    I really can't wait. I am not a huge fan of electric cars but something about this really is getting me excited. Might be all the f1 names who were never really given a good chance to get anywhere in F1

    I think this series will help change people's perception of electric cars as being under powered and only for the environmentally conscious. The big question will be if it can build enough fanbase to make it past the inaugural season.

    I'd love Formula E if it ditched FanBoost (voting to give drivers more power). Popularity contests destroy the 'sport' in motorsports for me.

    • @Nemoticon
      @Nemoticon 10 лет назад

      140mph... 0-62mph in 3 seconds, not amazing but not bad. the tight street circuits they run around won't see them reaching much more than 120mph anyway.

  • @mateagoston7113

    And the other I don't understand: Originally Formula-E has been created to develop the electric engines. Then why are the rules are so strict like how much the max hp they must use? To my mind this is the worst rule to obstruct technology. And can sy explain me why we need FanBoost?

    • @footplusballid2470
      @footplusballid2470 9 лет назад

      +Borsófőzelék Piskótakockával because Formula E didnt want the teams to become like F1 team: spending much money to development which can killling them.

    • @mateagoston7113
      @mateagoston7113 9 лет назад

      Christijan mArv Teams knows how much money they can afford to spend or not?

      firstly, the amount of useable energy is limited due to safety reasons. If a driver runs out of energy suddenly, he can create a situation that is dangerous for him and for other drivers, see the last lap of the first ePrix at Battersea Park, where the leading man (Stephane Sarrazin) stranded with the chequered flag in sight and almost caused a mass collision. Secondly, the idea of Formula E is to open up the competition step by step. During season 1, everybody had to use exactly the same technology, since season 2, the choice of powertrain (motor, gearbox, inverter) is free, from season 3 on, torque vectoring will be allowed. The battery is supposed not to become a part of the development landscape too early, in order to prevent the teams from going bankrupt due to expensive developments. This is also the reason why the chassis is to remain untouched. Formula E is supposed to stay a powertrain development competition, no expensive developments regarding suspensions, aerodynamics etc

      @mateagoston7113 8 лет назад

      TheColinChapman
      Why is that more dangerous when sonebody runs out of fuel and slows the car down suddenly than any other racing emergencies?
      If they will open engineering freedom step by step, then it's good, but I think they could move faster.
      I never asked about suspensions or tyres, I know why they don't use different and expensive body parts.

    • @TheColinChapman
      @TheColinChapman 8 лет назад

      +Borsófőzelék Piskótakockával You're right, that's debateable. I just once read they established that rule for safety reasons. An F1 car that runs out of fuel may lose its propulsion as suddenly as an F E car, but as an additional feature, F1 cars have two rules regarding energy consumption - A) fuel consumption is limited to 100kg per race , and B) a fuel flow rate of max. 100kg per hour. and since these rules have been established, I have never seen an F1 car run out of fuel.

    Formula E the story so far,
    People complain too much about car pollution that they had to make another branch of races with "ecologic cars" so they shut up about it

    This looked good, until they decided that fans would be able to vote to give drivers more power during the race. Which turns it in to nothing more than a bullshit popularity contest. So no thanks, I'll stick with F1 for now...
