    This is the worst positioned courtroom I’ve ever seen. Why is the defendant so close to the witnesses! Awkward and bad form to put people thru 🤦🏻‍♀️

      She was very close, and looking at her over her glasses as she walked up. I could see how this could be very intimidating for witnesses

    The students were amazing trying to save his life and working together. You can tell they really cared about him. I wish they had been able to save him.

      Agreed 💯 I felt so bad for the employee on the stand reliving all that when they found Dan shot to death on the floor...the CPR etc. I would have been a basket case. Kudos to her and the other students of the cooking school 👍

      He'd been shot in the back and paralyzed. Then shot in the heart. There was no way he was able to be saved, but even if he had, being left without the ability to tend his garden and his chickens would have destroyed him.

    This first witness, the student, she's so caring and awesome. She kept her wits about her in the moment to do her best for the hurt person but you can tell now how much it affected her.

    Her lack of emotion, alone, is going to be what convicts her. You know the jury is watching her every movement.
    And, when you are staring your MIL down, staring at various witness with a stink eye, including S-son, and not shedding one tear when the witnesses were sobbing out their stories of how they found him. The affect this had on everybody around the murder. She looks like she's gathering writing material for a book.

      @@MsSlimFace oh, don't forget - according to her writer friends (did she have any other friends?), she rarely showed emotion at very emotional times. I've never met a writer who doesn't show emotion.

      I don’t necessarily agree about the emotion thing. God knows I can’t stand Nancy, but the fact is some people just don’t show emotion.

      It is freaky. Especially the way she's looking at the witnesses for the prosecution. She looks so evil. Why would Portland put this televised show of a highly-watched grisly murder of interest in a teeny courtroom like this?

    The defense attorney seems to ask a great deal of questions that seem totally irrelevant to anything.... very much like her client.

    So the murderer is sitting there watching how her crime affected his students and work colleagues. Heartbreaking for those people. Cold blooded murderer.

      omg, I can't believe how cold that woman's face is hearing this testimony! This is the first murder trial I've watch that brought me to tears as soon as the witness did. And, I've seen a lot of murder trials.

      Nancy said of Clarinda Perez: "His death didn't stop her life. _Her life went on._ She came back to the program, she graduated. She wasn't crying for Dan, she was crying for herself from seeing a dead guy, not cuz Dan Brophy, a man she BARELY KNEW, died."
      Yeah Nancy, not like they paid thousands of dollars for this course and wouldn't get a refund for dropping out. Clearly, graduating from the culinary school meant she couldn't POSSIBLY be traumatized. 🙄

      Right? I can't believe her! She was _so angry and offended_ on the stand when reminded that the students were traumatized by Dan's death, as if she's the only one who's allowed to grieve.

    In the 8 trillion trial and crime cases I’ve watched, this is the first 911 operator I’ve heard treat the caller with patience and empathy. She should teach a master class!!!❤️

    Nancy wanted a life of luxury. Instead, she’s sitting on her old, oversized rear in prison. That makes me happy.
    Dan deserved so much better.

      I'm just watching now, and am on the first one. Wow...👏👏👏. Amazing reaction to crisis.. She is obviously devastated, but at the time, she was focused and in control. That is amazing. One of the most efficient 911 calls I've heard.

      A lot of unnecessary questions, both sides asking as if they are qualifying scientists that are going to talk about DNA.

    I noticed before the first break of the afternoon that The defendant came back with her mask on. I bet her lawyer told her she comes across as entitled by being the only one without a mask

      I think the difference was that she was seated close to the witness box, within the 6ft. Versus opening statements when lawyers had their backs to her.

    Why can't defense counsel get up to ask what she wants about the map and point to each location on the map that she's referring to, instead of directing verbally ?

    I'm guessing showing Chef Damon on the surveillance cam is a precursor to when they show Nancy's van, but that just creeps me out (capturing her getting off the bus).

    what in the world is the defense line of questioning by defense attorney of former OCI instructor Dorothy Sadie Damon -- the cooler, the garage door open to the storeroom, the door to trash bin, the mystery room, access of the ceiling, condo shared wall, locks and doors, etc. -- also "live fire day" and students judged by a chef -- the day of the shooting was a "iive fire day" -- -- again what in the world is the defense line of questioning by defense -- who shot the chef? could it be a student, a stranger, a ________ , someone hiding -- in pantry, etc. -- besides all of that -- defense trying to create "reasonable doubt" -- "waffle iron" what's up with that? -- stolen == oh that's it - theft

      I wonder as well because if she’s getting to someone could be hiding in a closet or restroom while she’s here and there, why not just ask that? I feel sorry for Ms Damon that she walked into the kitchen and didn’t see him even though she wouldn’t have been able to save him.

    To think of how she cast judgment on the students because what was it, they’re not really grieving for Dan, they’re just sad for themselves.
    If that’s true, then what does that say about you Nancy? You were his wife and you’re barely crying at all, you’re not sad for the loss you suffered? She is so blindly narcissistic. Astonishing.

      I’m sure she was upset and nervous but she said ‘there were other bodies in there’ which is unusual thing to say but probably was due to nerves.

      @@CrimeAuditors She does look nervous and still pretty shaken by the event. When she's naming the students, she's clearly remembering the traumatic image of the body of a colleague on the floor, which slips into her speech. I don't see her as shady, but it's easier to read her body language when the cold-blooded killer is sitting right there, unphased by the whole thing.

      I think she feels guilt or shame for her emergency response. Some people get focused in extremely stressful situations, like the first witness. The second witness went into full panic mode. Not being able to be of help in an emergency setting must have been pretty traumatizing for her. She seems to be a bit unfocused in her testimony as well: she makes a lot of aasumptions and guesses.

      Of course, we're all thinking that. He was a good looking guy and around a lot of women or men. But, it sounds like they didn't pursue that angle. She was always the only suspect.

      @@elishh8173 Well, financial (greed)is one of the biggest motivators for murder. Along with affairs (lust)(wrath), envy.. No doubt she was financially motivated and I'm sure she found his hoarding quite impossible to live with (I would), not that it came up in trial, but you can bet she was tired of it. She wanted to be FREE and RICH. Yeah, horrible horrible person.
