Switch 2 is an inferior system given what's out in the market today. Don't get me wrong its good platform but your paying premium prices just like other platforms and getting inferior quality and performance. Plus Nintendo Tax is stupid especially for Switch 2 upgrades when you dont need to do that on Steam Deck or Windows Handhelds. Not to mention most Switch 1 Versions of games are pretty bad. Switch 2 games are only good when the Developer puts in the TLC. New Fatal Frame looks and runs like hot garbage compared to adjusted Steam Deck Oled. It just doesnt make any sense for people to buy it given other alternatives plus customers can move there entire library free of charge on PC handhelds, no memberships, free upgrades, cheaper games. Your not locked down to said device

Capcom has been the top 3rd party developer of the switch 2 so far
To be fair, they have been one of the top developers overall for some years now. Good games, good engine, optimization too(idk about PC, I dont play it). And they can make a good 3rd person game, as well as great fighting game.

DLSS and DLSS Frame Gen are not the same thing. DLSS was always amazing. It's the frame gen people don't like.
Dlss looked like crap when it first came out. And it still can create visual ugliness here and there

no comment on DLSS4.5, it tank my FPS on my RTX3090 so i dont used it, also no frame gen supported so no comment, but DLSS4? its very usable on a 4K TV
Frame gen depends on your initial FPS and the game itself. You need 45-60 fps before turning it on. Works best when your at least at 60fps. Still in some games it produces ghosting and horrible input delay no matter how good your fps is.
feel like it should be pointed out that Ai Upscaling is not the same as Generative Ai, which would be the only valid complaint against Ai Upscaling if it was the same thing

@guycrew3973 dlss five uses gen ai on the actual geometry instead of upscaling after the frame has been rendered, which adds extra details or makeup or lighting to characters that was not there before.
The upscale is still ai generated. Its still generative AI
@vengefuljester2090 while the ai still generates pixels all it does is do math to find a colour between the two pixels and add it between them.

I’m waiting for the Switch 2 Lite. In addition to it being cheaper, it’s hopefully lighter, smaller, more portable. I have very tiny hands. My Switch Lite was too big, I had to adapt to learn how to hold it. 😂😂

they are force to optimize their game so that it can run at least 30fps on switch 2 on 1080p even with DLSS
so i always assume if the game is release on Switch 2 then it's very well optimized

I finally got a job earlier this year and as much as I want to save my money the Mar10 day sale is still going on at a store near me where I could get some actually good value for buying the console. I had a switch lite and eventually got a regular one a few years back. Nows a good time to pawn off the faulty lite and give the regular switch to a friend or something.
Capcom is single handedly carrying the first 6 months of Switch 2 for this year. We're almost a month out from Pragmata and I couldn't be more excited to play it day one, I was beyond happy with how well RE9 turned out. While it wasn't perfect and had some dips in certain parts, the majority of the game ran great and still had me immersed from beginning to end!
Given people are legit buying the Switch 2 FOR Pokopia and it's a straight up system seller, I'm gonna disagree on this.
Pokopia has probably tripled re9 Switch sales by now.
@acemarystudioI bought Pokopia and haven't played it yet, will get to it soon though. For as great as Pokopia is, it's only just 1 game. Capcom on the other hand, have so far this year released, RE7, RE8, RE 9, MHS3 and in a couple of weeks, Pragmata. That's 5 games this year alone. Last year they released SF6 and Kunitsu-Gami Path Of The Godess, 2 other good games. They so far, have released 7 ports of their games in the S2s first year. Capcom to me, is hands down, the top 3rd party company porting their games on to the S2 at this moment, with Square Enix a close 2nd.

🤯🤯I am super impressed with Red Dead Redemption 1's Switch 2 port. In docked mode, it's only 720p. But it's upscaled to 1440p with DLSS. I thought it was maybe between 1080p and 1440p, but upscaled to 4k. Until I watched Digital Foundry's tech review. Sure, there is the occasional DLSS artifact. But compared to the low resolution of the 360 version, on a 55in+ 4K TV, it looks soo crisp. Not to mention, it's a pretty reliable 60fps. Until you speed into a town. It drops for a moment until it loads.
Wonder if they will port red dead 2 at some point as well?
Exactly like I compared to muiliple phones and pc handhelds and they couldnt come close in terms of visualsin this game truly think nintendo cooked going with nvidia 😅

I just wish they updated more switch 1 games with proper resolutions for switch 2. Nobody talks about the poor quality in handheld when upscaling games from 720p to 1080p. Legends Arceus as an example. It would be amazing to be able to force “docked mode” for s1 games on s2 in handheld.

I've been playing the Switch 2 version of Xenoblade Chronicles X on the Switch 2 and I have been loving it. The Switch 2 is so much easier to manage while in handheld mode. I walk around the house with a baby strapped to my chest every morning while playing my Switch 2. It keeps boggling my mind how good the Switch 2 looks and runs in handheld mode. Its so thin but does overheat or even get too hot while in my 2 hour baby nap sessions. Not to mention, its quiet to boot!

I bought RE9 on both my PS5 & Switch 2 (yes... i am a psychopath. & also yes i love RE that much.) But after finishing my first playthrough on my Playstation, I've been doing the 2nd playthrough on my Switch 2, & it has been INCREDIBLE!
I actually am kicking myself over the fact that I'm able to play Requiem in bed each night on my switch, & it looks & runs fantastic! Thank you as always for the video Wood.

Something I’m not seeing on RUclips is the blotchy/panel issue from the factory. It took me 3 seperate units across 3 different gamestops until I got a screen that didn’t have a grid of circles. The issue is all over Reddit, and thankfully Nintendo (sometimes) will warranty it, but I feel like this is a serious issue we need more videos on. I know there’s dozens of people out there that didn’t notice it and still have it
i got mine day one and never had that issue.
@Cubsfan122112I finally caved and when I got home I was just like “this CANT be right.” Went back next day, out of stock, pretty near store. Got home, same issue. No stock nearby anymore so I was given a GameStop gift card with the balance and drove an hour away, got home and this one finally did not have the waffle like pattern, thankfully all good and GameStop didn’t give me any trouble at all. I felt annoying but also I just paid so much LOL

In the first year of the system we’ll have Mario Kart World, Bonanza, Pokopia, and the new Yoshi game. That’s reasonable for first party games in year one of a system! It’s amazing, the internet can chill.

06:00 Implementing DLSS in games have a performance cost on the game but it’s usually cheaper than running natively at that higher resolution. You must also have enough pixels to work with from the start and some games work better than others with it.
Yeah, it’s a cool technology that makes it possible for very underpowered systems to run very intensive games, but don’t sugarcoat it Wood
No game has ever suffered in performance when a integration of DLSS is used. Usually cheaper than native.... no.. Always.

dlss is hardware accelerated performance enhancing antialiasing technology, You are playing at a lower resolutions upscaled using AI, so no, it’s a performance upgrade. If you mean that there is a loss compared to playing at the same lower resolution at native, that is true, but it by far makes up for that and more. Not to mention the upscaling looks better than native, for the most part.

2:06 I mean... they're PS4 games running on hardware on about par with a PS4 and that has DLSS... I feel like it should be expected at this point to see games that can run on PS4/XB1 getting a second wind on Switch 2.

Switch 2 is on par with base ps5 with only a slight drawback, not ps4 lol. The only edge ps5 gets is the fact that it can do 4k and 120 fps simultaneously, while on Switch 2 you choose one or the other.
Tech companies have compared the two extensively. For perspective using a number scale, if a ps4 is 0, the ps4 pro 50, and base ps5 100, the switch 2 is around a 90.

Fair enough you actually got me with the 2nd ps5 gameplay bait 😂 I will say though that I usually see issues with DLSS upscaling on my PC especially with lighting, it's not perfect.
It depends on the gen of DLSS imo. DLSS 4 and 4.5 are pretty much flawless but older DLSS (especially 1&2) are pretty rough sometimes.
It's not, though it's considerably easier to get right when you're working with a fixed hardware configuration like a console than when you're dealing with a hugely variable configuration in a PC :P
this felt less like a video about the switch 2 and more like a video about resident evil
I think thats less attributed to the switch 2 and more to the optimization of the Re engine to run on switch 2
Yeah, I’m really curious what happens with unreal in the future. That engine just doesn’t seem to mesh well with Nintendo products. RE Engine is incredible. I’m looking forward to RE 2-4 coming to S2.

What the switch 2 crowd will likely fail to mention for at least the next few years , is the downside of upscaling being prevelent in fast motion, a still image can look super sharp but depending on fast artifacts move it can be a blurry mess, the worst part is it's up to Nintendo to decide how much of a blurry mess is considered playable as you can't control upscaling in switch 2 like you can in PC

I'm glad you like the upscaling but your take on it is a bit weird mate. Upscaling is super hard to actually do well and i think it's becoming a crutch for them that leads to a worse end product.
I mean, Monster Hunter Wilds took over a year past release to at least partially clean their mess up. Sure it can do all sorts of super resolution and Frame gen but it looks and runs just worse overall than anything before it.
Switch 2 first generation has a LCD Screen not OLED.
