Facts
Ferguson managed to put up almost identical numbers to Dalton Schultz, who everyone considered a mediocre tight end when he was here. Sure he overperformed expectations, that's only because expectations were very low.
He is a decent average to below average TE, nothing more. Of course teams are going to draft there to get better at the position.

I saw an interview where he said he played quite a bit of the position. He never started at it but he worked in the spot a lot in practice and took a few snaps in games.
