one individual’s goal tally
Not a single person but you has claimed that was even a foul, let alone a card. Nothing in it at all, it was a collision ffs. Mosquera didn't have the ball, and he even fouled and got a yellow for his challenge on Watkins

Brilliant move. Owners who know what they’re doing - what a revelation!
And gave Unai full control over every team based aspect of the club. No manager has had this much control since the days of Fergie or Wenger
Nice to see some balanced coverage of Villa
Yes Penno! My thoughts exactly 💜💙🦁💯
Nice to see any coverage of Villa outside of our own media
Jhon Duran has scored more match winning goals off the bench than any other player in Premier League history. Crazy stat
Surely bollocks

But it’s more than that ain’t it, it’s a journey, he played his most important games at Boro and learnt the culture at city, he said this himself
Thank you guys. Nice to hear Villa getting some love
